Interesting take, but the cynicism kind of turns me off. It's fairly adolescent in tone. I get it! Our mating rituals are cliches, there is nothing original about them , therefore they are meaningless! At least that's the impression I got.
Response: our lives all follow variations of the arc of lives that came before us. But the key difference is: this time, it is we who are experiencing them.
Secondly, re the mediocrity, the lament of not being a great philosopher or author: there is no such thing as being a philosopher who thought something nobody has ever thought before; if there are, they are very rare indeed. Even the greatest thinkers were pushed to their epiphanies by thinkers that came before them or with whom they worked with. So this idea that there is a truly original life to live out there, and we're just missing out on it, is BS. We're all living our lives in reaction to something; we are living the lives of our predecessors and peers, with subtle alterations. But we should rejoice that we get to live at all, no matter how cliche our life path might seem to others.
I guess the authors idea on mediocrity (misplelt no doubt) is one built out of fear. She seems a little overceoncerned that people that choose a path similar to that portrayed in the toon have somehow given up trying to be an 'individual'. I believe that people chose this path not coz they are pushed or lack identity, but merely because that is the path they feel would make their lives most enjoyable.
This video was a sterilized rendition of life...mercilessly minimized valuation of life experience...the type that might come from those reaching so far for a "meaning of life" that they overlook its everyday treasures.
i have been wondering why the united states can't seem to either control our borders or eradicate the opium production in berserkistan . I knew that the united states was the largest user of heroin and cocaine but i didn't realize that we are also the largest launderer of drug money in the world today. this has been made possible by the de-funding of the SEC investigative branch as well as a strange twist in banking laws that makes it almost impossible to successfully prosecute illegal transactions of large sums of money between large corporations, banks and foreign entities. If you put $10,100 in your bank you will be required to fill out paperwork explaining it. If G.M. receives $1000000 from known columbian drug thugs they don't have to worry about it....and they have, (the former chairman and chief executive of the New York Stock Exchange Dick Grasso actually met openly with the leader of the columbian Farc rebel/drug thug movement to urge him to invest the profits from hi narcotics operations on wall-street) i recently saw a series of short films....they're really interesting you should check them out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiDX6UQl2no at first i thought the quy (mike ruppert) wasjust a conspiracy nut but the more you listen to him the smarter he seems..the first clip is kind of dull but stick with it... by the way the guy is a former LAPD Homicide detective and narcotics investigator, with an excellent professional record,...' till he got fired for blowin' the whistle.
mako yes i did, it was interesting the plane basically ran out of fuel and just happened to get caught, the mex gov initially reported 6 tons of coke had been seized, then 5...then 4. i wonder what happened to 2 tons of coke.... a C130 was apprehended in a foreign country in the 1990's carrying over 80 tons of hi grade cocaine. The plane had been given to the US Dept of Forestry for Fire Supression...hmmmm other c130's have turned up in angola, bolivia and nigeria (the new hotspot for refinement of poppy into pure white heroin)...all have been traced to the US Dept of Defense....
It has been speculated by a graduate of the Wharton School of Buissness and former SEC official (i can't remember her name) that without the influx of narco liquidity the US stock market would crash....
Yeah but that supply is probably just to keep the stock traders coked up enough to carry these trades without think what's actually going to happen long term
Coke traders - Wall street or street corner based, who does more damage?
I am pretty sure that illicit drugs come in third as an Industry after oil and some other product. I remember reading a court case were a perp was being tried for cocaine dealing. One of the exhibits the prosecution put forward was $100 bills that had traces of cocaine on it. The defending Lawyer had $100 bills sourced from random banks testing for cocaine and they all had traces (apparently they are rolled and used to snort the white powder but I wouldn't know of course). Anyway the perp got off. My point being is the stuff is every where.
shallowground If you are addressing me I am not justifying anything just pointing out that there is a lot of the stuff around.
I once had a neighbor whose teenage son suffered from Schizophrenia which they believe was brought upon my smoking to much pot anyway he self medicated with heroin, pot and anything he could get his hands on not a pretty site tried on a few occasions to speak to the young Lad trying to be friendly (even though the little prick stole what ever wasn't bolted down) those encounters were pretty sad to be honest I don't like drug dealers like I said I have seen first hand what it does.
But in telling that little sob story who can HONESTLY say that they have NEVER taken an illegal drug?
You're not lying, it's all around. Here's what I can say. It's all on who you associate with or, in that kids case, all on what you can justify using it for. I used to think I needed "sleeping medication" (valium) (working 3rd shift, sleeping during the day ..... not a characteristic of human beings). which could have killed me had I not stopped. Talk about a backwards way of getting sleep apnea. It sucks only getting 3 hours of sleep a day, but that's all a process of choices I've made.
shallowground only getting 3 hours of sleep a day will not only screw you physically but mentally as well a friend of mine did that for a while trying to save his home from being repo'd and literally went nuts.
I had to tell his stupid lazy wife to get a job to help out so he could quit one of his three jobs he is OK now but for a while the guy was a wreck.
And about the poor kid he started taken drugs to stop the voices in his head but obviously the drugs made it worse and about justifying it in his case it really wasn't his fault the guy was really sick he thought he was Jesus had special powers could read peoples minds his parents sold him to the government to do tests on him and so on.
You cannot reason with someone that sick the poor bastard ended up in jail for not doing community service and the prison ended up sending him to a mental institution thats when he was finally got diagnosed and started to get treatment.
I did drive 2 porsches but unforunatly the leasing company has them now not a good feeling seeing TOW TRUCKS show up for your rides but such is life as for this vid i think its based on a true story lol
I got the chance to snub the Prime Minister of Canada today, He was doing the handshake thing, but not when he got to me. He's small, frail looking fella. I don't like him. Good for a laugh though!!
If you take coke or have ever had a coke habit it is pretty obvious to you when someone else is taking it.
Every night on television, on chat shows, news channels etc, I'd say there are at least 30% of people on them who are out of their faces.
And that's just in Kosovo.
garbage hey I am not judging I think most have but would not admit to it I think some may go along the line of yeah but I did not inhale.
Trust me don't ever get into a tiff with __________ cause he has no doubt made a little note of this and will call you a drug dealing addict for being honest about something most have done.
I've tried just about everything, not sure of the slang names. In the late 60s it was acid, take 1/2 cap and shoot the other 1/2, you didn't have to wait to tell or get off. I liked the shit, also liked mesq, buttons, mush'roons. Like mush'rn tea as long as you didn't try to go anywhere. Still like a bit of herb, a habit I got in the army (the world is on fire, so you may as well light something). I think I was fairly nomal, could not handel crank & coke together, H made me sick even when smoked. The new drugs or so called new are out of my league.
But a buzz while skiing is still a wonderful thing.
Damn gymyg sounds like you have had more crap than me.
Mushrooms I would never take voluntary while in Europe I had a dish that contained wild mushrooms unfortunately some were of the poisonous type I was sick for 3 days hallucinating, vomiting, and had a head-ache like I never had before.
garbage i agree with what you have said regarding tv personalities and what seems to be drug use. watch the fox news chick who does the financial show (blonde chick that looks a little like a pig) ... she's wired on something. a friend of mine was at a celebrity golf tournament and limbaugh was there ...he said the guy was totally wasted ...also ann coulter, man if that chick isn't wired i don't know who is.interesting side note, coulters father actually worked for the CIA.. what goes around comes around
that's the only way I'd watch fox, to see some bimbo coked out. Did anyone see the comments from all the networks about Obama's speach? This people are f*king nuts.
The Daily show hit them pretty good.
So if my preast f*ks little boys does that mean I do too? I did give up the church when I reached the age of reasoning.
It's the cinderella complex all rolled into a premeditated ,predictable, precise
married life by the author.Omg ya think she's watched too much "Leave it to
Beaver?
I doubt it chaz. As one fades away, another moron takes his/her place. A psychologist might suggest the "alias" thing is an example of insecurity manifesting itself through deceit. Or, to put it another way, the aliases are a bunch of fucking imbeciles.
