With (obvious) talent like that it seems to me you could have come up with something that wasn't quite so offensive to those who are serving in Iraq and with different views than yours. This extreme satirical stuff is separating us all more than you realize. You are entitle to your views--but the use of a yellow ribbon (to indicate someone has missing loved one in the war) is cold and heartless. Please, let us all bridge this gap by applying our talents and intelligence where it will actually make a difference. Thank you.
I'm offended, both as a military member and as someone who's friend was killed in a Humvee in November. Its polarizing and unnecessary. They're exploiting the media's interpretation of the war and banking off of it. I have a MA in Political Science w/ a focus on Security and Democracy, and we're doing the right thing in Iraq. Anyone who hasn't done empirical research on the facts and what were doing should shut the fuck up and do what they're trained to do: write code, paint pretty pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge and manage the local Walmart.
The separation came along time ago, when the Bush administration ignored the American people for their own gain.
This performance is outrageous... and about time. It is about time the American people started to swear and kick ass and call it what it is. Any idiot could have seen this impossible situation we have created in Iraq coming, if they had opened their eyes. My eyes were full of tears on the day they moved into Bagdad.
Most Americans know nothing about the world. Most know next to nothing about their own nation. How about you give the pros a chance to solve this, the world's problem, so our children and our childrens' children don't have to carry on our fight. Send me to Iraq, send me wherever. As long as it keeps my children out of harm's way I'll fight to the end.
I liked it.....the truth hurts. I think that a lot of people think that they are contributing something great, however, those guys and gals out there are sacrificing their lives. It really is a shame that we can't do more for them, but I commend their bravery and thank them for their efforts in supporting our country.
We don't need your pity, just your thanks. Are we contributing something great? You think not? The answer is yes, and that something great is service. Putting your life on the line for your nation's interests, and the way of life of its people. Answering the call to defend liberty... because somebody has to.
No soldier that dies is measured by the circumstance. What war was it? Was he in a popular battle? Was he charging or retreating? It doesn't matter. What matters is that for every one of you that lives to an old, ripe age and gets to rock their grandchildren to sleep in their arms, there is a young man or woman who died to give you that right. Their blood is represented by the red on our flag, and you own them for a life of liberty. Don't pity them... just remember. Thats all anyone asks.
I totally agree to supporting our troops in Iraq. I also am glad that the Bush administration did what they did when they did or we would have more on our hands then just a war in another country.
