There's no way you can hold onto a 170-200 lb human body when you open a chute. Upon opening the chute, you slow from ~120 to 10 mph, and reach around 3-4g of deceleration, which means the guy with the parachute needs to be able to hold onto 510-800 lbs with just his arms and legs...
