why dont they just clean up this place? it must cost a lot to run and normal folks would like to live there. you could keep a few of these guys as workers or something but the rest could go into homes and be given drugs and then theyd be happier.
There's nothing new in this. Camphill communities flourish all over the UK and were the brainchild of a madman called Rudolf Steiner who believed that buildings should have no corners because the devil could hide in them, and who insisted that everyone should eat only white meals at Christmas.
They are basically run by unpaid (expenses only) wannabe social workers from all over Europe who have neither the skills nor training to manage their charges.
That said, they perform a valuable service, providing care which state establishments are either unable or unwilling to give and it would be churlish to criticise them too much.
