Thanks Mako,

It is a very good film, but over simplified complex philosophies are rarely understood or accepted by those who cleave to fear based ideologies.

IMO 90 percent of what is presented here is correct, but most will not even have the technological basis to see the 10 percent that is false.

The real problem of bootstrapping a society up from a immature form of social barbarism, is time and mental energy devoted to the disentanglement of accepted social propaganda and idolatry.

To put it simply: A drowning man is not concerned about the quality of the water in which he is drowning, but the necessity of immediate survival.

On NetFlix online video there is more on this subject: Speaking Freely with John Perkins in which economic consultant John Perkins takes aim at himself, confessing his shameful role in helping organizations such as World Bank and the IMF drive poor nations into crippling debt while enriching U.S. corporations.

Just watched Zeitgeist addendum, what does one say after watching that?

All i would say is, when they say Debt is slavery, surely life is a form of slavery anyway, as in every day we have to perform tasks to keep ourselves alive. I suppose debt is another worry on top of the instinctive ones?

I think this is your point Pod?

skid - Actually, I was commenting on the overarching problem of social philosophies, and the problem of changing individual mindsets.

IMO:

Debt is more like financial servitude, rather than slavery, because one has the option of entering into legal agreements that bind their future earnings to another party.

However, debt unpaid is a tax on yourself and everyone in the country and their descendants. Which is why credit is viewed as abhorrent in many religions.

1st - There are many causes of the current financial Katrina, and at the root of it all are the uncapped credit card limits, and the usury rates applied to all CC debt, regardless of federal or state laws to the contrary.

2nd - There is a corporate plutocracy that controls the money supply, and federal and state government.

3rd - Lack of basic or even financial education, leads people to believe that credit is the only to purchase, and is the same as cash.

4th - The medical system has been privatized as well, and as a result a form of economic extortion has been created where it is literally your money or your life.

5th - Globalization, outsourcing, and driving a national industrial base to cheap labor, and further increasing the debt market, while in the same time removing any chance of generating the GNP needed to pay off such debt.

6th - Government has lost its way from a regulatory body, and has been transformed into some kind of quasi-mega- corporation that is run entirely for the benefit of it's employees, and not to the nation.

Pod,

I think i noted somewhere that you haven't got a mortgage, well i have two which to me do feel like a form of slavery. The word slavery means to be owned, well i do very much feel like am owned by someone.

The way i see it, the film is making lots of points, firstly money is the root of all evil, it is an instant debt, the moment you withdraw. Then it goes on to highlight how America has exploited other countries using a simple formula.

I believe money or a form of currency is not the issue, we all need to be able to buy and sell from each other.

However the exploitation of others by using money and using interest charged is the issue here, hence my mortgage, if i just had to pay back what i borrowed i wouldn't worry, but no i'm paying back 6 to 7 times that sum.

It goes back to the green something, apologies for my lack of knowlegde, what was it a interest free currency, which was scrapped because it wouldn't make anyone money i suppose

POd , your'e a clever sausage am i off the mark?

I had a mortgage, and it went up to 12 1/2 percent for some time as well. But I lived without all the cool things that I wanted for a very long time and payed that sucker off. ...and with no help from the US taxpayer.

Currency is not the issue, but debt backed currency is. Ron Paul has had some interesting points to make on feit currency. IMO currency should not be solely backed by precious metals (green backs), but to back debt, with more debt is just stupid.

The thing about credit and a consumer economy is that they form a deadly embrace, neither can let go without the entire edifice falling to ruin.

Pacmansex, it may just be me, but I think sinkingboat's combination of perverted qualities and the fact that he has the hots for you is not a good thing.
On the bright side, I know never to put a picture of myself on this website.

Total drivel! A bunch of smug Rotarians being condescending and applauding the cute little deformed yellow person.
It's like a dog on its hind legs. She plays well enough, but not well enough to be considered a real virtuoso.
By the way, I am full of shit.

Arse - I agree with your assessment. Its a true achievement on a personal level, but on a pianist level its quite bizarre.

Thankyou Pod. Agreeing that I am full of shit is bang on.
This is a bit like an amoeba performing Chopsticks. Amazing, but not something that will enhance the human condition. I want to see the video of the retarded West Virginian explaining why the world's banking system has collapsed.
Ooops! We've already had that.
