HAHAH this is great! Do you know why servants steal from you? because you pay them shit wages.... I was born in Africa and our servants were all poor uneducated black women. They loved us and never stole from us. In fact when we left we gave them all of our possessions in the house. We paid them 15-20% more than what other families paid their servants. For that they were gracious and treated us w/ respect, and vice versa. White People: if you treat your servants like "servants" they will stab you in the back. ... i'm asian btw.
Bube's right! Had a nanny called Rita and her hubby James was our gardener when we lived in Kenya. They lived in their own place next to the house and as kids we would play and go to school with their kids. They were effectively family... Still, the idea of having a 'servant' is still anathema to many and I can understand that too... some countries still have that mindset that's all, and it can be a big proportion of employment

buckcronkite, I agree with all of what you say,but didn't the ''natives ''pass their history to the younger generations through dance & initiations of a youth to manhood . Didn't the elders over see these ceremonies?
I have 2 jobs. On the weekends and summers, I work with several women who speak English to me and Spanish to each other. They laugh often. I am a selfcentered white chick. I am sure they are laughing at me and yet they claim they are talking about clothes or dances. Mi Espanol as muy mal. Yo no tango idea what the hell they are saying. One amigo wanted me to teach him English so he could speak better. His favorite thing to tell me was, "Jen, I love you too much." I told him he already knew too much English.
