Ethical journalism. I don't like pervs but there is something questionable about paying an organization to entrap people online and then sit back and video the whole thing. NBC is so bad... bad journalism, unethical journalism. The police should be doing this not some group hired by a tv show.

one less pervert to deal with!!!!!!

Man whats up with American media... is everything soley about doing anything for ratings???

WTF
Its not entrapment if they go into the chat room and sit there and wait to be contacted first. If Perverted Justice/NBC begin the conversation then I'd agree that that is entrapment.

Talk about a backfire

My question and maybe i missed it. What crime did the guy in the house commit? He didnt goto some young boys house and get caught on tape, like the show usually unfolds.
Sure he is a sicko for lusty for a young boy and should be dead, but where is the due process?
In many US states its a crime to go to a place seeking sex from a minor. In a few states its a crime just to talk to a minor about sex in a chatroom on a phone etc. Did this man commit a crime? That would be up to the law to prove.

You know what we've all become?

Remember that movie "The Running Man" with Arnold (based on a Stephen King story)? That is what we live in now. Catching so-called "predators" or "criminals" in front of an audience, and serving it up as fodder for our own entertainment. Okay, maybe this guy was a sex offender, but as grinreeper said above, what the fuck ever happened to "due process"?? What if my neighbour is pissed off at me for not returing his lawn mower, and concots a story about me and calls the cops? Am I gonna see the TV cameras outside my house, along with the 82nd Airborne armed to the tits? Or will I have to RUN, with the cameras following me from land and air, while Ma and Pa Kettle eat their TV dinners, watching it unfold as "reality TV"?

We've become pathetic.

Stephen King wrote "The Running Man" almost 30 years ago (or thereabouts). I can't help but wonder of he, as well as Hollywood, were onto something.

Or knew something we didn't.

Are you a member of N.A.M.B.L.A or something? A so called "predator", the guy was chatting with what he thought was a boy, he was a predator and also a chickenshit for killing himself rather than face up to what he had done.

depends if the mower was underage or not.

This seems to be actually a good piece of journalism. It calls into question the method and the "judge jury and executioner" style of the t.v. show.

I agree with canuck, we are becoming the running man society. I think a lot of authors who write science fiction are on to somethin. When was the last time you read 1984 by Orwell?

Also... how come it's never women who are soliciting sex with minors in chat rooms or getting caught in shows like that? I wonder.

The women are busy in classrooms molesting their student's, or haven't you paid attention to the news the last few years?
Most women will tell you that they could get laid at the drop of a hat. These men are either sick, or just to lazy to find a real woman as opposed to a 13 year old with no self esteem or proper parental guidance. Hookers would be alot cheaper in the long run, maybe someone should tell these guys where the "HO-TRACK" in their city is at! And by the way, most "HO-TRACKS" have male hookers too!

And I thought the show "COPS" was bad. From the moment it aired, I knew "To Catch a Predator" was going to run into problems because of zealousness on many levels: the eagerness of the public to catch sexual predators, the eagerness of law enforcement to catch them and look good, and the salivation the network has for high ratings.

Once alleged sexual predators are caught, there's plenty of time for the media to be involved. I hate when any network gets involved in police procedures. It's not about justice, bottom line for them, it's for ratings. Kill your TV!
To me it seems like if the cops were doing their jobs, then maybe the media wouldn't have to be the ones stepping up and doing it to make a profit/gain an audience.

rofl i love around when there 4:11 left the cop is like ''i think they know were in there" NO FUCKING DUH DIPSHIT youve only got about 30 police cruisers, cameras fucking everywhere.....and a whole lot of other shit........

The gun shot to the head is almost admitting guilt. He was just too much of a coward to own up to being a pervert who likes little boys. As the mother of 2 young boys, I AM GLAD HE IS GONE....NEXT!!!!

The next time someone starts telling you how important it is to "protect kids from online predators," send them to this record of the DC Internet Caucus panel on kids and predation, wherein quantitative social scientists describe the real situation with predators and kids. Kids do get preyed upon, but not in the way that it's depicted in the media, and none of the cell-phone-tracking, spyware-installing fear-based parenting does squat to protect them. If you want to keep your kids safe, you need to know what you're keeping them safe from.

But actually, the research in the cases that we’ve gleaned from actual law enforcement files, for example, suggests a different reality for these crimes. So first fact is that the predominant online sex crime victims are not young children. They are teenagers. There’s almost no victims in the sample that we collected from – a representative sample of law enforcement cases that involved the child under the age of 13.

In the predominant sex crime scenario, doesn’t involve violence, stranger molesters posing online as other children in order to set up an abduction or assault. Only five percent of these cases actually involved violence. Only three percent involved an abduction. It’s also interesting that deception does not seem to be a major factor. Only five percent of the offenders concealed the fact that they were adults from their victims. Eighty percent were quite explicit about their sexual intentions with the youth that they were communicating with.

So these are not mostly violence sex crimes, but they are criminal seductions that take advantage of teenage, common teenage vulnerabilities. The offenders lure teens after weeks of conversations with them, they play on teens’ desires for romance, adventure, sexual information, understanding, and they lure them to encounters that the teams know are sexual in nature with people who are considerably older than themselves.

Just a few points here, to restore some sanity to the comments section. 1: Nobody executed anyone, this man shot himself. Which is something that can happen when a person has a really horrific secret like this and you expose them. But then, your not exposing them for their sake, you're doing it for everyone else.
2: It may be a prosecutors nightmare to have news media and private organizations collecting evidence for a case, but those cases would never have even existed without the media, now would they? I say let a jury decide if video, audio, and chat logs from MSNBC and perverted justice is less valid than similar hard evidence with an official stamp on it.
3: We are not living in a society that is anything like a cheesey 80's movie, just like we are not living in 1984 or a brave new world or any. other. fictional. universe.

weregeek:

You missed the WHOLE point. Utterly, and completely.

1. The guy chose suicide. Okay. Fine. But that is NOT the issue here. The issue here is called "DUE PROCESS"; the issue here is "INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW". This man taking his own life is not proof of ANYTHING.

2. It's not the fucking media's job to do detective work. It's the fuckin' COPS job to do that. Would YOU ever want NBC, CNN, CBS or (God forbid) FOX News collecting evidence on YOU one day? Give your noggin a shake, dude. It's because of what the news media did in THIS case, that helped convict this man in the court of public opnion. Now, he's dead and gone with NO way to bring him to account for his ALLEGED crimes.

3. I've been a correctional officer for over two decades, and here's a wake-up call for you: after having dealt with many, many accused and convicted sex offenders (including those who've performed acts against children), there is a genuine and recognized pattern to them: a majority of them do NOT involve violent acts; they are usually known to the victim (i.e. a family member, a relative, etc); it's very RARE any of them pack a gun. In this segment, this guy blew his brains out; the gun issue here is a moot point, because pretty well a majority of Americans have one, so this proves nothing as far as this case goes. Although child sex offenders are sinister and, at times predatory, a HUGE majority of them do NOT pack a weapon to commit their offences. It's like saying a career thief or embezzler can wake up one day and suddenly become a child rapist. No way. But because the media set all of this up, it became a fuckin' circus, and the idea of "due process" got flushed down the toilet. All that was missing was Richard Dawson appearing on camera, announcing "THEY'VE CORNERED HIM! HE'S IN THE HOUSE!! BEN RICHARDS IS NOW A DEAD MAN!!"

You want more enlightenment? Look above at redm's post; she has no problem whatsoever in pushing the idea of a "lynch-mob" mentality. So between her, and people like yourself who support more MEDIA involvement in police work, I'd say that if we're not already living in a "Running Man" or "1984"-type society, we're well on our way to getting there.

Thanks to people like you two.

Did I miss something? Did the media knock on his door before the cops got there? How did the media cause this man who chats with boy's about sex (since we don't want to label him a molestor) to kill himself?
roballmighty:

Are you as much of a retard as these other folks? Or can't you read?

When this guy looks out his window and sees not only the cops running around like a bunch of retarded John Waynes PLUS an army of TV cameras and said cops WEARING said fuckin' TV cameras, then you pretty well get the idea that a fair trial ain't gonna happen.

Am I a member of NAMBLA? Ummm, nope. I'm not a member of them, any more than YOU have a high school diploma, you illiterate fuckin' dimwit.

Next time READ what I wrote, before you actually make a fuckin' douche of yourself.

What part of "DUE PROCESS UNDER THE LAW" don't you fucking get???

Fuuuuuck.
You are a fucking idiot. Just because someone doesn't agree with you you get all hostile, you probably haven't been to work lately to let the inmates toss yer salad, or give you a good ramming in the poop chute. Go suck a dick so you can calm down or something you hostile S.O.B. Was that literate enough for you?
This guy is dead because HE KILLED HIMSELF. Innocent people do not do that when being confronted or arrested by law enforcement. He did everyone a big favor. And those of you bitching about "due process", he is the one who denied himself of that. He will never have his day in court because he knew he was guilty and couldn't live with himself.
Well, it IS the responsibility of the cops to see that he (or any other potential suspect) do NOT get the opportunity to kill themselves. That's a part of their job too. Did ya know THAT? So since this guy was successful in offing himself, I guess the cops fucked up in that regard as well, huh? Absolutely they did. I wonder what THAT'LL do for the ratings now.........
eseltzer:

Do you actually READ what's written here, or are you just naturally fucking stupid?

If the idiotic cops had gone in and PROFESSIONALLY did their jobs, without the fuckin' media there like vultures to capture it all on tape, then he could have been quickly and efficiently be taken into custody. PERIOD. As it stands, yeah ok, he whacked himself. He accomplished two things by doing this: 1. he escaped justice, by not having to answer for his ALLEGED crimes, and thereby denying whatever victims may or may not be out there a sense of accountability and closure; 2. In the eyes of the law, he's gone to his grave an innocent man. While the fact that he shot himself may or may not indicate guilt, the fact remains is that he was convicted of NOTHING. How many times have you read about folks who kill themselves not because they were guilty of any crime, but because of a simple thing like their reputations being tarnished? This guy was a District Attorney. Who's to say what went through his head when he pulled that trigger? I don't know. And niether does an ignorant, shit-for-brains-redneck like yourself. I guess all those soldiers from Iraq who plug themselves after coming home are guilty of something too, right?

Don't be so fuckin' stupid, ok?

If anyone tried to fuck YOU up, and deny YOU "due process", you'd prolly be the first one to cry like a little baby.

This guy got away too easy. And the media helped him do it. And retards like yourself cheer them on.

Savvy?

WOW, you really take all of this a little too personal. You must have some kind of guilty pedophile conscience.

Get a life you mfers. Items are posted here for entertainment purposes, not for pretenders to spout shallow intellect to kill time between jack off sessions.
Well, "throbstick", with a moronic name like yours, it's pretty obvious who the expert in "jack off sessions" is. It's about as original as mud.

So get back down into your little hole, and STFU while the adults talk here.

Innocent untill proven guilty. That is the only key to real justice.

i live in Switzerland and i can tell you that what I have seen there is worse than what i could ever imagine about justice in USA. I just can't believe that it is possible. As barbaric as the gladiators in Roma.
If the money that has been invested in those TV shows was invested to help the police and justice you would have a much safer country.
Adults. Yeah right. I can see what value you're adding to society by spending all this time on glumbert. Sensitive too, huh? Perhaps that's how you ended up in Canada while the real adults were losing their lives in Vietnam. Pussy.
Uhhh.......what?

Like, you're not THAT fucked in the head....are you?

WTF does Vietnam have to do with this video? Or even the discussion thread on it? Seems to me the only "adults" who died in Vietnam were the ones who were sent to their deaths for nothing (most of whom were drafted KIDS, btw), by yet another lying Administration.

And as for spending time on Glmubert, I find it entertaining. So sue me. At the very least, it gives me a chance to slap around ignorant trailor trash like yourself.

"Sensitive"? Ahh, no. I actually laughed my ass off at your "pussy" comment. Yeah...okay....riiiiiiiight.
And WTF does Running Man have to do with with clip you stupid idiot??? Yet another example that you choose to watch versus participate in life. It's sad enough that you actually remember the film, but the fact that you took the time to reference Stephen King ... well ... a sorry reflection on your pathetic life.
Oh, and the fact that you don't know how to spell "trailer" suggests that you are the uneducated trailer trash. Don't blame it on a typo, the o is nowhere near the e.
It's called a M-E-T-A-P-H-O-R, you dumb fuck.

You DO realize that with each post you make, you look more and more like a backwoods fucktard, don't you?
It's a typo.
There's absolutely no metaphorical link between Running Man and this clip.

I can only conclude that this is another typo and you were actually referencing another of your favorite sci-fi (I live in the basement of my parents house) movies M-E-T-E-O-R.
Running Man: Accused criminal chased by paid agents of a TV network and set up by the same TV network, for the sole gratification of the audience and ratings. The "pursuit" is broadcast for said audience.

This clip: Allegedly accused criminal cornered in his house by paid agents of the system, after being set up by a TV station, for the gratification of the audience and ratings. The "takedown" is broadcast for said audience.

"Meteor": A movie starring Sean Connery, Brian Keith (deceased) and Martin Landau, which has NOTHING to do with this video clip (much like Vietnam).

Happy?

Now STFU.
Sad, sad, sad that you know so much about movies, but nothing about the real world (not the reality show). Try to go outside today.
I did.

That's why I'm so very smart and knowledgeable.

About everything.
And yet here you are again. Must be the weather in Canada that keeps you indoors watching HBO, playing computer games, and surfing the net. Perhaps you can relate to the suicider in this clip based on your internet usage.
Not really.

It's a just a mild form of amusement at putting a know-nothing, argument-skirting, point-evading, home-schooled dope like yourself.....in his place.

Besides, with a handle like "throbstick", I'd sure be careful about bringing "internet usage", or why you're "surfing the net".
Hmmm, seems like name-calling is the only ammunition you have. Weak.

"Point-evading" would suggest that you actually made a point in the first place. Obviously not the case.

"Argument skirting"? You're only arguments seem to repeat what I've slung. I know it's good stuff, but please try to show some originality.
I did.

Three posts ago.

And you ignored it completely (comically, I might add).

So anytime you want to stop evading the points I've made, or skirting the arguments I've put forth, feel free to jump in anytime, Einstein.

And finally, thank you for FINALLY admitting that you do nothing but "sling" shit.

There may be hope for you after all, Jethro.

Ya know, it works out.

Perverted faggoty child molestor.
Uhhhh....you must be from Arkansas....right?
I find it pathetic that this guy has unpaid supporters. A paid lawyer maybe but not common citizens who have children and lead a decent life.

Look none of the pieces of shit caught on these shows is innocent. I don't give a fuck about trial. It's illegal to arrange a meeting over the internet for sex with a minor and then follow through on that arrangement. These idiots are talking with children about sex and voila I see them on camera at the same house that the arrangements were made for. The camera doesn't lie. There's no green screen background, no special effects. These guys showed up to meet a child tat they had been speaking with about sex. I wish they would all blow a hole in their skull.
"I don't give a fuck about trial".

Nice of you to take time out from yourcross-burning Youth Rally, you fuckin' Nazi, to share your enlightened, fair-minded view.
So, we're to feel sorry for this child molestor??? Don't think so. I feel sorry for the family he chose to leave behind.
Obviously he needed to kill himself...otherwise the embarassment would have...probably goof that he is no longer in the gene pool.

Hey wait a minute! Don't sexual predators have the right to keep on doing what their doing? I mean, who are we to stop them? After all, any one of us would have done the same thing if we found ourselves in a chat room with a vulnerable thirteen-year-old, wouldn't we? Instead of catching them before they molest or rape a child, shouldn't we wait until they've destroyed a child's life before we bother to lift a finger to stop them? After all, they have rights too. And don't forget, for most of them, it's their first time! Give them a break! It's unfair to lead them on like that! When I'm just sitting there minding my own business in a chat room planning a sexual encounter with a thirteen-year-old, shouldn't I have the right to go and have sex with them? I mean, come on! It just wouldn't be right because not only would you take away my exciting sexual encounter with the child, you also take away my freedom to do it again and again. You are all bullies. You just want to take away people's rights!

(In case it's not obvious, that was all sarcasm. I do not really do those things.)
