If by democracy you mean DELIBERATIVE democracy then, no, America is not one.
America is "representative" democracy...however one could make an argument that the people are not "truly" represented and instead special interests such as corporations control the playing field in Washington. I tend to agree.
vote ron paul if you want to reduce taxes cut spending shrink government protect our border and limit the governments involvement in the affairs of the people as our founding fathers intended
Ron paul doesn't come off as knowing what he's talking about. I support him because He is for minimal government. However, he completely misapplies the constitution to his debates. Presidents dont decide what is and isn't constitutional, the judicial branch does in the form of the supreme court. In fact, the things he proposes do nothing but increase the power of the executive branch. If he does get into office and does the things he proposes, the government will adopt a minarchical form through tyrannical means.
Ron Paul's outlook on civil liberties ("limiting involvement in the affairs of the people") and his outward opposed stance to a national id card (what Guiliani favors) is excellent.
However, I think 1) taxes should be cut for the middle and lower classes of america and raised on the richest (1.0 mil ) of America, also raised on corporations 2) the borders (especially the southern border) should be protected and mexicans seized and taken back to their own damn land, and amnesty is NOT justifiable if they entered in the country ILLEGALLY 3) cut military spending and discourage american foreign military occupancy 4) universal health care is a long sought-after RIGHT that all americans should have
