If scorpions leave me alone I will not harm them. If, however, they come near me when I have a calf by my side, I will roll on them and squash them like the insects they are. This would give me no pleasure, but protecting one's offspring is a basic instinct, even among the gentlest of creatures.
It is hard to see how a shrew might be a threat to my calf, but if, for instance, a million shrews attacked my calf, I would roll on them to the best of my ability, risking my life for my offspring.

If the human gymyg came hunting me with his rifle, I would hide up a tree until he was beneath me, and fall on his neck with fangs and claws, ripping his carotid artery and drinking his blood before he fell to the ground. I would then eat him.

We don't have any of those ugly suckers in the hilltowns, we do have black flies, they will eat anything. And they do it slowly and gradualy until you're ready to kill yourself to make it quick.
