its amazing, because even though your given the free will to mock Christ and spit in his face , he still has unconditional love for you. those kids are just assholes.
Aren't they simply exersising their "free will?" ...Thou shal not judge!!!! ...Thou shal not judge!!!! ...Thou shal not judge!!!! ...Thou shal not judge!!!! ...Thou shal not judge!!!!
I'll join with the folks above...Glumbert may not be a bastion of high minded principles, but it doesn't need to become a forum for this sort of pathetic display.
grp24 - Maybe you're young, or have the arrogance common to the faithful.
But, how patronizing, and condescending can you be, to presume that I need spiritual guidance? In my 50 plus years on this planet, do you think I have not heard that kind of condensation before?
Maybe you don't mean it that way, but take my advice and don't offer to be a guide, unless you know someone is lost. It's just insulting.
And... The worst thing about this video is the vile, horrific scenes that some sick mind had to put to film. What kind of sick mind would create such a film, and what sicker mind would want to pay him to see it?
Maybe it the same guy as the 2g1c film. I put them both in the same category, classless, tasteless, perverse exploitation of the lowest of human behaviors, it the hope of making some quick cash off of those who enjoy this kind of thing.
Pod, I was not saying you specifically. The 'you' was meant to be 'anyone'. It's amazing how careful you have to be to post comments and craft them so they do not offend anyone. Although I felt that you were adding to video's message of making a joke of Christ with your K-Mart bit, I was not trying to be preachy or judgmental. In my 31 years, I have learned to be open and respectful of other people's views and opinions, even though it is rarely reciprocated. My appologies for offending you.
And be aware that here in Glumbert land you must endeavor to be concise. It is a place of exactitude.
There are some religious extremists who do what they call "patrolling" of this site, and they exemplify the pinnacle of religious arrogance. So I probably just overreacted.
I dunno, that two girls one cup video was pretty bad pod. I'd say this is slightly better than that.
You know how they make passion of the christ products, that really pisses me off. Like passion of the christ birthday plates and party hats....that's just wrong. What a capitalist rip on Jesus. That in itself is sacreligious.
Surfer - Exactly. I saw so much hypocrisy in the movie and the people who attended it and PRAISED it, and at the same time decrying all the other movies, video games, books, etc, that have violence and gore as being bad for society.
And then as you say they found a willing and devoted market into which they can sell their products.
For those who praise the movie they can do so, but to avoid hypocrisy, you have to then praise all other forms of graphic violence and suffering.
Would there be the same outcry for censorship if it was Satan being depicted in the movie and video? I don't think so. For those who want a ban , they should examine their internal value system, as in my humble opinion it needs adjustment.
i was to busy posting "first" instead of paying attention 2 the video, i have watched it a few times and i cant see any point to it i am not a religious zealot but i do find this crap a little disturbing and upsetting. Can it be removed please. those 3 PUNKS need a whipping.
i am no wordsmith granted but did you mean worst or worse? ps what book are u referring to that u have read i didnt know that there was a "the passion of the Christ" book unless u are referring to the first testament which would not apply.
C'mon now. I may not care for the vid either, but it should spark some discussion. I can see the folks at Glumbert, "Damn, this is a hard group to please!"
Not only that, but I don't approve censorship (most cases). Since its up, keep it up.
You want discussion, here you go. I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but the video COULD make a point. We ALL are the ones who did this to Jesus. So in a way, we are all holding the Wii Remotes. The problem is, rather than make the analogy seriously, the video is making a mockery of everything Jesus did for us. Or to be PC, His followers/believers. What this video shows is that it is fun to sin and in human nature to try and profit from it.
I think the video is kind of a rip of capitalism. Like my statement from above about how they have created virtually every product as "Passion of the Christ". Passion of the Christ coloring book, Passion of the Christ necklace, Passion of the Christ everything..before you know it it'll be a Passion of the Christ Vintage Typewriter or Passion of the Christ "love cuffs"....it's just WRONG!!! AHH.
Afraid I really can't see why this should be censored, to me it's simply making a point (whether intentionally or not it doesn't really matter) about putting consumerism into Christ, as well as showing how vid games can desensitize.
It's a little hypocritical to idealise freedom of speech and then demand this be removed.
Oh, and they got the timing wrong from a marketing perspective - shoulda released this at Easter time for maximum relevance.
Suggest "Wii Birth of Christ Part II" for a Christmas holiday release; where you have to lay back in your gaming chair with your legs in stirrups and push for 8 hours
I knew someone would fly the "censorship" flag. If I recall properly, Glumbert reserved the right to deny videos/postings that, in their opinion, were "inappropriate". People don't have an absolute right to say/print/publish, or otherwise air publicly, anything they want, anytime they want, anywhere they want. Postings can be subject to judgement, especially where posters are notified beforehand that they are.
The gagglingly repulsive "2g1c" was not aired on Glumbert. Could be no one attempted to air it....could be it was not permitted.
For different reasons, the offending video above might reasonably be denied Glumbert space. Many find it "inappropriate". It has pirated deeply religious and emotional scenes from the original film, and used them to debase the beliefs of many.
Just my opinion.
BTW, Podster...you might want to revisit the word "condensention"...no offense...just a word from a recovering English major who often misspells, to my eternal embarrassment (sometimes it's just poor keyboarding...this laptop's flat, concentrated layout is a real challenge to my clumsy fingers).
Ok I see it now it should be condescension. Wow I mangled that twice. I really do need glasses, or a larger font. I'm sitting 2 ft away from the screen now! LOL
Geee, now here is a bunch of people who seem to have a problem with satire.
All these guys did with their video was making fun of the (lets call them) themepark christians. Have you ever taken a look at the stupid stuff some people do, starting with the "Jesus something" bumper stickers?
There even are religious theme parks, just recently read an article about one in Brazil. I could find no English website for that park, but the pictures are quite some fun: www.tierrasanta-bsas.com.ar
Satire might be like "beauty"...defined by the viewer. Lots don't think this is satire...shock value cheap debasement, maybe, but not satire. Again, just my opinion.
Very clever humour. Brought a smile to my face. Yes thebug I agree with you, people clearly have issues with satire and doubt the majority of folk commenting above have their sunday mornings spent in church. I think people get as much out of moaning about standards and tolorance and acceptabilty (holier than thou) as they did watching the gladiators pick on hungry vagrants... *disclaimer* I don't for one minute consider crucifiction a laughing matter, unless it upsets the weak.
Charlie..."clever"?...... NOT. It just opportunistically uses the professional images from an extraordinary religious movie to play sophmoric games of disrespect...shock issue worthy only of adolescent attention...of which there appears to be a growing constituancy on Glumbert.
Smile if it moves you to do so. It has become popular to critique those who belong to some organized faith group...as if the critic's own views deserve greater value.
"Shallow" is the kindest term I can post re: your opinion.
If everyone conformed to your humour chaz, the world would be a sad place to live.
Anyway, surely if you believe this is against god, then you would know these guys will go to hell right. Why not worry about yourself rather who casts the first stone, nail or downward arm movement. I personally find your bashing of the people who make these video's and comments about them more distastefuI than the video itself. I have just as much right to question if your responses to this video are worthy of hell. I think they are. Into the flames with thee chaz... bet we all meet up in the same place anyway ;)
I don't agree with you. I have a great sense of humor. And, by the way, I am not "bashing" anyone. This video rots, period. Totally without humor, originality, any level of intelligence or thought...one is moved to believe it simply capitalizes on someone else's work....and does a mean and poor job of it while so doing.
That's my opinion...and as noted in this thread, one I am entitled to...and one I express without profanity, glibness, or base defilement of your, or anyone else's, belief.
Hunh? Not satire at all. Gratuitous insult, maybe, but hardly the thoughtful level of satire.
And you can keep your head.
And even you can be called "Jesus" here without being threatened with death...and no one would notice (i.e., the "Jesus" part, the "death" part probably would attract attention).
Buy everything that has "Passion of the Christ" stamped on it as they try to justify capitalism as a method to spread Christianity! Let's buy buy buy, and buy! Consumers unite! All in the name of our Lord! BLAH! I want a passion of the Christ nail, or even a passion of the Christ cell phone cover! What great Christmas gifts! Let's put the Christ back in Christmas, even if it is in a beligerent way!
And 5 weeks later, I was served with papers to appear in front of the highest court Known to man... Yes you guessed it, Peoples court!
It seems a certain Jesus took my personal relationship for Sexual Harassment! And unbeknownst to me Satan let Johnny cochran out to represent Jesus in this case! I don't know? Satan owed Jesus something or Whatever! Bottom line, I'm fucked! There's already a restraining order keeping me 500 eternities distance from the Son of Man! Pfttt! Go figure.
I almost agree with chaz. this video is horrendous. However, we live in a world of 'free speech'. I full whole heartedly agree with USARANGER. We are only there because the CIC has told us to.
I'm wearing a yellow ribbon to support the people who are forced to go there. I do not support the reason's why they are there.
And 5 weeks later, I was served with papers to appear in front of the highest court Known to man... Yes you guessed it, Peoples court!

Blame the Canadians. What the hell, other than round thick slices of bacon, most of our oil, and most of our automobiles, they really aren't responsible for much.
Birthing humanity is not beyond their dreams, so when we go to Brazil for oil ten years from now, they will still have a deeply rooted claim on something important.
OK...just finished the third wine...only kidding, vous autres canadiens(guess that's for les Quebecoises)...hosers(for the others). Never been to Toronto, but would like to get there one day. I'm told it's quite cosmopolitan, akin to Paris in a way. Been to Paris a few times...always come home feeling wonder at that artful and history laden city. Wonder how Toronto can measure up to that profile.
Reading all of the comments, I have to make a very simple observation - if this video was a war video shooting Vietnamese or Arabs with Wii (whatever the hell that is?!?) there would only be commentary on the quality of the video and gaming prowess.
Second - I find it funny that the people who vehemtly defend their country and army that have liberated (or invaded) Iraq are the same ones that are opposed to this video and want removed from the site. They find this unacceptably offensive and an affront to what they believe. Well ........ fuck you and the horse you rode in on!! You cannot have your cake and eat it too. The last guy to try that was Hitler - so pratice what you believe bitches and eat the consequence.
BTW - I thought it was a little over the top being a Christian. But what the hell, it didn't even look like like Jesus.
here i am on my "high horse" and before i forget FUCK YOU. 1) if it was about Buddha or Mohammed i wouldnt blame others for getting upset about this shite.2) I never supported the war for oil i mean war on terror and i dont feel that it is affront 2 what i believe in and hitler wasnt and wont be the last to try and stop free speech. on a personal note i dont go 2 church that often i believe in evolution i hate the commercialism of some churches (send money now i can feel someone in pain let me free you of that just send $29.99 for this cd ie benny Hinn) Its just the fact that this isnt funny or satirical those jackass wanna bees thought it would be cool to mock something in a very distasteful manner! Thats it i find it offensive and i am entitled to say so and if you really new me you wouldnt be calling me a bitch, bitch besides that i agree with most of what you said jimmyusa have a nice day.
grp24 / skidmarks / freetobe1962 / nefariousprior / chaz / ladyblake - you are the epitmomy of Americana - If you don't agree with it , please remove it. How fucking eloquent. You only believe in Jesus and white picket fences.
jimmy, got to reply, but really, it's gettin a little too steamy for me. The reason I would agree to it's removal is because the damn thing is just so tasteless. I'm not particularly religious, I don't claim to know anything about it. But there is still a small part of me that finds this video over the top, damn offensive. I feel some measure of respect for such a revered figure in our history.
And yes, we do vehemently defend our country and those who serve it. That is our right, as it is for any other country. But that does not mean that most of us, in any way, had any say in the matter of war, or had any influence upon it. The general population of the USA had nothing to do with it, did not have a hand in starting it, nor can we do a single thing to end it. We are living with it, the same as the rest of the world.
Nothing wrong with a little healthy discussion, and the expected differing of opinions. But no need to spew any more nastiness than we already had to see by watching the vid. It was hurtful, to a lot of people, even those who aren't true believers in Christianity. Other vids we've seen have been gross, stupid, vapid, inane, a waste of time. But this one seemed to me a shockingly unnessary display of crudeness. Maybe I'm a little too sensitive.
ftb - This is one of the most concise and intelligent statements I have read in many months. Not to diminish the other parts but it is so Good it needs repeating:
"And yes, we do vehemently defend our country and those who serve it. That is our right, as it is for any other country. But that does not mean that most of us, in any way, had any say in the matter of war, or had any influence upon it. The general population of the USA had nothing to do with it, did not have a hand in starting it, nor can we do a single thing to end it. We are living with it, the same as the rest of the world."
pod, thank you. Every single thing I write comes from the heart, and from the gut. I'm not always good, I'm not always a wonder of words. But it is what I feel. And it is a great feeling when someone, even one person, connects with that, and understands what I'm trying to say.
god bless america, ftb- that is the best thing an american can say, this is what the framers had hoped for, hmmm... ftb is that a shortened form of baycb? gotcha!
for some reason, i cant give any more 1 to this vid :(
Jimmyusa let me talk you through the assumptions; firstly i'm not american , secondly i'm not religious, i just think this video is tastless, BUT i am buying a white picket fence to seat outside the front of my house because i love little house on the prairy.
vergoox, I don't know what baycb is, but if that means you think I shortened words I had heard before, it isn't true. It just came spilling out that way.
jimmy...just catching up with your comments a while back. Don't think you caught the sense of my response...which was that the video capitalizes on the work of another's efforts in order to produce a shallow shock-value video with few or no redeeming values...in other words, they have added nothing but demeaning content to artful work of others, elsewise seen as deeply emotional.
]Now, if that is over your head, read this: IT IS A FUMBLING AND INEPT EXAMPLE OF PLAIGERISTIC GRAPHICS.
And, many find it offensive, just by the way. AND, don't call it satire...that would have required original thought, and some sense of humor...neither of which can be said are in evidence in this doltish debacle.
There are many many people That don't believe in God Let alone The story of Jesus Christ! I'm not one of them! (I have my own beliefs in this matter).
for me, Its not offensive! some look at this as if someone is actually being hurt. Its not a snuff film!
Perhaps there is a message there I might find. You deny me my spiritual growth!?? If I am for freedom of expression then I am for All freedom of expression! When this doesn't involve physically hurting of a unwilling human being in the process.(your moral sensitivity excluded)
Hey Glumbert, Please take this off, but could you bring me more of 2 girls and a tea cup? I mean, what's up with that?
Atheist have blamed religion for crimes against humanity for years. They have a point. Awhile Back I witnessed mass hysteria because someone drew a bomb wrapped around the head of Muhammad cartoon caricature ! Lots of people were hurt in the aftermath of that Stupidity. Lets rise above that please. If we can?
If you're a believer in the(TRUE)meaning of Christianity then believe this, Jesus LOVES all the people who were involved in making this video as much as anyone of you who would have it removed!(except Douche He's coming to kick your ass).
Just because Jesus has a restraining order on me doesn't mean I don't hit my knees first thing in the morning and before bed at night to say Please and then Thanks!
Consider This: "Three things make a great karate fighter: Basics, basics and basics." Ginshin Funikoshi, Founder, Shotokan Karate
In martial arts, everyone practices "kata." Some styles call them "forms" but they're all similar. A kata is a series of techniques strung together in a logical pattern that makes the martial artist simulate fighting multiple attackers all at once. It's fancy shadow boxing. Kata can be pretty intense. Done properly, they are great exercise. Some are very short and some are very long, taking several minutes to complete. The newer kata used in modern forms competition are flashy, very acrobatic, and don't really have much practical use but they're athletic and fun to watch. I prefer the traditional kata because they can be effectively applied to any real-life situation. They work and work well - with no flash or fancy acrobatics. The major benefit of kata is they train the martial artist in what to look for in any given situation and to know what to do when they encounter those situations. There are lots of kata and many of them focus on specific situations but in most styles, there are five katas that train the use of every basic technique a martial artist can use in a wide variety of situations. The principle is the same in learning most anything: math, science, engineering, sports... you name it. Train in whatever discipline it is so you know what to do when similar situations come up in real life and you'll do well. Okay, so what? So why don't most of us study the Bible that way? I mean, we are Christians and claim the Bible as God's word and the best source we have for getting to know and understand God and His will for our lives. Yet, so many people don't spend more than 10 minutes a week reading any of it. What's up with that? How much better would our lives be if we actually invested some time every day to read and study the Bible...you know...so we could actually know what it is we claim to believe and how to apply it to our lives? What a concept! I know this is radical - but if we did that we could live the kind of life we've only dreamt about. The kind of life God has for us. The kind of life we say we want to live. Mind boggling, huh? Or, we can keep doing whatever we're doing that keeps us so "busy" we just don't have time to get to know God better. When the "Sin Ninja" attacks and we get our butts kicked, we can go crying to God and tell Him we were "too busy" to study His word and didn't know what to do when the attack came. No doubt, like any great coach, He'll just ooze sympathy and patience for our excuses......sure He will.....
Well sandman, we have choices, "forks in the road" in our paths of life. You talk of "shotokan" (my personal choice) and the "kata's" which start out simple enough and progress into the very complicated. Mirroring the progression of one's life. I could have chosen Judo, boxing, taekwondo, or even ballet, but I have the freedom of choice, freedom of mind, to believe in what I deem "logical" and the "book" is VERY far from logical!
The "book" is a misinterpretation of past writings that predate Christ and Christianity by many millennia, that is FACT! You can bury your head all you want and ignore the "facts" that modern man has uncovered, that's what you're free to do.
What I'm free to do, is say I don't believe in that "book" or any religion that is practiced today. I was never "brainwashed" into religion in my tender years, so my mind is clear of that, I instead, chose the higher ground of education in science, to ask why and get closer to the real answer!
My personal belief, which you will find preposterous, is that we are "made in his image" only my maker is from "out there" not heaven but another galaxy, time, solar system, planet. God is the universe, both, by description are eternal, and infinite, always been here, never leaving.
Have you ever wondered why the words " Let US make man in OUR image, according to OUR likeness, and let them have in subjection the fish of the sea..." Genesis 1:26 and "God proceeded to create man in his image, in 'Gods' image he created him; MALE AND FEMALE he created them."
Genesis 1:27
Notice the US and OUR , and the OUR likeness, is plural not singular?
This means our creators are human as well! And there was more than one!
So who created them? When you ask a priest or any religious person, who created god, they will say that he has no beginning and will have no end, he is infinite.
This is one of the misinterpretation's of the bible that I speak of. The bible isn't referring to god as infinite, but the universe. It is the universe that is infinite!
So what does this have to do with our creator? It means they were created too by other beings and their creators were also created and so on and so on, to infinity.
This is also the same for us. We will one day create life, and create another race like us. It is like a generation that never ends and had no start.
So, I ask all, what seems more likely; a giant magical being that created everything, or other human beings that came here and created us using science!
Or.....maybe there is a god and he knew what I was to write today, that's why he "punished" me yesterday with that big ole nail in a board I kicked, leaving me unable to put my foot in a boot so I can't work today?
Miter - Sorry to hear about your foot. I stepped on a nail a few weeks ago in a filthy wet crumbling barn, but fortunately it only went into the sole of my boot, and I was so relieved.
As to your explanation of the infinite I have to agree that many who have been blinded by religion and so are cast into a lifetime of shunning all other forms of learning are in a self imposed hell.
Most human beings of every generation have always believed themselves to be absolutely correct in their faith based views, and even their technology, but alas time will discard most of those beliefs in favor of a new paradigm in less than a century, and that new generation will repeat the same errors in judgment.
i agree with you mitre, " At that time the Nephilim appeared on earth (as well as later), after the sons of heaven had intercourse with the daughters of man, who bore them sons. They were the heroes of old, the men of renown." Gen. 6:4,
much more likely, the alien hybrids, rather than the god who must not be named (hahaahah)
51,31,41,??!! Come on. freedom of speech. English Prof. What does the word speech mean? I didn't think you knew. You folks need to remember what this Country was founded on and then look at what we have let it become. ya I'm a theme park Christian, Bible Thumper, Jesus Freak, what ever you want to call me, I don't care. But I have more respect for Muslims then I do of most of you. Why? they don't mock their God. They even respect Christians and know more about the Christian religion then most of Americans. Oh, now you're going to say "what about kill the infadels". Read people. Research, I lived and worked in the Middle east. Do you think they would allow their people to post this kind of smuck on the internet? Not a chance they have more respect for their God and their people to do this. # Jeremiah 31:34 No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." Jeremiah 31:33-35 (in Context) Jeremiah 31 (Whole Chapter)
Hate to burst your bubble Sandman, but America was NOT founded on Christianity or any other religion. That was integrated in the past century. Of your founding fathers, few were religious at all. They were AGAINST the integration of church and state. Look into this in earnest and you will see that this is the truth. Religion has an amazing way of putting the blinders on.
Let's see now: muslim extremists feel it's okay to gang rape a woman, and then give the WOMAN 100 lashes!!! They feel it's okay to smack planes into buildings, because 72 black-eyed virgins will be waiting for them in "heaven"; they also believe it's okay to kill, beat or otherwise abuse their wives (and women in general) because they are "inferior", and especially when it comes to wearing their burkhas.
And you have "more respect for them"? Riiiiiiiiight.
Now...let's look at your christian extremist nutjobs, shall we?: lemme see......bombs being thrown at abortion clinics by something called "The Army Of God"; Rev. Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist fuckheads; The Crusades; 300 (maybe more) innocent women slaughtered by being burned at the stake in Salem, Mass. by "GAWD-feariin' christians; and on and on.......
So, as you can see, Mr. Sandman, it does NOT surprise me in the slightest that you clain to admire these muslim extremists more than anyone around here; it does not surprise me ONE BIT. Know why?:
Because it takes a fucking insipid zealot to know/appreciate other insipid fucking zealots.
Folks like YOU and THEM are just two sides of the same coin, is all.
I personally find it hard to comprehend how many millions of people, worldwide, for centuries, have died for their God and belief in that God. Have killed for their God and their belief in that God. Is that what ANY of the Gods, should they exist or had ever existed, would have wanted? Please. That part of it is purely HUMAN in nature. And any writings that are produced with such teachings are purely man made, from man's inherent selfish nature, to want their own ideas and beliefs to override anyone who disagrees. That, my dear fellow philosophers and scholars, is the bottom line.
The interesting thing about religion is that it defines itself from within itself. If you rely on such a system you can not be proven wrong within your system since the system postulates that it is correct.
Do the same thing in mathematics and you repeat the test...
Miter, I am very proud of you. You found something in my Bible that I can't explain, because of ignorance? Maybe, lack of study? maybe. But look at Genesis 1:27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. It doesn't say and the Gods that man created made man in their own image! You have the right as well as I do to believe in what ever you want.
No, that part was "in his image", yet man and women have well, different "configurations" therefore "they" by default must be talking about more that one "image".
Have you guys checked which translation of the bible you refer to?
Keep in mind that most of the original text was in Hebrew, then got translated to ancient Greek, later to Latin. Also there are a lot of text passages that have been removed or added over the centuries. All in all the bible is quite some patchwork.
podman you say"As to your explanation of the infinite I have to agree that many who have been blinded by religion and so are cast into a lifetime of shunning all other forms of learning are in a self imposed hell." You speak so confident that you put yourself right into what you say. Why? Because you don't know what other religions anyone has personally studied. For you to say,"many who have been blinded by religion and so are cast into a lifetime of shunning all other forms of learning are in a self imposed hell" is not a very fair statement. That is the opinion that you have created in your mind. That may not be the reality of all or many. we all have many different backgrounds, lifestyles and religions. We are lucky or most of us are, to believe what we want to believe. My religion is right for my life. Your religion or the decision to have no religion if that is what you choose is your right. It is your path you have chosen. i don't condem you. That is not what I am about.
sandman - You missed my point entirely. You say I speak with certainty. This is a total misreading of my statement. In the sciences NOTHING is certain. This may sound confusing to the uninformed, but it is the relationships that approach certainty, but not the ideas themselves. Science is another belief system that seeks to bind by repeated empirical evidence the ideas that link one event to another. Science freely admits that there is a infinite ignorance in the underlying structure of science, because we are trained to recognize our own ignorance, and the limitations of technology and mathematics to derive the answers we seek.
IMHO - Religion is a type of learning, that for many means the exclusion of all other forms. No other form of learning has a exclusionary rule for other forms. In many religions the aspiration of true faith in things that are not supported by reality. This belief (although freely held) does not just harm the holder, but it harms the non-believers as well. It becomes a sociological anchor holding humanity back from what I feel IMHO is a greater enlightenment. I can believe in a God, Science, and Abara if I wanted to, because I have no restrictions. Although there are many good things that come from a belief in the intangible, the opposite is also true.
I as an engineer work in the world of a reality outside of faith. Good wishes and prayers may make a suspension bridge appear without the influence of Mans hand, but until this happens we still have to go to work each day. I cannot live or function in my world without working in the world of reality. The proper bolt WILL hold that cable because it is engineered that way, not because of good thoughts imparted to a divine being. You and most of humanity are alive and healthy in the past, present, and future because of engineering, and the other "evil" sciences that the faithful deny on a daily basis.
For the holders of science is evil crowd, the 'truly faithful', and 'pure believers' in the world should all live as the Jane sect of India, all others are living in a nebulous hypocrisy. If you are truly faithful don't ask SCIENCE for help, just pray, and if God wants you or your loved ones to die, or be saved, don't drive to the hospital, or take those medications.
It is this grinding conflict between faith and observable reality that is one of the flash points of human suffering. Many religious leaders are aware of this lever and use it for personal, and political gain throughout the world. If human suffering, and political upheaval are to be ameliorated for future generations, then the faithful must be made aware that this conflict has never existed in reality, but is just a tool of manipulation imposed on the ignorant.
I have said it many times before science has NOTHING to do with religion, and vice versa. Can the religious mind willingly cease from being manipulated by their leaders into the false war against science?
If not then the future will be the same as the past.
It will be one of war, pestilence, plague, and the proverbial hell brought to reality.
I just believe that every human being on this planet no matter what they believe in should have respect for one another. Even if that is a pipe dream and I think we can agree that it is, it would make this planet we live on and die on a little more bearable.
Either you're a raving religious zealot.......or you're a non-judemental , altruistic human being, who's not blinded by religious hatred or intolerance.
Watched it already sandman, really makes you think! If you want to see a video, from which I "stole" the "material" above, that has a slightly different "take" on these issue's....
Miter, i almost forgot. Did you not mean to say that the "gods" made you step on that nail? Just curious. Or could it have just been in your own mind and you didn't step on a nail at all......or..So what does this have to do with our creator? It means they were created too by other beings and their creators were also created and so on and so on, to infinity. Maybe it was the thoughts of other beings and other creators that made you think you stepped on a nail. Well if you indeed step on a nail and missed work today maybe that was a sign from all the other beings and cceators way of keeping something bad from happening to you if you were to not have stepped on that nail. Hmm. I will pray to my God and Thank Him for keeping you safe today. Warm Wishes (sandman, in the world, not of the world)
Since my foot doesn't fit in my boot, due to swelling, and that big red hole looking back at me is definite proof of the nails existence, I believe! I will shortly get a second opinion though....the doctor, then I'll know beyond a reasonable doubt. I suppose it could have been the rusty nail god's wrath, and he/they saved me from some other fate, (like getting my job done on time so I can get paid before Christmas) lol. Peace to you and have a happy holiday, wait to you I can say with out offending..Merry Christmas!
Miter, It already said that God created man in his own image. then their was a symbol like this(;) and then he said,"male and female he created them". He tells you he created man in his own image, then he tells you he created women. Gosh atleast be thank full that women don't look like men!!LOL
I do encourage you to watch that clip I posted. It is very very informative and gives you a lot to think about whether you are a Christian or not. It deals with the Zodiac and how that plays a role in as you said millions of what people have been led to believe. It is a cool documentary. SM
If you can direct me to that clip sandman I'd enjoy watching it thanks, also along similar lines are Zeitgeist and What The Bleep Do We Know. Both excellent documentaries on differing subjects.
After scrolling up before hitting enter I see your link. Will watch it next time at the computer. Cheers...
Loved Zeitgeist, forwarded it on to everyone after I watched it a few months ago. people should check it out. Religious folk will not be swayed by facts though, they prefer to believe in what power hungry mortals tell them to. I believe it must be nice and warm in that ol box of theirs. As for What the bleep... well I don't think i view life the same after watching it, the last big headf*ck like that was my first trip at 15 a long time ago :D Always hungry for knowledge :) Peace...
Greetings of the pagan holiday season to you, my good Skid. I trust and hope your native land is twinkly and bright with festivities. Do you celebrate the nativity of an ancient Hebrew politician in your country?
Yes. But as blasphemy is an abstract concept formed by ruling elites to stifle free speech and thought, who cares?
I have a face like an arse by the way.
IMHO, there is no conflict between faith and fact. Basically, science relegates faith to the back room for its lack of proofs. On the other hand, science readily admits to ignorance regarding the beginnings of life.
Stalemate, on terms set by scientists, not faith groups. No conclusive proofs on either side.
"Infinity" is the answer some propose as to how things got started...that is, they've ALWAYS been started...infinitely in the past, and potentially infinitely into the future. The human mind cannot wrap itself around factual "infinity"...and even conceptual "infinity" is beyond the grasp of human minds to understand. But that is the wonderfully abstract position of "scientists".
Religious folk have a belief that there is an "uncaused cause". That's just another solution to the inconceivable concept of "infinity".
How can scientists, who have no answers for the beginnings of things save for an infinite past, criticize religious people for their belief in an infinite cause?
Hey...did I oversimplify?
I like the "God" view. I just do....my brain can't absorb infinity as an explanation for anything but an infinite being/cause...and even then only marginally. Face it...you can't absorb the notion of "infinity" either, except in the most abstract (i.e., unreal) way...hardly a scientific basis for argument.
BTW , Merry Christmas to all. I still believe in Santa Claus, but he seems always to send his bills to my house...probably some f 'n elfin foulup.
You are wrong on a number of points. Science does not lack explanations for the beginning of life, it is just that religious people don't like them.
Also infinity does not play as big a role as you think in the beginning of life, it is just vast scales of time and space. Though for many people that may not be much different from infinite.
The problem is that the "explanations" of religion need only be believed (they don't stand any detailed scrutiny in any case), whereas scientific concepts need to be understood. That of course takes a lot more work and intelligence.
Happy winter solstice to everyone (some may remember that that was the original holiday that was taken over by the christians for the birthday of their messiah)
Miter, here is your answer for the our and them, God is 3 persons in one. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. That's one of the foundations of the Christian faith and is articulated in the Apostal's Creed, Nicean Creed, and Athinasian Creed. peace SM
Saw the video, and just finished reading all of the comments.
Soooooooooooooooo.................here's my own 2-cents on this one:
I believe that all forms of expression in ANY form should AT LEAST have a point. Maybe it's because of my age, or simply a case of "mellowing out", I dunno........BUT.....I'm actually hard-pressed to decipher the point of THIS video/expression.
Like....WTF?
Look, a lot of you know my views on religion and the zealots who blindly follow it, but at the same time, I'm sure as hell not gonna go to the extreme of creating the images I saw here.
I'm all for the concept of freedom of expression/speech. Honestly, I am. But for fuck sakes, just because we CAN say or do something.....does it mean we SHOULD? And to what end?
Do I think this video needs to be "censured" or take off? Well, in relation to all the myriad of shit that's on the Internet that people can see, I guess it's not the worst offence I've seen. It's pointless and in poor taste, absolutely. But does it warrant censorship? It's easy to easy "yes" (and trust me, I am SORELY tempted to do so), but then again, it's always the first "yes" to eliminate something that's the easiest; after that, it CAN and WILL become habit-forming and a pattern; down the road, someone, somewhere will be making that decision for us, deciding what's okay and what's not.
I just kinda hope the day will come, when people use the concept of "free expression" and "freedom of speech" sensibility.
The bitch, of course, is trying to decide where to draw that "sensible" boundary.
Clearly, the makers of this video do not know/appreciate/or otherwise care about that boundary.
Canuck - the classic (screaming "fire" in a theatre) limit of what is rapidly becoming the most abused right of free speech is being stretched and distorted and thinned by the incursion of so-called civil rights groups. Like taking a position against milk and motherhood, taking a position against these self-appointed "guardians" of civil rights is suicidal, politically speaking.
In fact, some things should not be publicly aired...to keep younger people from their gross impact, to allow parents to "mature" thier children according to their own agendas, to state a message to a local community that it/they are NOT condoning the activity portrayed...and for all sorts of other reasons. The right to free speech, IMHO, does not empower me to insult you, degrade you, midirect your children, or endorse uncivil or unbecoming behavior...you ought to need to go somewhere special for that.
OK...I have posted several times in this thread...some in the wrong place...and now I am tiring of speaking counter to the "anything goes" crowd"...as if they might listen anyway.
If you haven't gotten my best wishes for the Christmas season already, well, here they are again.....all the best to all of youse Glumertarians.
Prohibiting religious "education" of children until maybe the age of 14 or so, when they are old enough to detect bullshit as such, would solve a lot of problems in the world...
What the hell is "fic do?" For one, its fick dich. Let alone the rest of it is not correct. Quit trying to swear in another language if you can't even do it right.
Zis has of course been ein very busy time of year, vot vith ze armadilloes being prepared for market, und Conchita has left me for Pedro, so I am, how do you say, single-legged at ze ranch.
I see nozzink much changes at Glumbert since mein inglorious departure. Ze "vorld vos created in 1905" division still locks horns vith ze sane people, und Herr Canuck continues his von man Blitzkreig on ze Fuhrer Bush und his fiendish cohorts.
But zere are von or two new faces, some of who are kvite amusing. Ze lovely lady called freetobe interests me greatly. I vould be happy to meet vith her und perhaps even offer her ein position as mein housekeeper und tango partner. (Ze nights are kvite lonely on ze ranch vith only ze beasts for company - armadilloes haf ein limited vocabulary und tend not to read shtimulating books.)
Vonce again - festive greetings to von and all!
Guten Abend. I haf been, as you kvite rightly say, ein "goddamn stranger" - in fact, mein darlink mutter often said zere vos novone stranger zan me! Just mein little joke.
Are you on friendly terms vith ze fraulein Freetobe? She seems very nice und vould obviously not be afraid of hard vork. I vonder if she is, as ze Englisher schweinhunds say, "spoken for"?
Perhaps you could put in ein good vord for me? Ze veather is varm in Argentina at zis time of year - no geshitten shnow such as as you no doubt haf in ze land of ze Maple und ze Mountie!
I haf had enough of vimmen like Conchita - shpitfires und shtrumpets! I vont ein "apple pie und custard" type for mein dotage, und Miss Freetobe appears to fall into zis category.
Ein happy Christmas to you und yours in ze frozen North vith ze Call of ze Vild und blizzards!!
Mein Herr! I welcome your triumphant return from exile and ignominy; I'm warming the schnapps snifters as I write, although, sadly, I write with a heavy heart. As much as I detest the role of "Bearer of Bad Tidings," I feel it incumbent upon me to tell you: Fraulein Freetobe ist nicht eine fraulein. He/She is, in reality, a retired police chief currently residing in a rest home somewhere in the American Midwest. Unfortunately for us all, "her" tone of sincerity is a cruel and cynical pose, designed to extract cash money from lonely Glumbertians. I know, because my rather substantial wire transfer to an offshore account, paid in anticipation of a face to face encounter with this lovely "blonde" poster, has gone unheeded. I confess this in hopes of sparing you a similar plunge into disillusionment and despair. Greetings of the season be with you.
adolf, I am highly flattered, and quite amazed, to have attracted the attention of our most sorely missed poster! Look forward to talking with you. Sorry to hear about Conchita, but that just leaves room for other opportunities, huh?
stutz, you must be mistaking me for some other blonde. I don't have an offshore account.
Zis cannot be true! I know zere is no fool like ein old fool, but I sink I trust zis fraulein Freetobe. I vill - how do you say - take mein chances. I haf vorked out ein cunning strategy to voo her.
Do I detect ein note von "sour pineapples"? Could it not be zat she simply found you repulsive und shpurned your advances?
As ve say in Schleswig Holstein, "Ze English are scheise vooers"!
Yes. Your theory as to the root cause of my rejection rings true. A series of failed liver transplants has rendered me but a pale ghost of my God-given virile self. And I'm sure, now, that the grainy nude photograph I submitted to "her" did not advance my lovelorn cause. My service in the Great War and it's sequel gave me some firsthand knowledge of your countrymen's Visigoth methods of seduction. And regardless of the gender of your intended conquest, I wish you only the best.
I too served in ze "Var to end all vars". Of course, it vos no such sing, but zat is einozzer story! Perhaps I had you in mein shniper's sights at von time? If so, I am glad I vos ein scheise shot! It is, as zey say, ein small vorld.
Were you at the Somme, perchance on the Siegfried Stellung? I have a vague memory of a wounded corporal with a toothbrush mustache. Was that you? I served proudly on the staff of General Haig, as his aide-de-camp in charge of Futile Gestures. I never ventured outside the isolated command post, so my appearance in your crosshairs seems doubtful. Cheers!
I downed four large port and brandies sunday night and ended up in a cafe, i proceeded to chat up the waitress, i didn't know the cook was her husband, i then puked all night, do you think it was the food coated in old fat from behind the stove or the ports?
Mister Flagg: "Apple Strudel"? I care naught for German foodstuffs. Or is this some kind of slang referring to a vile sex act?
But I do quite enjoy the literary musings of Mister Bukowski and his droll recountings of ribald romps with undesirable women.
And to set the record straight: after being cleared of all rape charges, I was released from the stockade at the rank of Sgt. Major. I am not to be confused with a parodic character from a sixties situation comedy starring an unfortunate voyeur.
Sand! What's wrong my little turnip, did I strike a cord ?
Why is it you think I spelled christen wrong? Will Christen, Christen Stubbe ,Christen Glover!
Stop being such a spoiled christen! Are all your christen friends Like you? You know...so christen like:)
Well cheese, I guess I'll catch up to you in the funny papers. Happy christen, christen-mass! Sleep tight, Don't let the christen bugs bite. Don't take any christen nickels. Mind your Ps and christen.
And if I throw anything out my window it will be that insufferable sister of yours! If Douche and a few others would be kind enough (christen you might say) to come over and lift her!...put on a bit of weight she did! :)) Cheers.
I love Mr. Sgt. major Stutz! He has a certain pizzazz! A sort of snappiness! a bit of old school!
I would give him a set of dueling pistols, then turn him loose! I'm certain he would then become the most infamous pistolero ever to walk Glumberts cyber dusty streets.:)
I'll check up on the above postings tomorrow night, I gotta go to bed now. I thought I would leave you with an idea I had for a video game....now please there is no evil intent.....how about......exorcistwii.....no....really. Think about it, you could change the color of the puke, spin her head really fast, try to stop the bed from rising.....I dunno, watcha think? :-) The Thingwii, Freddy Kruegerwii, Jason III wii, Halloweenwii (say that out loud, now that's funny). OMS, I gotta say it again, Halloweenwii......ha, ha, ha.....ribs hurtin'.....Halloweenwii.......Halloweenwii.......goodnight.
Guys, please! The point of this video clearly was to show off how incredibly dynamic and advanced the accelerometers and infared detection are for the Wii! I mean, can you really imagine playing Passion for the XBOX360? "Press X to whip!" Pretty boring, huh? Definitely better off as a multiplayer Wii game.
But how would you really lose the game?
People have argued that there's been no point to this video and that's why it should be taken down...However, there's been plenty of pointless videos on Glumbert and no one has gotten upset about any of it until now. If this was posted on Sunday morning I wonder how long it would have taken for naysayers to shoot this down. If nobody commenting ever watched this particular movie originally, or perhaps even if this movie never existed, would people be commenting the same? Would it then be "creative" or be "pointful"? There was no enormous influx or "TAKE THIS GARBAGE DOWN" threats regarding a somewhat opposite take of things like this, such as http://www.glumbert.com/media/chucknorris ... Why? Hell, that one's actually the real deal. The video here is just a bunch of kids being silly. I'm sure at least one measly person enjoyed this video to some extent. I cannot talk shit about any of you bitching or spewing your preachy smegma fluids all over the comment board, because that too exercises free speech. I can however advise those who don't like it to simply not watch it. Hell, you can easily reserve your energy of typing how much you don't like it by just rating it one star.
