Not today gymyg...I was going to install a BIG metal exterior door, using a sealant that was for "use in extreme cold" only thing is, to them extreme cold is 20 degrees....today's high....14! It's now 4:28 eastern time, 11 degrees, snow coming down like it means it, already heard I-94 westbound is closed and two ambulance's have gone by...it's been a "Call of Duty 4" kind of afternoon!
I read yeats when it's snowing, makes perf' sense. Of cource you need beer, and maybe some herb, and than you may-as-well go out and play, you know how it goes.
Guten Abend Glumberters.
Yes, I know Herr Ramblerouser - ENGLISH MUTHAFUCKA!!
Zis video is inane. I vill show it to ze men at ze Cowboy Closet. Zey may like it.
How true Gymyg. We'll be bitching and moaning about how hot it is. I personally like the cold. Good for business. The snow, on the other hand, got tired real fast.
Cool vid Miter and glad you managed no serious injuries on the ATV.
Love those laser things, a friend of mine picked one up at the Patpong market and it was something like 50watts. It had a range of about a couple of kms. We had fun shining it through the windows of surrounding appartments and watching people get freaked out by the green dot racing round their room.
Found a far more powerful one that burns through its paper wrapping if put close enough. Only about 5k baht which is about $160. Gonna have to get me one of those... Not sure how legal they are but hey, closest equiv to a light sabre I can find...
mako, my laser is a 250 mw, it burns through just about anything black or real dark in color, will blind any eye in a micro second. Therefore I can't do the devilish torment of neighbors, or animals. This one has an 85-100 mile range. As a pointer they are not legal in the US, but are legal in other capacities. My main purpose and use of this one is for pointing out stars for people when I have the telescope up and running. I do have to be very careful about aircraft, not to mention low altitude manned spacecraft!
Miter, cool vid, my wife hid my laser ever since the cops showed up at the house across the river, they called about the strange green lights every friday night. Lasers in tall grass are also cool. You my have trumatized the birds in your bird house.
gymyg, no birds are "in the house" this time of year! Oh yes cops and lasers...or should I say lasers in the hands of your (my) oldest son!
While camping on my land up in northern MI, (Torch Lake) my son decided it would be real funny to send a beam up to a passing airplane (12000-15000 feet up) which he did for a mere second before I shut him down (smaller 5mw laser), but...this small plane immediately did a dive for us! He got down to about 500 feet and started to circle my acreage for what seemed like 15- 20 min, every time he would be to our east going north he would shine a small flashlight at us in some sort of "code" (not Morse) I started getting paranoid, since this was the 4th of July weekend, I had a LOT of heavy duty fireworks with me. Suddenly roaring over the tree tops came this huge Coast Guard helicopter shining the brightest twin beams of light I've every seen! He made several passes over us, stopped, hovered, got a good look at us, then left, along with the airplane, that was it! The next day, a state cop showed up to "talk with us"...turns out the airplane was with the Civil Air Patrol, and they were looking for a vintage MIG that had gone missing while on it's way to the Traverse City 4th celebrations, they thought we were the downed MIG signaling! The officer had a little discussion with my son about shining ANY light at aircraft! They never found the MIG.
mako, I hope not! I wouldn't want to waste their time and I don't do anything illegal, so I don't know why I would, the only thing remotely close to illegal would be my pyro endeavours and carrying a .45 ..but I have licenses that allows me these activities. I held a rather high security clearance from my past life in the pharmaceuticals industry (or did). I've been raked through the coals so to speak, getting both my concealed carry and explosives licenses, I have no criminal record, never did, I don't even have any points on my drivers license! So I'm a good guy that would never hurt anyone. So let em watch, I've made it easy for them, go to mitercut on YouTube LOL!!
Weve got so much snow here in Brighton Ontario that a back hoe had to pull our 4 x 4 outta the driveway so the little woman could go to work we had chains under the tires neighbours with the snowblowers the works took 1 hr to get outta a 30 foot driveway oh and on that note when i was a kid i used to walk to school in 30 feet of snow uphill bothways lol
In Chugwater ve haf two inches von snow. Not much, but it is cold enough to freeze ze gonads from ein Pink Fairy Armadillo. Mein vedding tackle has geshrunken so much zat I look like ein voman!
On Cape Cod in Massachusetts we had just 2.5 inches of snow last evening...thought about using the snowblower, but figured I'd wait till the next day. Got up this morning, and all snow was gone...raining like the devil, and temps in the high 40's. Glad I didn't waste the effort with the blower. Have only had to use the blower twice so far this season...hope I am not jinxing things by making that comment.
I don't mind snow itself, but worry about driving conditions, treefalls, and power outages...they can realy wreak damage. Lost three trees in '91 during "Hurricane Bob"....house across the street lost maybe 15 trees, including one or two that knocked off their back deck, and smashed through their roof...they spent the time quaking in their basement wondering if they'd make it (they moved off-cape afterwards).
Spring....what a nice word....hurry up and get here! (I had central A/C installed a year ago and no longer worry about too much heat in summer.) Life is good - after winter, that is.
