What actually happens is that Scott pulls the red pillow "cut away" handle. At the same time the instructor deploys the pilot chute which deploys the parachute but Scott had already released the cut-away. In his narrative he states that he deployed the parachute. Does he really still believe that he deployed the parachute? He's a moron. Good work buy the instructors saving this dumb ass' life.
