That is incredibly cruel. What has happened to our soldiers who have no compassion for living creatures obviously in great pain. The dog was injured in some way and couldn't walk. This reflects badly on our servicemen and the video should never have been made.
You *bet* "the video should never have been made" because it should never have happened in the first place. I know it's but a tiny blip in the general horrors of war, but this infuriates me, as I'm sure it would the military K9 handlers whose dogs have saved an awful lot of lives. Somehow, I don't think soldiers who have no simple compassion for a crippled, obviously suffering dog are going to be all that successful at "winning hearts and minds" over in Iraq.

First let me say, you are absolutely correct in your disgust for something cruel. They're lack of compassion is pathetic. However, your post completely made YOUR point look stupid. To ridicule "military intelligence" when you misspelled "threw" (through) "edjucation" (education) and "desserts" (desert) doesn't really make me believe I should listen to you. And to suggest that one of their family members should be hurt doesn't really solidify the image that you're a good person. Read SEEKER's post. It says a lot more than yours.
This is just horrible! Do they not have any sympathy! There is nothing funny about this and these men should be punished for even recording this. The poor dog has suffered enough.
Get some perspective people - its a war zone, and human life is worth less than that dog's life in the eyes of those we're fighting. Its a dog for God's sake! And one that is suffering, by the way. They are not making fun of it, but are amazed at what they see. Its natural to laugh at situations that are novel and frightful, too.. I have a good friend whose father was a firefighter. He showed me pictures of a car accident scene where the firefighters were laughing at a piece of brain that was creeping slowly down a window. Gross, yes. But those guys were confronting a traumatic experience with laughter as a defense mechanism. Same thing applies here - young men in a war zone are looking for a comical distraction amidst the horror. Those of you who say these soldiers should somehow suffer for laughing at this dog - you have no idea what its like to not know if you will live out the day for something greater than yourself - like the call of duty to your country. If you think you can do better, step up and enlist. Go out there and show them how its done. If you can't pull yourself away from fucking Guitar Hero long enough to help, then shut the fuck up and enjoy your safe, pampered, sheltered lives in middle America.
I also find this video clip very disturbing. However, I also believe that it is unrealistic to burden young men -- or anyone for that matter -- with the duty of killing and expect them to regard all life as sacred.
This is just awful!!! These are real idiots in this clip. There are many stories of soldiers rescuing dogs in Iraq. Certainly these "people" never had a pet of their own. Very cruel indeed. Makes you want to cry!

I didn't want to watch this purely because of the title and I really wish that I hadn't. I have a dog myself and adore her (and all dogs) and this just gave me a pain in my chest. As well as the dog being in absolute agony, it was terrified: so much so that it ran away on two legs as it already does not trust humans and it didn't have a choice.
The soldiers were saying it's the funniest thing they had seen. It's frightening to think that their intelect is so low and they are the ones who are supposed to be changng things in Iraq for the better and representing their country.

I certainly don't hope anything happens to these young men, but I also hope that somehow they will learn a lesson in compassion from what they are doing here. I have seen many more pictures of our troops engaged much more compassionate actions with the citizens of Iraq. God Bless them. Couldn't these guys have shown some of that to this poor animal?
i cant believe that those soldiers are laughing at that....how f***ked in the head do you have to be to see humour in an animals pain... The poor dog was not part of this stupid war that keeps going on and its inhumane that someone has allowed the poor animal to be harmed that way and let in live in so much pain. Shame on you soldiers for throwing stones at a defensless and injured animal and i hope that some day you will be in that dogs position and then we can all throw rocks at you and laugh
"The dog was not part of this stupid war..." Well, neither were those soldiers. They were CALLED on at their sworn DUTY to serve their country. They are doing as they promised. It wasn't their decision to go to war, and they don't have the liberty to refuse to serve.
The children of Iraq were not part of the war either... why not show empathy for them instead of a stupid dog?
I love dogs too, but they don't save lives.. They do as they are trained. Dogs don't willingly risk their lives, they are just looking for a little praise and a snack, and are oblivious to the fact that they may put their own lives in danger.
I'd just like to say, I'm from a military family and my grandfather, father and brother have all served in conflicts around the world (eastern front 1942-1950, bosnia, N.ireland in the 90s, and currently afghanistan, respectively). They have all seen horrible things and even in one case my grandfather held a 17 year old soldier in his harms, trying to plug the gaping hole in his neck while praying with him as he lay dying. These things are horrific and naturally change any person. And everyone is affected differently, I know. Each of these men would never do something as base and stupid as to throw rocks at a dog, disabled or not. Don't try to pin it on 'the horrors of war'. Alot worse has happened and hasn't turned people into idiots. Sorry just felt compelled to say that.

I just saw this video and it makes me sick. I find it extremely sad that this is 'the funniest thing" he ever saw. What a pathetic life he must live. Reading some of the other comments, I am a christian as well, and I don't care if it is only a dog. Do I value this dogs life over a human's? NO. Do I value this dogs life as one of God's living, breathing creatures that is terrified and in pain? ABSOLUTELY! It makes me sick in my heart that our soldiers would consider this some kind of entertainment. Wouldn't you think that they see enough cruelty and terror happening around them without causing some more, even to a crippled dog?
