Seriously. To make it even worse, they stuck those stock laughing clips in to make it seem as if lots of Norwegians thought It was funny. Good God, I hope Norway doesn't fail that much.
another good example of how america deals with people ... i agree the womans questions were stupid, but this idiots over reaction is over the top !!! wake up america ... your rudeness is what makes the world hate your country !
I'd vote for him. He called them out!! It's so funny b/c he's obviously from New York and Newyorkers don't take sh*t from anyone. Good for him. Once he realized that this was a bullsh*t interview, he quickly turned the tables and those stupid Finns or Swedes..no difference really, didn't know what the hell to do or how to respond.
Go New York!!! Kill all those terrorists!!! Gore 2008!!!!
she ambushed him............he responded poorly....but she DID ambush him...
no credit to her......and wish he'd had the presence of mind to retire gracefully, rather than giving public view to his understandable upset.
Man......I am so happy not being a public figure.....they are joans-of-ark on a daily basis. The media is heartless, and careless......and ruthless, and relentless. This video is an example of how human situations can be spun into disproportionate impacts. Damnable. Might's well read the paper that often speaks to alien births, and re-emrgence of saskwatch, the tooth fairy, and Paul Bunyan.
Throb.........an ambush is an ambush. The victim is deprived of reasonable time for response. Do not think for a moment I have a care for one or the other...he just got blind-sided, and reacted badly.
OK....now await your requested repsonse from, apparently, your alterbrain.
"He responded poorly"?!? He threatened these people! A public figure. I would have been mildly surprised if he was just some guy on the street or in a bar who acted this way, but some kind of policitican? What a fucking hothead loser. On balance, she asked a couple of not really that funny questions, and he freaked. Anyone with such a terrible balance between their sense of humour and their sense of personal self-worth has no business leading anyone. Unless his name is TechnoViking.
Hey, you decide to go into public office and you need to be quick on your feet, regardless of the situation, especially with a camera in your face. At the very least, he showed extremely poor judgement, regardless of the provocation. Now I'm interested in hearing how canuck will construe my comment to be about him as he has some of my more recent video specific comments. Me thinks he misses the attention.
....damn............I posted a response, but it showed up above rather than here (or at least where "here" is where I want it to be). This is to Throb..................
..."I read somewhere that he was an african-american..." should equate to not being a citizen? She was uninformed, uneducated, uninterested in fact...and apparently expected the courtesy afforded to real media should be extended to her
No wonder he had no patience with this pretty bag of doodoo. Too bad he was on video....with his barroom vernacular in full swing. Can't blame him too much tho; god, if I had to deal with this s#*$, I'd likely do worse.
Bada bing.....I now it's not real but he took care a business.....new york style....trust me I mean that with respect. Back when I was in the Aviation Biz, I dealt with a few new yorkers....i give em this....they aint lackin in nerv....or self respect. My hats of to ya....us canadians could learn a thing or two from yas. And don't even start me on pumpin' up those egos from chicago. It's good to be strong.
seems that people have started to describe what they are doing before they post so here goes:
Leans back, scratches balls, drinks coffee, sucks on cigarette (no smoking building but fuck the fascists) smiles, looks around for keyboard...there it is....infact it was always there.... scratches ear , then investigates left nostril...empty , right one..yeh empty ok here we go...
em , what's this vid about ?
ok the guys a politican, so surely he should always stay calm and polite in whatever situations! i don't care really
His problem is that he is a politician, and as such they usually are little smarter than a garden vole. Now let's imagine this clearly provocative interviewer asking these same questions to Mario Cuomo. He would have torn her apart with polite intelligence, and she would have left with nothing but her own embarrassment at being a simple fool.
She's an ass, and he's an idiot, and thus we have entertainment.
Becaudz we amercans not be real gud at geofraphy! I be ubset wiff wat you say here.
But seriously America has a education problem, and we deserve a little condescension, but we are not ALL ignorant or "uncultured Americans". Is she considered high cultured or humorous for asking these questions in Europe?
I think you are correct in that we just don't get her kind of high culture.
People, people - living in the U.S. might make you not appreciate the fact, that she is asking the same, dumb, in-informed, stupid questions, that we over here in Europe are use to, when-ever we are met with the average american and his/her lack of basic geographic/historic knowledge (atleast the 1st, 2nd or 3rd time him/her is travelling outside the states...
So, it is very ironic, that the moronic type of questions, that people over here politely answer on a weekly basis (those who work in the turist industry), are handled so poorly, only affirming the "uncultured american"-stereotype further...

No, of cause you are not all ignorant - i'm writing about a stereotype, but it's based on a real tendency. And I'm not saying she is doing a good job of it either...
Go see Norwiegian band Clawfinger for that, fx. "Better than the Rest" and "Nothing going on" (on YouTube).
Techduck - Ok I understand your point now. But, you must be aware that those who travel to other countries are not usually the brightest bulbs in the package. That goes for all countries, going in all directions. You should the visitors we get over here!
Tech, you make a point, though you miss the point of this video.
Regarding issue 1: I got asked in the US if I came by train (my home country is Germany and that was known by the person who asked) and at another ocassion I got asked if we already did rebuild some stuff after the war (that was in 1988 and refered to WWII). So much for the stereotype, I have quite a few friends in the US and met lots of people there who would not even get anywhere close to the idea of asking such stupid stuff. But I did meet people in the far west of Germany in the early 1980s who did honestly ask if I did come from east or west Berlin...
On issue 2: Most other politicians would have tried to not offend their interviewer even if they mouthed totally bigot and racist stuff. He at least did not compromise his opinion on such matters. If he were a local politician here I would count it towards his score of getting my vote.
As much as that guy overreacted, watching Pia Haraldsen (the chick) trying to be funny makes me cringe. I'd be offended as well, but mainly because she's so ridiculously unfunny and only has a job because she's rich and famous (in Norway), which is mildly ironic.
But he continues to reference me billboat all be it not by name (kinda like I'm doin' here). Withdrawal I think. On my end, just got tired of chewinghim up and spitting him out. The taste got old.
seats here, dying for a piss and in a rush... work is over, head is spinning , it's friday !! off i go to the GYM, then party time (not really, just a take away and a high class hooker :) not really probably low class , not really probably stay in, not really ..will get a drink at some point
randal, you should read what is printed on the bottle before drinking it.
Ah, actually let me refine this: Read what is in the bottle before you decide wether to drink from it. "after shave" and "paint thinner" are not exactly highland malts...
what's this about a monkey, is it an american think to have a monkey and fuck it or something? what's going on , what's wrong with fucking you're own breed , it's all gone wrong
I don't know this guys name but I hope he has people just like him for more seats in American politics cause this country needs more like him!Thats throw you out of my office before I throw your fucking cameras out the fucking window!Thats' what this country needs a set of balls that just has had enough bullshit to finally change something.Get the fuck out of my office before I kick your ASS!!!I Fucken LOVE IT!!!
I don't have a lot to say about the video. It's hard to tell what is staged and what is not anymore. He seemed to be really ticked off, for what that's worth.
But what concerns me is a "rumor" about Obama being a "muslim". Does anyone have any thoughts on this? He was allegedly raised in an extreme muslim environment. Has anyone else heard this?
No, from what I can gather it was mainly silk, a fairly large amount of polyester in his teenage years, and then cashmere wool for his suits as he moved into politics..
His mother liked good old fashion egyptian muzlin though.
Oh...! You meant THAT kind!
Erm...yes I'd heard the rumour.
And I also saw it debunked.
I understand this particular smear originated from an Insight magazine report (offering no named sources) which Fox News jumped on in its characteristically accurate and insightful manner.
You know what? I actually have no personal concerns on any links he had to Islam as a child. I understand he didn't anyway.. .his family background was secular? It just happened that he spent a few years in Indonesia (his Stepdad worked for Shell didn’t he?) with two years in a local school and two years in a catholic school.
Now given that Indonesia is Islamic, that local school would have reflected that fact. CNN actually sent a reporter to verify. They went to his old school, or 'madrassa' as Insight Magazine and Fox News termed it. It really was nothing of the sort - quite funny really! Did that get aired in the US?
In any case if he HAD been a muslim as young boy then wouldn't his convertion to Christianity, therefore make him an apostate which apparently would mean Islam says he should die? Guess this is moot as whoever becomes POTUS will be top of that AQ hit list purely because they are leading the US!
Could one hazard a guess that some of the Islamic states might actually welcome the concept of a US president who actually understands the precepts of Islam more so than Bush, who seems to struggle with the concept of doing up his tie?
Might it help build relationships more positively perhaps? I dunno...may be something there.
As an aside it seems the use of the word 'extreme' before 'muslim' has become almost obligatory. There ARE moderate muslims who are simply not being vocal enough or are as terrified of the fundamentalists as everyone else.
I wish these moderates would speak up against the radical, but then unlike many of them I don't live in an environment where the goons will come crashing through the door, haul me away, put a couple of 9mm in the back of my head and leave me in the street!
Bad taste to provoke a civil servant with this dribble - worse taste for a civil official to act in this manner. He should be impeached and sued. Dumb fucking white trash from Staten Island
Mako and thebug; I asked for some thoughts, and I thank you for responding. I guess it was narrowminded of me to automatically think Obama might be "bad" somehow for his early muslim teachings. I'm just not very politically minded it seems. Which is one reason I enjoy so many of the lively "discussions" I see here on Glumbert. If nothing else, there are a wide variety of opinions, and different ways to approach many issues. And once in a while, I even learn something.
As Bug says, if Obama DOES have a little more understanding it certainly won't be a bad thing.
There are those among us who would dispute this...but then they'd tend to be the same kind of Fox News suck-ups who'd like to see the term 'extreme muslim' applied on a blanket basis.
And of course they don't like to hear anyone suggest their idolatry of Bush means they're stupid.
I think he gave a human(non politik) reaction, i also understand those people who are so freaked out by confrontation to be turned off by such a unrestrained reaction.
He swore and blustered. He didnt touch anybody, you obviously have never been to NY if you think swearing is a crime.
Nothing wrong with him getting pissed at these idiots wasting his time. This is time the taxpayers pay for and these dorks act like hes wrong. Bullshit.
Good for him for having the balls to act like this.
