Well there it is. All the regulars know where I stand on this video.
Someday the 'people' of the WILL wake up, and take this country back, and make the government a tool for the 'people', and not the top 1 percent, that garner 28 percent of the wealth of this nation.
We at the Scat Patrol agree with you entirely about taking the country back for the people...only you've proven to be not one of them...just a stooge for the far left, a useful idiot. But thanks for the platitude. Scatman
I think the video is implying that the solution is vote for Ron Paul. I highly doubt that Ron Paul would make "that" much of a difference. Ron Paul is overrated.
Ron Paul is just another politician, but as candidates go, he's the only one who has actually talked about why we got bombed instead of repeating nonsense and talked about closing down the Fed Reserve. So if I HAVE to choose, because my democratic options are bad apples among bad apples i'll at least look for one that's worm-free.
So tell what else is new in the last millennia, George. Of course people are selfish – it’s the nature of survival and once you have money and comforts, it’s rather hard to see past it. Who could listen to this of faults and pretend superiority of conscience, only to be taken up in a society that adores and worships what …. actors and make believe [i.e. movies, TV, (ahem) video]. If all he says is true then we should shut off the damn computer/TV, stop buying junk magazines, quit our multitude of bad habits, and actually go out and do something worthwhile. No? Too comfortable? Got no time? Me neither (shame). So collectively shut-up with the armchair prophesying …. You’re an ENTERTAINER, George. An amusing and sometime diverting act. CUT
The computer is our best tool, George was right 40 yrs ago and he continues to speak-out.
The Gov will never be able to stop the net, never, but they WILL try. Know I'm going to burn one for george.
Foucault, Derrida, and Genet split for Fire Island. Me, I'm curled up here at the crib with Quimella and a toasty paperback of "I, the Jury". Or as Carlin sez: "Anybody think it strange that the Klu Klux Klan has never produced a great composer?"
Interesting. As a novice of political philosophy, I am unfamiliar with Derrida and Genet. Same post structuralist rhetoric as Foucault? And I'm interested in Quimella. What "school of thought" do they fall under?
Democracy is a made up word which means capitalism!
But what is the alternative, Marxism, socialism, dictatorship…all failed as well
What the man fails to mention is that ‘they’ as he refers to are not happy either!
This man is referring to the system which is now more powerful than humankind, it is out of control, it is powered by people’s insecurity and greed,
This is the way the system works:
A pitch black room full of people with guns, one person panics and starts shooting, so what does everyone else do, start shooting, this is the mindset we are in, no one will dare stop shooting because no one trusts each other
been away for a while, i got a bit agressive on here and that's not like me, anyhow hope you are well my friend, seems an increase in alias's some what
as for the vid, i see we have the same opinion i think, not a lot people can do anymore, we are all a cog in the machine
We aren't supposed to live in a Democracy, if no one has figured that out, yet. We are supposed to be living in a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC. Remember the pledge of allegiance? "and to the republic, for which it stands..."
This video is great, George makes a bunch of valid observations. While it is capable of bringing out our frustration at the system, WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?
I think the Ron Paul signs in the middle were a subtle hint of how to fix the mess that the USA is slowly sinking into. More government, more taxes, more "education" from The Man isn't the solution. Ron Paul's ideas (which aren't just his, he represents the whole philosophy of free markets and personal freedom) need to be seriously considered.
People would rather be willfully ignorant about how we got ourselves into this mess than dare to challenge their personal beliefs.
The solution? Restore our nation's constitutional government by vastly reducing the size of the federal (and state governments). End the Marxist inspired income tax (we are capitalist, right?). Abolish the Federal Reserve and return to honest money. Let capitalism thrive so that small businesses can compete with big business. Foster a culture of entrepreneurship rather than a culture of government activism. These aren't easy, nobody said fixing this country would be easy, but they will work, and notice: BIG BUSINESS AND BIG GOVERNMENT AREN'T PROPOSING THESE SOLUTIONS.
Ron Paul is the last gasp of an American philosophical trend: The Know-Nothing. (Look 'em up; they once had their own political party.) Honest Money? You mean the kind where people determine rather or not it's real by biting it? The days of small business competing with big business are over, never to return, unless Mr. Paul is suggesting we return to our caves and forage for firewood. (Can't tax that!) Entrepreneurship (sic) will mean selling apples on the street corner, or pencils if you've got less "get-up-and-go." How can I volunteer for his campaign? A Paul Administration would solve all this nation's problems!
Needs to be seriously considered? There is no consideration... we need to demand it because we have documents not only promising us these things, but acknowledging that we have natural god-given rights to some of these things, if not all. There is no considered. Saying "I'll consider it" Means "I don't want to say no to you in front of everyone, but this'll get them off my back long enough to pass the problem off".
Here's a way to relax, get yourself a copy of Gustavo Santaolalla music CD from the babel film soundtrack, get yourself a bottle of red and a cuban cigar
sit back and indulge, you will soon forget about those missed sexual encounters that always form mans biggest regrets (maybe a women as well i don't know)
Stutz , you have popped another mans stress ball and it's infected you, like a bad driver, let them go on and forget that they exist
Dear Skid, I have taken your advice, and with a few substitutions, have enacted your relaxation plan: Swamp Dogg's "Ratt On" album, a bottle of the Lakota Reservation's finest, and a hand-crafted cheroot of the finest cheeb. All rage has transmogrified into light.
if there is an unfair distribution of income, why are the american females so fat? My people believe that obesity is a sign of wealth...(also when liposuctioned the fat can be burned providing light and heat during the winter ...this would stop global warming and alleviaate the energy crisis....)
Or he could be you Stutz. How do we know? Anyways, he's a real asshole. Is there anything he isnt angry about? Glumbert needs new blood - bring back Canuck, Adolf, all the good old guys. I havent had a laugh at a post for ages. I always thought you were Adolf. Your not are you?
i believe adolf has actually undermined peoples trust, the good old guys have knocked around the same arguments again and again, it's peaked for them on here ,
Now it's time for luke to come forth and take your rightful place, it's time for you Gymjam TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED IT'S TIME for you to stop phoning your parents, it's time for you to start ironing your own shirts, it's time for you to start putting the rubbish out, the time has now come for you to find your own potential and unleash your spunk (used as a metaphor) and ask the women/man out you've always fancied, say go fuck yourself to the bullying boss, stop masturbating, go to the GYM, eat well, tell everyone how fond you are of them, buy a pink car, drive a train, reverse a caravan,
go forth and do what your will and wanted to do and all that
angryman showing up recently, just as we have lost several of our beloved regular posters, could maybe lean toward someone developing an alias. A little fresh air, so to speak.
angry, now don't get mad, I'm just wondering. Is there anything we can talk about that WOULDN'T make you angry? Or do you have to stay in that high level of piss-off just to stay even? Non-combative. Just asking.
Oh yeah. The video. Got to remember why I'm here, don't I? The early work of George Carlin, in my opinion, was a lot more lighthearted, although pretty insightful even so. There is no doubt his brain works overtime, no matter what he's talking about. In recent years, it seems he has lent that brain power to much more intense subjects. His thought process seems to be a step above most regular people.
This is stupid. What you get out of life is what you put into it. I have put into it 8 years of post highschool education and make $100/hour for a job while earining a PhD in engineering. And when I go grocery shopping I see a lot of people throwing down cash for alcohol and using Food Stamps to buy food. They didn't put in becuse they don't care, they know if they fail at life the government will bail them out like they expect. There are a lot of people in this country who are stupid and don't give a shit and will always be stupid and don't give a shit becuse we have welfare and low income housing and food stamps and EBT. 100 years ago is you didn't give a shit you starved to death and we didn't have to deal with you any more, now they get free stuff from my taxes and multiply.
If there really were owners who did run this country as thier own personal piggy bank there would be an armed revolution of the working class like there was in Russia, France, and the US 200 years ago. The streets would run as rivers of blood. Yes wages and bennifits are going down and that drives people who give a shit to go into buisness for themselves, that is the essence of a free market economy. If all the people who worked for walmart everywhere went on strike, they could get better wages, welcome to your right to peaceably assemble. This conspiracy theory bullshit doesn't hold up in the face of logic or reality. And why is a rich asshole like Carlin spewing it, with an HBO special and several CD's out you know hes got cash in the bank. Read Atlas Shrugged and it will all make sense.
What a load of bullshit. Yes, the corporate fat cats who own everything just want a shitty, uneducated, complacent work force. Because there is no way to make money from an educated, empowered society. fuck off you whiny bastard. He bitches that the politicians are only there to make us think we have a voice, and then complains about the billions spent on lobbying...the politicians. The thing that pisses me off about this anti-corporate, anti-globalization thing is this us versus them mentality. Well, if you think that Corp. A is controlling the world and making money off of the backs of everyone and making all the shareholders stinking rich - then BUY SOME STOCK IN CORP. A and SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!!!! There is no secret, exclusive club of owners of America or the West.
No...we just know the that the gubment is the least efficient and most costly way of spreading the wealth.
Is there a better way of sharing what you have than helping others create their own?
(Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day. Teach him how to fish...)
The underlying operative in this little saying is that the man still has to go fish...No feds taking part of your haul to feed him.)
Yellow chicken shit makes for good fertilizer. Thanks
*From the looks of things, you ally yourself with the materialist zealots who would not allow ID (Intelligent Design) in the science classrooms.
I want DE in the science classroom as it is a staunchly debated hypothesis. But I want all arguments on the table and let's see them stand on their own merits. *
Remember there were YOUR words.
Now... two things:
Firstly Darwinian Evolution already IS in the science classrooms. We all know Darwinian Theory is staunchly debated and has withstood the test of time.
Secondly anyone with an ounce of sense knows that (ID) Intelligent design is simply Creationism dressed up. Creationist theory comes from the bible and is a great belief system. It's not for the science classroom. It's for the religious classroom.
You believe creationism / ID is an equal science alongside Darwinian Theory when it's not. You have been consistently shown this to be the case but yet you remain atop your soapbox wailing and gnashing.
It's why you call those who refuse to accept New Earth Creationism as a valid science 'zealots'. They're not 'zealots' streamy. They're just better sientists than you.
Re-read your posts on the Giuliani or the largest universe threads below for a 101 on your blind arrogance and faith:
Special Needs Mako...Why make it so, so easy. These are your words, that I denied: "The fact you want fundamental creationism taught as scientific fact in science classrooms whilst thumping young minds with a bible?"
And then, you wnet and quoted what I said, which is not the same as what you claimed. You have proven, beyond all doubt, that you are a simpleton and a child.
Thank you for further burying yourself...in your own words. You have made my day again, honey. I am so glad I have you when I need a boost!
Thank you for re-openning the door to expose your own inability to think.
...a little butter and just the right amount of salt...Batter fried shark comin' up!
(Good try on the lie. Accusing me of your own conspiracies...tsk tsk...this is too easy, little boy.)
Not being a pedant at all.
Having been "inside" this discussion for years and knowing 2-3 HS biology teachers (and 1 college prof) who are on my side, let me be clear again:
1. ID is NOT Creationism in disquise. That is an ad hominem used by those who can't stand toe-to-toe and debate the arguments. Go to the Discovery Institute's web page and read their arguments for ID. Go to (my favorite) AnswersInGenesis and read their arguments against ID. (There are a number of non-Creationists who are ID supporters.)
The teachers I mentioned want to be able to present other sides to DE, but fear of losing their jobs prevents it. (That would be the zealots on your side, Mako.)
2. Because the holes in DE are so enormous and the incongruities legion, a science class is just the place for competing hypotheses about origins, development, etc. Either that, or put a deep study of DE in a philosophy class.
That is where I stand. I know of no one...no one at Answers, no one at Discovery, no one at CRI...who would remove DE from science class. We want the weaknesses of DE taught as that...weaknesses...even to the point of questioning all of it. Put them in the arena of ideas and teach some critical thought (SOMETHING YOU HAVE NONE OF!). Teach the implications of DE, ID and Creationism.
Asides:
Because your material belief is so deeply challenged by the thought of anything that undermines DE, you reject out of hand those challenges as (a) out of the mainstream--they are, but again, consensus doesn't make it so. (b) only held by wacko religious-types--again, no support for your side and (c) outside of science--but you haven't applied the Scientific Method to anything you have ever posted; ergo, you don't understand science.
Mako, you have based your arguments entirely on a few things you feel are certain; they are not.
You cannot differentiate "evidence" from "proof". (This is your biggest fault. Proof attaches itself to belief in a way that evidence does not. Evidence has no finality, but proof does and you want, desperately, for their to be proof.)
You claim DE has stood the test of time. It has not. It has not been tested, nor can it be...it can ONLY be inferred. It has only stood the test of consensus, and that is currently faltering.
You have argued with me from stereotype. In other words, created what you want to believe about anti-DE's or Creationists, and argued with that, not with what I have said. You have not argued the merits of my points. (As I stated very often, my arguments are from a qualitative standpoint: DE is so qualitatively weak, it should have been scrapped or severely modified a long time ago. (Stephen Jay Gould thought so, even if he was trying to sell his own hypothesis.) This is not an argument for Creation or ID. You have had difficulty differentiating the two...way too often, Mako.)
You have eliminated from the discussion, Formal Logic. Science does not operate out of the bounds of Logic or Reason. But, the loudest argument you have made is one of consensus. Ie. "It is illogical to disagree with DE because most scientists agree with it." That does not make something true. It may make something compelling, but not true.
So...where the rubber meets the road: I have rested my beliefs in a Faith in something solid and something that I give primacy in my life...my morals, my desires, my needs...are all filtered through My Maker.
You, too, have rested your beliefs in faith (although you would deny this). But your faith is in some things (human endeavors) that are subject to change (that is demostrably true) and therefore, your beliefs are subject to change. You have said as much in other unrelated posts.
By the way, you keep claiming rewrites of the Bible and I asked you for a measure of proof, in the context you made that statement:
What was rewritten? What was it before? Is it accepted as Christian? How accurate are the older texts? What was changed? Why? Are you talking about simple translations?
Put DE in philosophy alongside Creationism. No problem with that AT ALL.
Putting it there ensures it stays out of the Biology classroom where it most definitely does NOT belong.
The qualitative holes in DE can then be examined alongside the entire black hole that is Creationist ID
Know what? I have no need to disprove your science perverse again. It's been done so many times it gets boring. It also gives you a voice which less educated people might respect.
To this end I'm not going to bother with giving your ridiculous science any more thread-time so keep holding your breath. You will no doubt start claiming 'paucity of argument', 'you're scared to debate' etc... Carry on.
I will hit on yet ANOTHER Streamy lie; that ID is NOT Creationism
We BOTH know ID is defined and treated as a form of creationism by its supporters - YOU yourself admit to a belief in Young Earth Creationism.
Look at it logically - you go from crowing about how the world is 6,000 years old directly into an argument pushing ID forward...?
Logically let's look at ID's main characteristics -- rejection of naturalism, denial of evolution, belief in abrupt appearance and supernatural design, emphasis on gaps in the fossil record, claims of scientific support, support for "teaching the controversy"
Streamy - these are ALL essentially unchanged from YE creationism and are arguments YOU have used unsuccesfully to demean Evolutionary theory
ID is findementally related to Creationism. Show me ANY SINGLE scientific program in support of ID that ISN'T related to creationism...
It's registered by Access Research Network, a major ID organization, and directs you to their Web site.
Aother example:
One of the most prominent ID books captures the idea of creation in its definition: "Intelligent design means that various forms of life began abruptly through an intelligent agency, with their distinctive features intact -- fish with fins and scales, birds with feathers, beaks, and wings, etc. (Davis and Kenyon 1989, 99-100)"
Any of this sound familiar to you? Sure does to me - almost seems like you've quoted verbatim from it in previous threads...
Bottom line is the ID movement rejects naturalistic explanations for origins and seeks to replace them with one or a few sudden creations by a supernatural agent whom almost everyone in the movement identifies as the Christian God.
That is creationism, plainly.
Also let's also be honest about the evolution (no pun intended) of the term itself:
The "intelligent design" strategy evolved from creationism. When a major textbook for intelligent design, Of Pandas and People, was in draft stage in 1987, the Edwards v. Aguillard decision made teach "creation science" unconstitutional. Bit unfortunate for you really....
Early drafts of the book show that it was a creationism book, using the word "creation" and cognates throughout. Drafts made after the Edwards decision show that the authors simply substituted the term "intelligent design" for "creation" (Kitzmiller v. Dover, 2005).
I'd suggest yet another little stream'o' bullshit has been dammed / damned rather abruptly wouldn't ya say?
Your little book will no doubt forgive you though.
Seriously though, going back to my first point above, at least we agree on something.
mako...it is good that you cease arguing for the reasons you cited: It does give me a voice. You have served well, in that regard. It is also smart to stop since you are extraordinarily weak in the thinking department.
This has not been a competition to me, but practice.
I have faile in one regard...all the questions I have asked, all the sources I have sent you...have gone untouched due to your arrogance. If scientists have their heels dug in like you do, how scientifically reliable can DE be when attached so deeply to the self? Not all that pure and unbiased, is it?
Were you to dig a little more, you would find that ID is NOT what you claim, nor is it from that source. What was the "Blind Watchmaker" arguing against? (Although "Of pandas..." did partially launch the current movement, ID rests on certain logical principles that frustrate and confound materialists everywhere...especially the illiterate.) Have you read "Of pandas..."? I challenge you to read dissenting views. I certainly have read the opposition.
The fact that ID proponents share some common ground does not mean they agree idealogically. (Again, had you gone to the two sources I suggested, you would not have written much of your inane post.) Now, lumping people together erroneously for superficial reasons is bigoted. Sound familiar, Mr. Bunker?
You are fun, Mako. Although, I do wish you were older.
The lunatics truly have taken over the asylum now.
I thought that by changing a letter in my name Id have a chance of making some valid points on Glumbert, but the alias thing is completely out of control and it looks like its getting worse.
Stream, Randal, Mako, Skid, Miter, Pod, Rabz - all the good guys are fighting against these chickenshit impostors. Now we got this Angry guy whose making it impossible to read threads. What is all that about?
I think this may be my last post for a while.
NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK NOT CANUCK
This little guttersnipe is NOT moi....jeez.....you guys should KNOW this by now...LOL! JUst the fact he couldn't come out and reply to LA TEST should be proof enough! Like I said....I intimidate my stalkers so much...they must emulate me.
Miter...as for your question....are you referring to Niagra Falls?
Oh hell, looking back in time here, I see the correct answer to my "test question" but from the real canuck1963. Not that I thought camuck was you, funny what you find when you come back to these older strings!
The names don't really matter. The postings themselves are what bring us all here. What people say, how they say it, the choice to agree, or not, a chance to voice an opinion, share your own thoughts, make a comment, and some must get a high out of simply annoying other people. What does it matter the name they use? Some of the videos are great, others suck, but it's usually entertaining for a little while every few days to pop in and check it out, see what's on and what people have to say. It isn't brain surgery we're dealing with here. It's supposed to be enjoyable, isn't it? Even if people disagree, it usually involves what could be described as stimulating banter, at the very least.
Oh well. Nobody listen to me anyway. I just sneak in a thought here and there.
I just had a thought, what if something terrible happened to one of "us" and then suddenly no comments that person ever again? We would never know what happened, why, or when, we would be left to suffer from churning imaginations, anxiety level's increasing, heart's palpitating, hands sweaty, left to deal with the unknown.............
Soon the sharks would circle, taking a close alias to fool the mass's and fool some they would...oh the terror!
Then, one day, the anti alias would return to annihilate the alias, causing both evaporate into the know universe (the vast 9 dimensional glumbert space) for all eternity...
Do you have a nice Small.umm..7 1/4 inch miter compound saw you would be able to bequeath to me? Perhaps Mikita or hitachi? Incase of your untimely ,unfortunate and sad ,sad sooooo sad demise !LOL!
freetobe has it dead right. The original canuck wasn't real anyway. No background in the military, just a pathetic security guard for Walmart, first in Montreal, then in a small town nearby. I had a life on Glumbert, but eventhat got fucked up.
Well, it was great to hear from all of you. I guess names do matter here, in a way. At least when people are actually interacting, and responding to a certain person. I recognize, and respond to, some of the people I've seen that post here a lot. The thing is, I have no idea who I'm responding to, no matter what their name is! I still don't know anyone. Could be my neighbor, for all I know! There's food for thought! Canuck, whoever or wherever you are, glad to see you back, (on another more recent post). And randall, mako, you guys have talked to me before. I appreciate your comments. mitercut, I always admire a talented imagination, your way with words!
George Carlin has for years used comedy to drive home many political and social messages, this time he was not being a comedian at all! I am so saddened by the fact we have let United States of America be devoured by these power brokers! What can we do? Can we even take our Country back? It is hard to tell!
Reyeuro - nice points but power brokers will always remain. That is the way of the world. I get the feeling it's the way the current admin so brazenly broker that power that pisses off the common man.
My feeling is it's their abuse of international law, as well as abuses of homegrown decency and truth that makes regular people feel like they're being screwed.
Let's face it, the 'haves' will always normally 'have'.
The 'have nots' may get some help from state (less so it seems now)
It's the 'have somes', the regular everyday people, living normal law-abiding lives who seem to be getting screwed the most
Don't worry though, once the house of Cards / Bush has fallen and blown away like tumblegrass through the ruins of Dubya's disasterous presidency, what the world previously thought of as a great, great nation WILL be back where it belongs. Namely:
1.Spoken of with respect
2.Not seen as a rather hypocritical and bent world cop with a barely disguised, oil-driven imperialist agenda (The adminstration's denial of this is sickening in the contempt it shows for those who see through the lies)
3.Revered as the land of the brave and free.
At the moment it IS the land of the brave, but the brave are either the ones doing the dying in faraway lands, or living under increasing hardship under what frankly look like increasingly fascist 'homeland security' laws
This, coupled with a seemingly innate desire to merge church and state, means the 'free' part certainly ain't what it used to be.
Reyeuro and all Statesiders. I REALLY hope you do. The next election is SO, SO important!
And you know what, I think you will!
(Bush-style pre-emptive strike here - A.R.S.E / Chum...I know this will make you angry so I can't wait to see your bitter, cowardly, hate-filled, lying and bigoted response...if you can tear yourself away from lying prostrate in front of the Whitehouse wailing like a proselytizing mullah that is...)
R-I know your frustration. However, I disagree with it, as a sweeping generalization. What do you specifically refer? I think the struggle is in the word "we". Since the beginning the view of the world by some is: there is a limited and finite pie and we are all clamoring for our piece.
That is the wrong framework, in my opinion. There is an unlimited pie that we constantly create and draw from. Carlin may have some truth in his observations, but the overall we vs. they mentality is engendered by losers; people who are cynics and pessimists; small-minded types who willingly give their backs to the gubment and then complain about the returns; shallow-thinkers who uncritically blame one person for the US's problems; boors who cannot read or understand the US Constitution.
Mako, you certainly don't arouse my anger when you show your juvenile ability to think. The stereotypes you keep trying to apply to me continue to show you a bigot.
I have never lied. I have been bitter. I have never been hate-filled. I have never been bigoted. And I know you wouldn't assert cowardice sitting near me.
You are a proven bigot and a strongly suspected coward. Chumm showed your cowardice as you tried to rationalize your prostration to terrorism. I have showed your bigotry here and elsewhere for name-calling and ad hominems.
I am no fan of GWB. I am a fan of our current strategy against Islamo-fascism. That is about all I have in common with GWB. But, I can critically examine his ideas without hating him...the same way I could with the former POTUS.
Mako, when you grow up and move out of your grandma's basement, you might be able to do the same.
Stream'o'bullshit.... Wow! You've hit new levels of catty!
Do re-read my post above little hobbit. If you do it slowly enough, and out loud, you'll see I wasn't talking to you... Unless you ARE actually Chummin (A.R.S.E), in which case you've lied about having an alias? Care to comment?
BTW - You've also lied about saying you DIDN'T want Creationism taught in science classrooms. When your words were posted a little further above to expose you, you then have the gall to deny that's what you meant!!!? WTF?
Guess this isn't really cowardice but it IS just brain-numbing stupidity given the facts are laid out clearly
Oh well
I'll agree that where YOU are concerned, I may be a little hostile, and may appear bigoted. Can't help being that way with idiots.
You see... bottom line is your 'science' is not up to spec but you so clearly think you're an authority on the subject. Hence when I know you're streaming crap I remind you of the fact. In your defence I DO know your BELIEF is incredibly strong so I salute your conviction and understand FULLY why it blinds you so in the science arena. I feel for you. Honestly I do.
Call me all the names under the sun if it makes you feel better. No skin off my nose streamy. I'll stick with the usual retorts; arrogant, pompous, zealot until you offer any more acurate to describe your ramblings
Anyway.... WHY did you respond to a post directed at 'someone' else again?
This'll be the second time you've let that little bi-polarity problem peek above the cyber-parapet.... LOL
Finally on your response to Reyeuro's post - you said
"there is a limited and finite pie and we are all clamoring for our piece. That is the wrong framework, in my opinion. There is an unlimited pie that we constantly create and draw from"
What is this 'unlimited pie' you speak of? Is this a theoretical, soul-based or religious pie?
I mean in practical terms how does a poorly educated inner city, single parent on reducing benefits, with little education, hopes or horizons in life see this unlimited pie? Guess it's easy for us to say, get an education, get a job, get off your butt, but in some cases life kicks people even when they try to climb out of a hole.
So whilst I'm sure your opinion might really help these people, I'd strongly suggest that a practical understanding that THEIR 'pie' really is NOT infinite would be a better start...
Heard of Vilfredo Pareto by the way? Do try and refute him.
I'll enjoy a nice, very finite blueberry pie whilst you do. I'll only put cream on 20% of it.
PS My grandmother is long deceased, I assume she enjoys reading all your dead arguments too
Holy crap, Makepoo...you really are illiterate. You read, copied, reposted and reread what I wrote and then still made stuff up about it. Or, a liar. But, given your inablity to reason, oh risen ape, I am going with illiterate.
BTW--Some thread ago, you directed the ARSE acronym at me. Good try, little man.
I can answer your question succinctly (something you can never do): People everywhere go theough periods in their lives marked by being down, whether materially, emotionally, etc. I simply do not see the fed gubment as the solution. Local charities, churches and local governments do a much better job of filling those needs...more timely, more individualized and more responsibly, holding the recipient accountable for their behavior. In reality, their pie is infinite and is only limited by the constraints they place on themselves. Optimism creates ingenuity and pessimism suppresses it.
If you think (a) life is unfair to a degree that holds you down, or (b) your circumstances are insurmountable, or (c) the world owes you a living, then being a bottom feeder is where you are likely to end. Compassion feeds and then teaches how to obtain. How does the gubment do that?
See, that wasn't so hard, Wanko.
Now, since you can't think, I will help you with the 80/20 principle. (This is so easy): The wealth that is obtained is NOT finite. How can a country/state/city's wealth be finite if the population increases? If it decreases? I mean, honestly, Mako...can you think even a little? Pareto did not claim finiteness (at least I don't think he did). His principle describes a moment in time...a result...not the reasons why.
I do not refute Pareto...just, apparently, have to explain him to you...like science...like the Constitution...like basic 4th grade reading...
Soooo.... why were you replying to a post not directed at you again? Am unaware of ever directing the A.R.S.E name at you. Which thread was it?
LOL!
In any case you should know full well by now that you most certainly are NOT a residential special expert at anything other than wailing wildly about creationism.
To your point on pareto, ok, so you feel that the poor and needy have an infinitely large 'compassion pie' laid out before them. That's very grand of you to say so. I'm sure they'll feel sooo much better knowing that
Tell me, what is 80% of infinity? This is what these people really need to know.
Why does poverty exist if wealth is infinite?
Where can the poor get a slice of that infinity?
In practical, realistic terms?
Or are you simply just trying to sound wise and wisdom-filled without actually acknowledging the practical reality behind pareto? I guess in a strange way the same law can be applied to most of your posts.
80% bullshit, 20% justification of same...you're drowning like the 'witches' your forefathers persecuted there dumbo.
Carlin is right, just the wrong criminals. Kids can't read because the education establishment don't want them to. They want drones. Business doesn't run the schools. Business doesn't decorate the holes the poor live in then take away the ladder so they can't climb out. That's the guys you suckers adore and worship and keep sending your money to. That's why you're useful idiots. You're actually passing our jugs of water to the people who are pissing on you. Now, that's stupid! But yes, Carlin is right, except the old fart just can't bring himself to point his finger at the criminals since they're the ones signing his check. Like you Girls, he's accusing the good guys of his own sides' conspiracy. Way to go, Girls. You just stepped on your peckers one more time. Scatman
I'm wth you, freedomguy. We all need to file EXEMPT on our w-4 form. The whole country can't be arrested..... but I believe there are too many wimps in the good ole USA, too content to make a stand.
RON PAUL FOR PREZ hillary is just cheney in a pantsuit guillianni is the manchurian candidate for the unholy union of religious nuts, big bussiness, and neocons.....he's an incompetent liar ,
Oh, Fish-man, did you tell Ryeuro that you are a terror-symp as well as a crack analysts of all things you don't like but don't quite understand, living somewhere other than the US? Or that you are a constitutional scholar. ? New meat, huh? I'll bet he's older than you and will soon catch on.
Thanks for the bait, but No sense arguing when a person is so wrong. When you're wrong it's because of one of three things. (You know the drill). Misinformation, incompetence, or dishonesty. Because I know you from a few weeks back, you could be all the above. Problem is, as with your claim to be able to tell God where to get off, and what He has to do to be allowed in your life, i.e., who's the boss, it all comes out in the wash. I know I'm correct and you only think you do, and you have a lot less facts to back up your opinion. In the final analysis I win, and I'm willing to wait it. in the meantime, I don't debate fools and useful idiots. Especially those that drool.
But one question. Why do you keep asking me back here one day, then telling me to f**k off the next? Maybe you have what we call in America the Walter Mondale syndrome...just come out of retirement for one more good ass-whooping. Kinda makes me go all wobbly, it's so sentimental of you. Cheers, Ladies.
Mako...
It is illiteracy that pervades your posts. Now I understand. You are a product of the education that fed money bought. Good on ya, mate.
(Welcome back, Canuck...Mako suffers the same infirmities as you. You two roomies?)
I did not say nor imply that the infinitely large pie was laid out in front of the poor...implying that someone put it there. I was saying that in everyone's life certain opportunities avail themselves in different ways. Pessimism blinds us from seeing situations as opportunities...whe we think the world owes us a living, when we think we are singularly being treated unfair, when people like you condescend to believe that others cannot overcome their circumstances ad rise to a better life. (You are an arrogant, elitist prig.)
Your "80% of infinity" question is asinine. I pointed out that the 80/20 rule is a snapshot of a result of a particular time. (The 80% (of GDP, for example) , was greater in 1990 than in 1980...Some bozo like you wonders how the wealth increased over that period. It's always the basics, Einstein.)
Poverty exists because not everyone is willing to do what it takes to share in the mix or create their own. (I need a new frying pan...this one is charred and dented.)
Pareto stated a reality of a given moment...wonderfully useful tool and frame of reference. I suggest you read about the arguments against the use and misuse of his "Treatise".
Odd finishing note, Wanko...was that a rip on my forefathers as the forebears of me...or was it a rip on me drowning as the witch they persecuted. (Don't forget, in the analogy you are trying to (sigh-again) plagiarize from me...you play the ignorant public that is willing to go along with the elitist, in order to rise above your regular and average surroundings. Stay in your role, where you belong. You are serving well.)
Oh, I see...you're back again whining about what you MEANT to say rather than what you did... Ok.
I'm off to spend some of my infinite wealth. I might convert it to greenbacks and see how much I lose. Just because it's infinite of course.
Yeah, yeah, I know... your next post will simply say something about me being unreasonable, anyone reading my 'discourse' will note the illiteracy...'ad hominem' (your favourite term)...lack of 'logic and reason'...hubris of the materilaist...4th grade education... blah, blah, blah
Fire away. In the meantime I'll continue to rise above YOU and your singularly below average mental surroundings.
The 'ignorant' public, as you so arrogantly call them, will no doubt also be able to do the same given how medieval you seem to be
You really don't know your A.R.S.E from your elbow.
Stream, I don't think Mako is American. Which makes me worry about public schools in Britain almost as much as I do about it in America. Only, I have the good manners to only voice concern and not to pass out fix-it rules. I don think they way too many nannies, and daddyless mommies, so it figures thumb-suckers proliferate in that sort of petrie dish just as crabs do in an outhouse. Why don't you go onto some other site and pick out a 7th Grader. These girls wouldn't let you lead them out of the 5th grade with a 100 dolar bill. Cheers
Mako: Methinks you dig chummin's Don Rickles routine. And Chummin: Terror Symp wasn't cutting it anymore, so now we're on to the limeys? Good work. Me Tarzan, you Jane.
Mako, you can ride with my stable in the Caddie anytime. The Krug be chillin.
If you think that the power brokers control all, then just give the fuck up or move to the utopia that Carlin suggests, namely.... Oh, right, there is no suggestion coming, is there?. Carlin is an American, living in the richest country in the history of the world. There is massive opportunity for anyone with the nerve, balls, effort, or moxie to go out and chase it. This does not mean everyone will be living the high life - there will always be rich and poor, as there is only so much to go around, and the bigger share is always going to go to those who are smarter and work harder than to those who are morons or lazy or wait for a fucking handout. But even the poor in the U.S. still have clothes, food and cable TV, a basic level of eduction, a social safety net, and civil and human rights. There is nothing inherently wrong or broken with the U.S. or western society or capitalism. There are always going to be people who bitch and moan that life has not been as easy or fortunate for them as for others. But to say that the tables are stacked against people in the U.S. is fucking laughable. Just speak to any immigrant from a dictatorship or somewhere where corruption is rampant to get a true sense of what it is like living where you have no power or opportunity. But New Jersey? California? Give me a fucking break.
If we live in the richest country in the world, why do we borrow so much money from overseas? If that's so, why does the value of the dollar continue to drop, while the value of gold continues to increase? If we are the richest country in the world, why should we put up with ANYTHING that's wrong, just because some other people have it worse off? You get mad if someone promises you something important and then don't do it, right? Well, I do too.
It isn't about life being EASY. It's about the fact that we fought tooth and nail, had our men die - THREE DIFFERENT WARS fought in this country for sovereignity. Count 'em. The American Revolution, The War of 1812, and The Civil War.
You will complain when it finally breaks, and you'll probably be mad because you didn't see it coming. You can't see it coming because too many people have the mindset that it can't happen here. Hitler was VOTED IN, by a landslide. Every country on earth, all 190 of them has had a governmental change, overthrow, succession, or otherwise revolution. Many of them more than once. Why can't it happen here? It can, and it will at some point. Probably sooner rather than later. But probably later if everyone continues to put up with incrimental reductions of our basic freedoms that this country was founded on, until you can't drive to work without passing through military checkpoints, be back in your house by a certain curfew hour, and have absolutely no redress of grievances to the government no matter what they do.
I don't think it's fucking laughable. I think it's a fucking outrage that if foreign troops invaded our country in the future people like you would hide in your house, duck your head, and hope the police or the military saves your ass. We founded this country by citizens picking up their arms to fight off an occupying army, and now how many citizens don't own firearms, have never fired a weapon, or would even consider them needfull at all?
This is the shit that keeps me up and night and outrages me whenever I hear naive comments like that, because it won't be you, or people like you that will defend others, because you won't even be capable of defending yourself.
When the dollar finally drops low enough because no one will lend our country a few trillion more dollars, and OPEC stops selling barrells of oil in US Dollars, and our economy falls into recession - AGAIN - this time probably worse... will we still be the richest country in the world? Even the man with 100$ in his pocket can be mugged, beaten, and left penniless by someone willing and able to take full advantage of the fact that you are simply, an easy target.
Well, since I am not American or living in your country (the Internet is international you know), you are right on one point. If someone invades the good ol U.S. of A., I probably won't be there to help.
You probably fear those black helicopters, right? What the hell are you talkinig about, afraid that people are not carrying guns or having to go through military checkpoints? Have you ever travelled out of the U.S? There are too many countries where such checkpoints exist, that would absolutely cream themselves to have the amount of economic power and freedoms that Americans enjoy every day.
I agree, anyone living in a free country (as I do too) must have a degree of vigilance and be watchful for incremental erosions on freedoms. I would gladly pick up a gun and fight to protect freedoms and free speech. But that is not the point of Carlin's speech. He is talking about people feeling victimized and marginalized, when they have more opportunity available to them than about 98% of the people who live now, or have ever lived, on the planet.
I also agree, Bush has maybe fucked your country royally, with the massive debt the US. has, you could be poised for a massive downfall, taking much of the rest of the world on a scary ride. But that is also not the point of Carlin's diatribe. He is not decrying the big economic crisis, but saying that right now the little guy in America is getting fucked. And to that, I say... Bullshit.
By the way, you Yanks lost the War of 1812. Not sure how that established much of your hard-won sovereignty.
