About Me

Been here more than a year. A lot of Glumbert is fun to watch/read, and a lot is just so much blather from rude adolescents. But wading through this muck doesn't hurt, and the good posters are worth the trouble. Sam Adams rules ! But in vino veritas. The pic was taken by my wife as we prepared to enjoy a wonderful Chardonnay which we bought that day in (where else) Chardonnay, France. Cheers.

Hi chaz, do you have your Glumbertown account up and running? Then lets continue there, much more comfortable.

Regarding my English: German is one of the more complicated languages, so I have kind of a head start. Plus I need it in my daily work, all the documentation I write is English and we have many customers outside Germany.

Hi chaz, I always wonder why no nation seems to be able to get the majority of things right. There are a bunch of examples when you compare the USA and Germany where it is stunning that things that go wrong in one place are perfect in the other and vice versa, or they suck in both countries since they are over or underdone while a moderate solution would be the right thing to do.

The laws to protect workers from getting layed off are such an example. In the USA they basically do not exist, which sucks, in Germany they are a nightmare for the companies, which sucks too. Though they can be circumvented, but you need to hire a lawyer to do that right.

The result is mostly a lot of wasted effort due to friction.

Sometimes I think about emigration, but then I have not yet found a place that is not just different but really significantly better.

It was the only site that permitted the use of URL posting. metacafe was better technologically, but did not allow this crucial requirement.

Clipjunkie is a bit more based on humor, and in that respect more like glumbert, and metacafe was kinda stuffy. The site also has very few members or they don't comment very much. The loss of the personal blogs and the comment text color are the only real problems.

Hi Chaz;
I keep waiting for the final day here and am surprised every day when it's still open for conversation. Take care

Hi Chaz

Just so much going on in my life right now. Wondering where to go from here. I've been at this place before, it feels too uncomfortably familiar. My life is a cycle of ups and downs, always has been.

Thanks for your concern! I do appreciate it. I've been so out of touch though!

I can't really read all the posts on the "last" video. Never seen such a long thread! I skimmed it over, that's all.

I'll check in sometimes, see if glumbert is still even up and running! Seems weird to have "stalled" the way it has.

Take it easy, and hope things are well with you!

Later.

Bruddah...it ain't been easy...lemme tell you.

And heck yes! I'd LOVE to see your abode! Beach? New England setting?? Gods, man. I'm in! And yes, I WOULD be the perfect gentleman whilst under your roof, and in the presence of your better (!)-half.

It would also be MY pleasure, to smuggle in some good ol' Canadian vino into your fine, fine nation!

If you're serious about this offer...then this could be a blockbuster of a summer!

Besides, I'm pretty sure you're right about it being a LOT better than Toronto down there!

Chaz:

I think you should let me come over to your house, and drink most (if not all) of your wine.

In the interests of preserving international relations, of course.

I'm sitting here chuckling at your recent comment to Obah on his profile, Chaz you do have a way with words!

I missed your comment last night about drinking some Samuel Adams. I read it earlier this morning, before setting out into the unseasonable heat to put some more finishing touches on my "creek deck". As the mercury rose higher and higher, and I got thirstier and all I could think about was a cold, gleaming, tall glass, of Sam Adams, sparkling with condensation!

At about 2:00 PM, I decided to go get some right then, even though I won't drink till this evening, I didn't want to get too wrapped up in this project and procrastinate getting a six pack then end up vegging away the night...like last night.

This is where I thank you Chaz, and I sincerely mean it!

THANK YOU!

At exactly 2:18 PM while shooting the breeze with the party store owner, a massive thunderstorm blew in, unbelievable winds, sideways rain, bolts of lightning slamming down everywhere!

After eating a nasty party store sandwich the whole thing blew by. I went back to the barn, saddled up the ATV, went back to the deck......and there it was, an enormous dead ash tree had fallen right where I was working!!! Smashing down four other trees and a portion of the railing I had just built! Considering the speed at which that storm came in, with no warning whatsoever, there's no doubt in my mind I would have been injured or worse!

Thank you again for your subliminal suggestion!

Chaz, you da man!

Thanks, I'm not really gone, but will have to be kinda silent. Not typing is really helping, so I will limit my interaction.
