I am formally claiming FIRST to post LAST (reference my earlier post on this video, above).
To be clear, this includes:
LAST Fuckers!
LAST Buttholes!
LAST you peice of crap canuk!
and so on and so forth.
This distinguished title is unique among first posting claims because, as the last video ever to post on Glumbert (obviously - peice of shit site went down in a bankruptcy from hell - advertisers likely filing suit for mismanagment and general shittiness), no-one can ever post LAST twice. There simply is no future opportunity.
I am thinking of changing my screen name to "waslastoneday" and reveling in my glory forevermore, telling my grandkids that I was Fist to be Last on this internet thingy there used to be before direct brain/information downloads were commonplace.
So all you firsters, so proud, so accomplished, you have all been SERVED.
You are right.
Between the rapes and gratuitous torturing, they only had time to yell something like that. But, they were on the morally sound side of the war, right?
Canuck
I assume then, from your comments, you are ok with raping as a deterrent for raping...or, as a punishment for raping.
BTW- Sherman's march through ATL was not because of his moral high dugeon over slavery. They did not gratuitously rape and kill because of their hatred for slavery.
Canuck
"They had it coming to them anyway."
Where do you draw the line? Is this the kind of moral justice that you see fit? The Islamic terrorists agree with you. The make no distinction between the individual perpetrators of a percieved inequity or the people that live in the area.
Your rationales keeps coming back to bigotry.
What is the matter with you, Canuck? You gleefully point out that people in Atlanta were raped and gratuitously tortured as a natural consequence of slave ownership. Do you even know if the people who were on the receiving end of Sherman's justice owned slaves? If they did, did they treat their slaves in the same manner, to warrant such treatment? Aren't the actions of Sherman et al. (Christians-the lot of them.) the same type of war crimes you think our soldiers perpetrated in the Middle East?
Yes, I know we were once owned by GB. What point do you have?
Canuck...another telling point: You would have erased them from history.
Thus, rendering further generations to not learning all that could be learned about man's own weaknesses and past.
Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.
Just so you know, seceding the Union was legal and not even a radical notion at the time.
Its worth pointing out that while GB did once own America, we eventually fought them off to claim our independence. Whereas Canada was also owned by GB, and I recall no great war of independence, only tiny baby steps towards self governance almost 100 years later.
However, after 200 years, all grudges from the US war of independence are long since put to rest, and we like and respect our GB allies.
They, i.e. YOUR 'kinfolk'......were traitors to the Union AND the Republic. End of story. Sugar-coat it all you like. I especially got a HUGE laugh from your sudden leap to comparing my viewpoints to 'islamic terrorists'....LMFAO! Well, sorry to break the news to you, buuuuut.....my huge oil-portrait of William Tecumseh Sherman will stay put, thanks. By-the-by....your side l-o-s-t. The Union side w-o-n. Stop bellyaching over it. Just accept it.
HD:
Very cute speech. Made me misty-eyed. Although a more apt metaphor would be thus: You folks threw a tantrum, and moved out of the house; WE simply waited until we felt were old enough, and moved out on good terms----no muss, no fuss.
So, we can conclude from this little thread, the following:
1. You are perfectly fine with torture and in fact, very much in support of it, provided it is a sort of comupance.
2. Your understanding of the Civil War ends in the 3rd grade.
1. I am not perfectly fine with "torture"; do you not recall me raking Helldiver (and yourself) over the coals for condoning and supporting it, as exceuted by your previous C-in-C? Think back. Carefully.
2. My understanding of your Civil War is quite simple:
Your side lost. The side I think should have won....did.
Are they implying that.....Dick......LIED about something here???
Oh heavens....I am in such a state of shock.
And this man was TORTURED, Stream-O, by the same individuals who call themselves "Americans" and claim to represent "American values" (thank god a majority of folks can see this is not so).
But you and your 22 percenters? Nope. You're actually okay with this rapid fall-from-grace.
You and your neocon friends should at least have the temerity to be ashamed and disgusted with yourselves.
Canuck
You said one thing here correct: Your understanding of the Civil War is quite simple.
Your position on torture is evident from the above where you celebrated Sherman's rout of ATL and the rapes, etc that occured.
Your hypocricy knows no bounds.
That was good article, Canuck. Did you read it all? It is not the unbiased news story of cold hard facts that you wish it to be. Mixing loosely, the term waterboarding and torture, shows the "journalists" bent. Further, when you read down a bit, you see that this character gets himself into trouble with claims of his own contacts and role in Al Qaeda. The tag line that was intended certainly got your back up, but the whole story doesn't support your position entirely.
You clearly have no problem with rape and gratuitous killing, as per your notes above. It seems your only problem with what you believe is torture is who is conducting it.
Funny how YOU can use the NY Times when YOU think it serves YOUR purpose to quote something....but when it comes to something like THIS, where you STILL continue to rationalize and justify TORTURE?
YOU believe the Earth is 6,000 years old; YOU believe that Sen. McCarthy was 'right'; YOU believe the Vietnam War prevented....welllll.....whatever you believe it prevented; YOU believe the Iraq War (occupation) was for a 'humanitarian' cause; YOU believe that Dick Cheney is a swell guy; YOU believe that torture is okay...........
"Very cute speech. Made me misty-eyed. Although a more apt metaphor would be thus: You folks threw a tantrum, and moved out of the house; WE simply waited until we felt were old enough, and moved out on good terms----no muss, no fuss. "
Well obviously the prodigal son has returned and made good with the parents again, since the US and GB are strong allies. But apparantly the US as a nation matured and was capable of standing on its own much sooner than Canada.
"I am not perfectly fine with "torture"; do you not recall me raking Helldiver (and yourself) over the coals for condoning and supporting it, as exceuted by your previous C-in-C? Think back. Carefully. "
Why I remember, and yet you now condone Union troops torture and rape or southerners, just because they were potential rebels. This is no different than condoning torture and rape of Iraqis, just because they were potential insurgents. Very inconsistent of you Canuck. Or does 145 years make torture and rape somehow less heiness?
The Union was right in their cause, as was GWB, that does not condone the methods used to support that cause. I fail to see how this is different. Sure the reasons for the war were different, but you always argued no war gives you reason to torture (and rape).
Different time, different standards for war, I get that. I don't get Canuck's apparant doublestandards.
"My understanding of your Civil War is quite simple:
Your side lost. The side I think should have won....did. "
Yup, that's pretty simple alright. But I can understand the Southerners wanting power with the state, freedom from a federal overlord (that we're all stuck with today). This was exactly the same fight we still have today, should we have small limited government, or large all powerful government? In this instance, the large powerful federal government prevailed, and used force instead of diplomacy to get their way. Necessary maybe, but it was a clear and dangerous precedent.
"Or did I miss something?" Yes, a whole lot. Actually the civil war had very little at the start to do with slavery. Freeing the slaves was the classic new reason for the war, after the initial reasons proved not compelling enough to keep brother killing brother after 4 long bloody years. Kinda like "bring democracy to Iraq" after it became a quagmire. Wars ideals tend to get more noble as the war drags on and becomes more costly.
"It was a draw. "
It was a win of large centralized government over states rights. As for freeing the slaves, well they were already free in the north. In the south, "freedom" only gave rise to the KKK and Jim Crow laws, they didn't really attain freedom until much later.
"YOU believe the Earth is 6,000 years old; YOU believe that Sen. "
And right back to religious attacks, personal defamation, slander, and presumption of Streamo's beliefs. :-(
The one zealot defending the other zealot. Notice how these two are the ONLY ONES who support one another, and each others views? Sad. And they STILL don't get when they're being needled. Good. I'll keep doing it:
1. Everything and everyONE south of the Mason-Dixon should have been burned, raped, levelled, obliterated and otherwise destroyed beyond recognition. Are we clear on this finally? Is THAT 'consistant' enough for you?
2. "But apparantly the US as a nation matured and was capable of standing on its own much sooner than Canada." Yeah? And then what? Lemme see: genocidal policies against the natives; slavery; oppression of women...and on and on....oh yeah, asshole; you really 'matured' as a nation. As per your own admission, stop being so "weighted" by your own version of 'U.S. history' and limited knowledge of history in general , and try to get out more outside of that screwy little box of yours. You ain't always been the"good guys' you THINK you fucking were. Haven't I already fuckin' straightened you out on this? "Empires" are NOT built by "good" or "nice" guys. It's built by those who have no compulsion about taking, murdering, stealing and/or otherwise forcibly conquering their fellow human beings. Do you need me to paste for you the complete history of the times U.S. military power was used....AGAIN?? Smarten the fuck up, do some GENUINE research and put the flag away. By the way: you keep crowing on and on and pissing and moaning about how "Hitler" and the Nazis were "evil" even when it has nothing to do with the topic at hand!), but do you know what the difference was between HIS policies regarding the Jews and historical American policies regarding indiginous natives were? Easy:
Someone decided to STOP HIM.
3. "In this instance, the large powerful federal government prevailed, and used force instead of diplomacy to get their way. Necessary maybe, but it was a clear and dangerous precedent." Really? Uhh, no: there will be NO negotiating with terrorists and/or traitors. Those fucks were one-in-the-same, as far as I'm concerned. And their precious redneck flag? THAT flag was directly responsible for the deaths of hundrdes of thousands of loyal, young Americans. So fuck'em. Try reading THAT history (for once). LIke I said...Empires ain't built by nice guys.
4. With the exception of one minor technical point...you've been wrong on EVERYTHING else. You made a good stab at putting on a show like you may have known something. But you've failed. You actually know relatively little, if anything. As long as it's got stars-and-stripes....then everything's A-OK and you know all you need to know. Period.
I expect nothing less from anyone occupying that nutty end of the spectrum.
"Everything and everyONE south of the Mason-Dixon should have been burned, raped, levelled, obliterated and otherwise destroyed beyond recognition."
So because some southerners abused slaves, and wanted to seceed from the union, all should have been destroyed? So by that logic, we can start carpet-bombing Afghanistan and Iraq, because some of them supported the insurgency and terrorism? You have a massive double-standard here.
Maybe you're a torture-lover? Here I always thought you hated conservatives, but maybe you really hate southerners?
"Lemme see: genocidal policies against the natives; slavery; oppression of women...and on and on"
I never said everything the US has done historically was right, nor was treatment of the native Americans right. Where the hell did I say that? I said America was ready to break with England, and stand on its own as a nation sooner than Canada. That doesn't mean the US made the right decisions morally everytime. The US did build an empire, and broke a lot of eggs doing it. But nice interpretation of what I wrote, feel free to make up whatever you like. Once again, get a nicotine patch ya whiney bitch.
"Really? Uhh, no: there will be NO negotiating with terrorists and/or traitors. Those fucks were one-in-the-same, as far as I'm concerned. "
So who set the precedent of using military force over diplomacy? Bush against Iraq, or Lincoln against the south 142 years earlier? Precedent means its the first of something there genius. But now I can't tell if you're condoning Lincoln, since those damn southerners got what they deserved, or if your slamming him with your "Those fucks were one-in-the-same" comment.
"I said America was ready to break with England, and stand on its own as a nation sooner than Canada."
No, asshole.
That's NOT what you said.
HERE...is what you said:
"......But apparantly the US as a nation 'MATURED' and was capable of standing on its own...."
My point was that you did NOT fucking 'mature'....as a matter of fact, you were just about as fucking far away as you could fucking get from 'matured as a nation'.
As I've said many times before, the U.S. has done some truly great things, even remarkable I would say. BUT.....it really pisses me off to no end when fuckers like YOU believe that you somehow occupy the high-ground when it comes to how a nation comes into its own. It's pricks like YOU (and Stream-O) who give the majority of sensible Americans a bad rap on the international stage.
Wow, I'm not even sure what pissed you off so badly, unless your just back to Canuck theatrics 101 again. Maybe you have some kind of Canadian inferiority complex to the US? Does the fact that America forcibly removed its English landlords ~80 years before Canada somehow bother you? Or is it any American that might show pride in his nations past history that bothers you? If so, get over it. Americans have lots of history to be proud of, and lots of history to be not so proud of, but I can guarantee you the pride outweighs the shame for good reason.
I used to be annoyed by arrogant Texans maybe for the same reason you're so annoyed by me. All I can say is, if you can't get over it, and insist on simply screaming asshole like a bipolar petulant child, than fuck off. You can be a big fucking baby your whole life, or grow up and realize other people have opinions that differ from you, and that alone doesn't make them bad people that you can treat like shit. Your way of thinking is not more correct than anyone elses.
Reminds me of my days in Vermont. Do Yall see that shootin car over dare? Everybody has to have at least one.
The rich folk in my neighborhood were always showing off to the neighbors, by having a shooting car, a dog house car, a car parts storage car, and some even had a driving car.
I had a few shooting cars when I was younger. (Imagine that right C?) My stepdad always wanted them hauled away. I seem to remember getting cars around $50, pulling parts of them or driving them into the ground, shooting them full of holes, and then selling them for scrap around $35. Good clean fun! I probably wasted more on ammo than on the cars.
Nowadays, my neighborhood covenant has a thing against shooting cars...
Yep I had me a shootin truck, unfortunately for me, it shot back! 21 years old and I still thought I was bullet proof, so I cap off a round with my 30-30 Winchester model 94 at the steering wheel and that sucker turned right around and bit me in the side of my left leg, bout nut high (whew!) I still have it in me to this day, matter of fact saw it on an x-ray last year.
I had a friend of mine fire a shotgun at a junkers gas cap, which unfortunately had a bowl shape to the surrounding sheet metal, and sent bbs right back at him. One hit his leg, didn't break the skin though. We learned from that... for a while.
Hey guess how I feel about writing out that check to the Fed this weekend. It is some feeling to know that my much needed cash will be directly transferred to multi-billion corporations, and multi-millionaire bonuses, and then this morning I saw this.
It feels almost as good as sending your money to lazy drug smoking welfare sucking losers.
I like to imagine my tax dollars being spent on shiny new tanks, bombs, and bullets, and only other people's tax dollars are wasted. I'm livin the dream!
Yep.
Let's see if I understand the process:
Step 1: Lie, directly and by omission, to the American People about who is to blame and what the problems actually are, thus creating an object of hatred. (Corporate execs and ipso facto, private industry/wealth.)
Step 2: (Concurrent with Step 1.) Create a sense of panic and thus, propose solutions that must be acted upon at that immediate moment. (Bailouts, borrow-outs, buy outs and that the gubment is the solution)
Step 3: (Assuming the average American knows very little of the proper role of gubment or cares very little given the circumstances) Continue to insert the gubment in places it has no business unless crimes were committed. Even then, the logical solutions involve prosecutions...not new legislation.
So, now that we have a nice panic going on AND a scapegoat, people can actually fabricate their own ire on companies like JP Morgan and AIG, who are acting within the law and by my estimation, spending their money relatively prudently by honoring contracts, etc (Contracts, by the way, Geithner helped construct in September AND that Congress has know about for sometime). If JP Morgan had contracts to build more planes and lease hangar space, please tell me how that is bad for an economy. Further, they claim no TARP money is used that this is budget money long-ago assigned. Aside from perceivable bad taste, what is the problem?
A long time ago, I and others said BHO is incompetent. It appears that that is the case.
Thank you, GWB, for NOT being a fiscal conservative and laying the groundwork for this embarrassment.
Did you generate those steps yourself, or simply read them from the "Communist Manifesto"?
1. Stoke the class warfare through skillful use of propaganda.
2. Promote revolution of the classes.
3. Create the perfect state controlled utopia!
Its not that BHO is incompetent, its just that he's competent in ways that are destructive to America.
And I do very much wish to thank GWB, for setting the groundwork of government instilled panic and wasteful spending. So GWB, fuck you very much. Without you're clear stupid-assed bail-out precedent, and years of financial neglect, none of Obama's current government orchestrated socialism would be possible.
Manifesto, indeed.
Notice that capitalist pigs do not need to rile the public to achieve the obvious.
HD- I would say that just because BHO is a raging, trained and educated leftist does not make him any more competent. He has zero executive skills or background...or, understanding, for that matter. But, he does have a lovely singing voice.
As proof of his incompetence: His appearance on Leno and his special Olympics joke...his gifts of DVDs to the British PM (WRONG REGION DVDs, to boot)...his nomination of Geithner.
As proof of his Stalinism: Everything else.
GWB owes us all an aoplogy for allowing this discussion to even take place.
Well it is obvious that Obama doesn't speak so eloquantly without his teleprompter... more around the level of Bush speaking with his teleprompter. But you can either rail against Obama as incompetent, and risk underestimating him, or assume he's competent enough to be dangerous. I believe Obama intends the best for America, its just that his vision of America is so very different from my own.
Agreed.
His incompetence doesn't make him any less dangerous. Popularity or, perceived popularity, is the grease that lubes the gears. For the time being, he can get a lot done in the context of panic and scapegoating. I have not misunderestimated him or the people who are pulling his strings.
His incompetence is in the management of the executive office.
The Talented Mr. Ripley said, (and I paraphrase) "No one want to believe about themselves that they are bad. It is that opiate that allows us to do anything."
Stalin, Mao, etc...were not nihilists. They probably thought that breaking all those eggs was worth the creation of that wonderful omelette.
It looks like BHO's vision doesn't marry up with many American's visions, either.
Notice how Stream-O continues to give Georgie-Boy a free-pass on EVERYTHING, while at the same time completely ignoring the fact that the current President is simply trying to clean up his predecessors' mess? Gee, it's almost like he's just ITCHING to lay the blame outright on the current PRESIDENT.....but is stymied.
By-the-by, Stream-O.......care to take a guess as to which western nation currently has THE strongest/most stable banking system right now? And would you care to guess why, and how they have that? Huh?
I've gotten to the point now where I've decided that no matter what happens, this country is fucked. So why bother? Sit back, and for those of you that are both old enough and like doing so, crack open a cold one.
However, any individuals named Streamy that would like to continue helping Al Gore and his fantasies of global warming, please continue to do so, as it does have its amusing points.
I can't get over how ingenuous this is going to look.
HD - If times were normal, and the government were not borrowing from everyone's future earnings, then I could imagine that some percentage of my tax was not wasted, but lets face it belongs to the Chinese.
Stream - As a shareholder in these bailout companies, I can make any statement as to their activities that I please. However since I will not even get a proxy vote, or a invite to the shareholders meeting, then Glumbert will have to do. Shareholder griping is a very American sport.
If I were to agree with Bernake that NO taxpayer money has been used for this bailout, then I guess everything is OK. I happen to disagree. He is technically correct though, because I do send my tax money to the Fed (not the government), and it is theirs to do with as they wish, but of course I will go to jail if I don't send it to them. Is that capitalism?
"Thank you, GWB, for NOT being a fiscal conservative and laying the groundwork for this embarrassment."
C, I thought you just said Streamo gives GWB a free pass on EVERYTHING? This appears to be sarcastic criticism of GWB's fiscal spending, wouldn't you agree? Are you omitting easily read facts again to support wild accusations?
As for the global warming link, how is it that CO2 can possibly be considered a pollutant? More CO2, more plants, more food, a greener world. CO2 has been so much higher in the past, from purely natural reasons...
Unless you believe my theory about the Sleestaks glorious civilization, military-industrial build-up, and resulting nuclear war of annihilation about 65 million years ago. ;-)
That's what you call a very, very, VERY SOFT.....admonishment of THE Worst President In The History Of Your Grand Republic (with an equally worse and far more corrupt V-P).
And are YOU claiming to have more expertise, knowledge and experience the the United States Enviromental Protection Agency? Hmm? Are you?
"That's what you call a very, very, VERY SOFT.....admonishment of THE Worst President In The History"
I never said it wasn't soft, but it wasn't a free pass either.
"And are YOU claiming to have more expertise, knowledge and experience the the United States Enviromental Protection Agency? Hmm? Are you? "
Maybe. Historical ice samples going back thousands of years, give scientists info on the atmosphere at those times. CO2 has been much higher in the past, not necessarily linked to periods of warmer temperatures. If anything, the higher CO2 levels are a result of global warming, (more plants, longer growing seasons) not the cause of it.
The current global warming predictions are based on less than 200 years of localized observed weather patterns, and maybe a few decades of serious study. Statistically, this is like predicting the median life expectancy of humans by observing one person for a few minutes.
Of course the next ice age was thought to be coming in the 70s, so its not like the best scientific minds haven't been completely wrong before.
And of course, the EPA being a government run organization, currently a democrat run organization, would no doubt be above any possible political bias right? Right... And pigs will fly out of my ass. Did I mention scientists only get government grants to study global warming if they predict massive catastrophe... without further study of course. I wonder how much stimulus money is going to further study this man-made theory? Is it global warming or global cooling this week? Its just so hard to decide which one will get more grant money this year.
Yes mankind is spewing crap into the atmosphere, that is not natural. However, nature spews an order of magnitude more crap every time a volcano takes a shit. We humans are supremely arrogant to believe we can much affect this planet. This planet has cycled through temp extremes many times in the past, and will many times in the future.
Climate change is natural. Trying to halt climate change is unnatural. Besides, P-BO promised to bring us change. And as P-BO likes to say, Yes we can! Now how can you not trust a man using Bob the Builder quotes for his campaign slogan?
So Canuck, no FB on my rise and fall of the Sleestak empire theory? Its just a matter of time before some Pylons are found, then we can just use those to control the weather. Global warming castastrophe averted! ;-)
If you want, you can embellish my theory that it was Sleestak religious infighting that led to their nuclear annihilation... and resulting destruction of the dinosaurs, and wild climate change. Damn Sleestaks!
Canuck
I hope the cigaratte remain sealed and that Glumbert provides a place to alleviate stress. (OWA TAHDOR KI YAM...seriously)
I have not been the Republican you wish me to be. Since GWB's election, I have criticised where I deemed necessary, detracted from his detractors when necessary, and supported when necessary. As I have said repeatedly, GWB's spending of the taxpayers' money has been less than conservative and should have been championed by the left. Because he was hated, hate hate hated, everything he did was ridiculed and questioned to the point of absurdity.
And now...BHO carries out and continues most of his policies. Why? Because they weren't conservstive to begin with. BHO just mulitiplied GWB's spending 10 fold. I have not given GWB a pass at all. This is not about Republicans or Dems, since not a small number of Repulicans are spending like drunken Dems.
Now, the logical part:
When confronted with a deficit or looming debt, what does one do?
If you are a family or a business, you try to generate more money by selling more or working more. Then, you look at cutting budgets and frivolous/discretionary spending.
If you are the gubment, you should try to do those very things, too. So, to produce more (get more taxes from the population) the gubment should want the people to produce more, right...sinced that is where the gubment gets its money. Further, faced with biblical levels of debt and large deficits, one would think many gubment programs would be on the chopping block.
Neither of these two things are occuring.
Instead, the gubment is mounting the debt higher and higher. TARP 1...which is probably still unread in Congress and is still unaccounted for in the ether to which it was blown.(GWB left BHO with about a $500B debt. It is now 4X that amount...In 3 months.) Plus, the BHO proposed budget is unsustainable according to the CBO (and anyone else who cares to read it.)
Yet, many still fuss at coporate CEO's for their bonuses and complain at PRIVATE money being spent in the PRIVATE SECTOR without a whit's concern over the nationalistic tendencies and nazi tactics being employed by our gubment.
Canuck, it is no surprise that Canada's banks are currently more stable, as they did not over leverage themselves based on incentives given by the federal gubment. (Thank you Jimmy Carter, ACORN) It remains to be seen if that sort of thing lasts. I am glad for Canada as they may be able to weather this global storm.
Our banks continue to lend, those that weren't too overly leveraged...they just now don't lend to NINJ's but lend to more traditional borrowers. As they always did.
Redshift: please to explain your comment.
Canuck- (MSNBC article)I hope it continues. Don't celebrate too early: tomorrow is another day. And, the DOW is down around 2000 points since BHO's inauguration. Not the vote of confidence you think it is.
Podman- You are not a shareholder in all the bailout companies. AIG is one (79.9 percent, I believe). You have every right to complain, I just think your ire is misplaced for the aforementioned reasons. To the rest of your comments: I absolutely agree.
HD- great job on the CO2 silliness. It is, was and continues to be another hoax created to govern and micromanage our lives. And, yes, you do know more than BHO about the subject. By the way, at what temp do you set your thermostat, HD? (I am sure it reflects your public and private values.)
Stream - All that money and I'm not a shareholder! Yes I knew that, but absurdity builds upon absurdity sometimes. as per : BHO = Stalin? ...and we all know the closest example this country has to Stalin is Rush.
HD- As to global warming; scientific research has proven that a 5 degree rise in global temperature will make humans extinct, and a ten percent rise will kill off most life (Permian extinction). The planet has many systems that balance the climate via sequestered and releasing carbon, once warming begins these systems tip toward producing massive amounts of greenhouse gasses, not the other way around.
This tipping point is what all the fuss is all about folks...and it has already begun. The permafrost is warming and beginning to emit carbon, the oceans are warming and is slowing as a carbon sink. The only mechanism the planet has to reverse such rapid change is freezing, as of this point Greenland is slowing the Gulf stream current by injecting fresh water, and when the Gulf stream shuts down, the freezing begins.
So.. maybe we should stop arguing about the cause and begin with discussing the consequences. Either side of the tipping point will cause billions to die, and need 100K years for climate correction.
Podman
When I go back and read my posts, I don't say BHO = Stalin. Reducing the argument to that is absurd, as well. Likening rises to power and political similarities...that is what I am doing.
You will need to explain Rush's similarity to Stalin.
As to your Global climate change points: The first sentence is not necessarily a fact, as it stands. There is much, much more to a statement like that. Do you mean "average" climate change?
(The solar cycles are also not mentioned too often...and they should be.)
It is not a foregone conclusion that the change that is occuring is (a) completely man-made, (b) rapid, (c) deleterious, if there is change.
We don't know that things have already begun nor do we know that billions will die and it will take 100K years for climate correction.
"As to global warming; scientific research has proven that a 5 degree rise in global temperature will make humans extinct, and a ten percent rise will kill off most life (Permian extinction). "
Did you watch the movie "The Day After Tommorrow" last night? Because the bogus science in that movie is representative of the theory you're defending. The Earth's climate system is a reasonably stable system, with feedback mechanisms generally stabilizing any extremes. If it gets too hot, we generate more clouds, which reflect more heat into space. As the ocean warms, it also evaporates more clouds. If the Earth's climate system was this incredibly fragile bipolar system, wouldn't climate be fixed at either extreme of ice age or desert / tropical rain forest? Earth's climate is a dynamic system to a large degree, self correcting. That's why I say mankind is arrogant to think we can much affect it.
You're statements are not proven, they are opinion of some scientists, not shared by all, not even a majority concensus.
I don't see how humans could not adapt to 5 degree temp rises, we adapt to everything else conceiveable. I'm not saying it might not make life for some difficult. But realistically, if the world was in such a fragile tipping point as you say, we're already fucked, and couldn't stop it if we tried. Should we all become Luddites, abandon all technology? That would surely cause billions to die.
Besides as Tina Fey said on SNL, impersonating Sarah Palin, "maybe its just a natural part of the End of Days?" Canuck will like that one. ;-)
I'm all for cutting pollution. Our children deserve to breathe clean air. However, CO2 is not pollution. It is a natural gas, cyclic before humans arrived, and it will be cyclic after we're gone. To believe us humans can regulate the Earth's CO2 levels to control climate is pure folly.
But everyone talks about the negatives of global warming, are there no positives to consider? Would it not be helpful for humans to be able to live further towards the poles comfortably? To have longer growing seasons for crops? To have higher CO2 levels increasing plant life? The Earth has been much warmer before, it will be much warmer again. To see only negatives in this, is purely pessimistic. I'm an optimist, besides, I live in Minnesota.
HD - Nope, the data is not from a movie, and I never get my data from movies. Were you aware that the air pollution is actually cooling the planet right now (global dimming has been measured around the world).
Dude, you say you are an engineer, and you are saying that a cycle cannot change amplitude or period. The cause is immaterial, but the science is sound. Some countries are considering dumping iron in the ocean to make it bloom, so that it will absorb more carbon, but it will also kill off large areas of the sea.
Past 5 degrees of ocean temperature rise ALL of the sequestered methane will boil out, and suffocate every breathing creature on the planet. This is what killed off 95 percent of all life on the planet in the Permian.
Oh really? I suppose if the Dow continued its free-fall....then you'd have no problem tripping over yourself laying the blame squarely at OBama's feet....right? But when it goes up (like its doing).....you put on your muted gag, and say "Not the vote of confidence you think it is".
You DO know how transparent you look when you do this.....right?
Typo on my part (now how on earth did I EVAH get you two mixed up?? Golly....I dunno :-)

"Were you aware that the air pollution is actually cooling the planet right now (global dimming has been measured around the world). "
I've heard this. I've heard aircraft contrails are also partially responsible for global dimming. Air pollution has cooled the planet before. Like after Krakatoa blew up, or many other natural events. We could destroy our economies trying to cut pollution, starving millions, only to have a single volcano or meteor ruin our climate. There are no guarantees in life. There are certainly no guarantees the path we are on will destroy our planet.
"Dude, you say you are an engineer, and you are saying that a cycle cannot change amplitude or period. "
Not what I said at all. I said the Earth's climate is naturally cyclic, meaning it will have changes in amplitude and period. I also said Earth's climate is a dynamic system that appears to be fairly stabilized around a norm. It has periods of highs and lows, but always cycles back around. We can't control that despite our best efforts, and we may very well be in a natural changing cycle, regardless of human impact.
I never said the climate isn't changing. I said its changed many times before, will again, and its not necessarily a bad thing. You voted for Obama, you should like change! It may be argueable that climate is changing, even though scientists can't even agree whether its warming or cooling from decade to decade. However, its even less argueable that mankind is the cause of this round of climate change. Man was never the cause for climate change before, and it still happened.
Maybe our efforts are unknowlingly forstalling global warming? Maybe without global dimming, our world would already be a sweatbox, like it was many many times in the past? But us humans can't even figure out which way the climate is going, its way too complex for us to figure out so far, and we'd be completely ignorant even attempting to "fix" the problem.
Reduce pollution sure. Start dumping iron in the ocean? We already did that in WW1 and WW2! Seriously though bad idea. We've had many bad environmental ideas throughout time...
In 1975, people were so afraid of a coming Ice Age, they created plans to dump soot on the polar icecaps, to absorb more solar radiation. Good thing we didn't do that.
Off the coast of Florida and elsewhere, some well wishing environmental geniouses dumps thousands of used tires in the ocean, thinking it would create foundations for coral reefs. Years later, no coral, only rotting tires in the ocean that now need to be cleaned up.
Our history is filled with well-meaning idiots, trying to fix nature, without fully understanding the problem. Are you sure you understand global warming well enough to know how to fix it? If we stop all pollution tommorrow, we may only end global dimming, and really screw ourselves!
And old rule that applies to this situation, "If you don't know what the fuck you're doing, don't fuck with it."
"Past 5 degrees of ocean temperature rise ALL of the sequestered methane will boil out, and suffocate every breathing creature on the planet. This is what killed off 95 percent of all life on the planet in the Permian."
The theory of massive methane hydrate gasification is only one of three, the others being cosmic impact and volcanism. I still say it was the Sleestak nuclear war, after they developed cheap simple nuclear fusion energy, and the Sleestak jihad started using them for suicide bombs. Frankly my theory holds as much weight as yours. How much of any civilization would survive nuclear war and 250 million years?
Seriously, there have always been people screaming the sky is falling, and the end is near. If you're not religious, then you can't really support judgement day, so you support global warming. Despite your best concerns about global warming, we're still far more likely to kill ourselves by a new plague or nuclear war. Or maybe if you're being optimistic now, you'll hope for a huge plague or war to so drastically reduce the human population, that pollution will be reduced! Pick your panic. There are no guarantees in life. I think I'll just give my kids an extra hug tonight, and have a beer.

Canuck
Rather than continuing down the Dem vs. Rep road, let's discuss the merits of BHO's proposals.
Take overs of the financial industry? Do you agree?
Bailing out failed businesses, partly on the grounds that they are too big to fail? Do you agree?
His budget, in general?
His proposed private insurance for the military, payed for by the individual?
Cap and trade?
There are other things, like his gaffe-a-minute flurry this week, embarrassing use of the teleprompter, factual errors, diversionary tactics on the economy...
This is where the conversations should go. It has everything to do with his well-stated ideology, not so much about his party. The Republicans, of whom I am not a member, are at the very least complicit in these gross moves towards nationalism and socialism.
Canuck
Were you ok with ACORN employees rounding up people and taking them to the homes of AIG employees to stage FAKE protests?
Are you ok that Geithner, last September, orchestrated the details of the AIG buy?
Are you ok with this knowledge being in the President's hands and him lying about the real financial problems? (That most of the billions poured into AIG went overseas...at the knowledge of all.)
Are you ok that BHO has ginned up the anger over bonuses and this has contributed to the awful treatment of AIG employees?
She ends her piece with this: "How come I, a regular employee of AIG, underpaid by industry standards, who works 9-5, did not work for the Financial Products division and did not get a bonus, have to be on the lookout for threatening figures outside our building?"
Answer: The MSM not doing its job and BHO not standing up for the little guy.
What questions did you not understand that you want to ignore and divert attention from?
Canuck, many Americans wanted change and a different Pres. No disagreement there. However, MOST Americans did not have the rabid hatred for GWB that you do, nor did they bargain for a socialist and the people he is appointing. It is becoming very clear, despite the media's best efforts, that serious buyers remorse is setting in.
Further, all presidents inherit the ups and downs of their predecessors...like GWB inheriting Bill Clinton's recession. I don't recall anyone taking it easy on Bush because he got what he got. Only fools believe the President can make or break the economy...right now, a lot of fools are suggesting that BHO can, by his magic touch, fix ours. This political clout he has is about to bankrupt our country and a few generations of Americans.
22 percent disaproval does not equal rabid hatred. Never has. You would like it so. Just like not beliveing in a God puts you in a minority, but that does not mean non believers hate God...just you.
So, BHO has the nreve to suggest that Wagoner resign? King Obama? Where is your outrage, Canuck? Since when is it even within BHO's realm of opinions? (Oh yeah, since the gubmnet bailouts.)
Hey, you guys are the ones who have always hated the powerful getting too much power right? Well, how does it feel now...a sitting president, acting as a king, telling big companies how to run them selves.
I notice they didn't suggest these policy and personnel changes BEFORE driving the dumptruck full of bailout bucks to their front doors.
Responsible, huh?
You like the Constituition so much...where did the POTUS get this authority?
Well, it's quite simple, my deluded, flag-waving, selectively-ignorant friend:
If this CEO (and those like him) want to grovel and beg for taxpayers money to help them out AND CANNOT come up with any viable outline as to how said taxpayers money will be protected and invested....then....it's up to the guardian of taxpayers money to tell this SONOFABITCH HE'S FIRED!
Could you ever see Georgie-Boy firing one of his corporate buddies, even after they screwed over the taxpayer? Uhhh...no. I don't think so.
Whatsamatter, Stream-O? Don't oike someone who actually gives a shit about your tax money?
Hey, I agree that they should not have received a penny of bail ot money.
However, your hypocricy looms large here. GWB probably would not have fired any of them. So what? That does not answer the larger question: Since when does a POTUS fire private business personnel?!
Really. This is stifling as to be embarrassing. It is both principly unsound and practically unsound. BHO now attempting to manage private industry. He has never held a private sector job!
So, a POTUS with zero experience in the private sector is now openly using communist rhetoric to upend the auto industry and the financial industry. And, you support it.
It is now a matter of record, Canuck. It is not the principles involved, it is who administers them.
Soooo, will you be so supportive of the POTUS running industry if a righty is in office? Or, will you raise the spectre of Constitutional authority...again?
If Glumbert really is dead bug, I shall miss you more than any bloated woodtick I have ever removed from my old dog. You just charm the pants off me with your witty banter.
When I first came to Glumbert, I had this theory that Germans are known around the world for their lousy sense of humor and extremist political thinking. Thanks for proving that for me.
Regarding the whole economic situation I first have to say that I really want to see quite a few people prosecuted. It will be tough so to get the worst ones, their contracts usually have set no real goals, so you can not get them for not meeting them.
The whole thing is really fucked up. Just letting everyone go bankrupt will result in major collateral damage. There are thousands small and medium comnaies which depend on the large ones like GM and Chrysler, they would go down due to no failure of their own and their falling will topple others again. This could easily lead into a complete crash.
I don't really want to be in the shoes of Obama or other leaders of industrialized nations right now. No matter what you do there will be lots of people who think it is wrong, and in any case it will be unfair towards someone. Bail them out and the incompetent idiots who caused the mess will get their bonuses paid, don't bail them out and hundereds of thousands of people will be out of a job.
And, yes, I think if the governments give money to large corporations they have every right to demand to have the planks removed. And in return for the money the countries should get shares of the companies, so the investment can be returned once the companies run again.
For the record:
I have no problem with bankruptcy and restructuring. The worries that this will destroy other businesses is a myth. The restructuring part takes care of a lot of that. Furhter, if they cannot stand...they should fail. If the legacy costs of doing business at GM bury it, so be it. We have a deep and unhealthy fear of failure and pain. Pain, failure and the fear of those two are great motivators when one's back is against the wall.
I disagree that the gubment, via the presidency, can dish out bail ot money and then be the arbiter of how it is spent. That is patently unethical and unfair. If the gubment wants to do that, put those attached strings in the bailout FIRST. Do we really want decisions for the idustries being bailed out made by people who know absolutely nothing of their operation? Are we really going to flush it all over bonuses? Legal and contractually obligated bonuses?
It is foolish and many people in the States are rightfully scared of the soft tyranny that is developing. It is the precedent (and the president) that is particularly disconcerting.
Wow the Gods of science may yet save us from ourselves. Not a practical generator, but its a good sign for the future.
Scientists say they have achieved small-scale nuclear fusion in a tabletop experiment, using tried and true techniques...: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7654627/
Mr. Fusion is getting ever closer to reality. But be careful what you wish for. Right after mankind discovers the ultimate cheap nuclear fusion generator, some Achmed McGyver will discover how to build a fusion bomb from pop cans, moth balls, seven-up, and some rusty nails.

HD - restraint is my normal mode. "aliasharasser" evoked my eruption as I have long wished someone...no, EVERYONE...to rebuke this diaper stain for his unremitting effluent. Perhaps others might join in the effort.
However, I have always believed ignoring this sort of suppurating boil serves to deny it the recognition it seeks, and it eventually will wilt and pass as all offal does. I therefore have contradicted my own thoughts...but it felt good...and I'll try not to do it again.
Chaz
I have opted for the ignore-him-because-he-is-irrelevant tactic.
If you periodically respond like that, I might re-think.
That was both funny and on-spot.
So since Glumbert hasn't uploaded a new video since last Friday, can we assume Glumbert is now officially dead?
How about a survey of other interesting forums some of you visit?
I used to frequent Military.com current events counterpoint forum until that got old, then Ummah.com as Tomcat (but I kept getting banned for pissing off their Muslim sensibilities)
Now maybe I need to go searching for another forum to upset ignorant people?
We should just make a Freewebs forum for all the Glumbert users already. I should look into that. If I could do something, would anyone here be interested in using it? As far as resources go, there is, as mentioned, Freewebs, and there's also something I've heard about called Wordpress... There's possibilities.
redshift, canuck's gay lover. they met in krispy kreme's ottawa branch and having been sensitive with each other since. it's a love story, albeit a dirty bender one.
Looky here, oh it's manolo or whoever....i smell quantint, you spanish cony, are you living in England living off benefits, why don't you fuck of back to third world spain , Barcelona are having another good season you shithead, oh and i fucking love liverpool, what was the score the other week, you piece of fuckhead. you're the weakest man i've read on here, now fuck off.
By the way when have labour been socialist, you fucking degenerate, are you a tory boy, there's no fucking difference you cony.
right, time to go get the shopping...and catch Hamilton beat alonso again, another twat
1. What's a 'cony'? 2. "By the way when have labour been socialist" - errr, since it's inception by Keir Hardy - "The Party grew out of the trade union movement and socialist political parties of the 19th century, and continues to describe itself as a "democratic socialist party". 3. I'm not a Tory. I'm a Libertarian. VOTE RON PAUL! 4. I agree, Hamilton is a twat. Go Jenson! 5. I shit on your mother who washes the skidmarks out of your pants.
I had a new theory over the weekend, that perhaps Glumbert is on hold while the flashplayer 10 update is rolled out. But probably over-optimistic. Can't Glumbert get some federal stimulus dollars to continue supporting Obama's message?
A lot of ironies in that little ditty.
I have seen it before, too.
Separating church and state never meant the removal of all things religious from the public forum. This is why the freedom of religion and freedom of speech are mentioned separately, in the same Amendment.
I didn't read anything about talking snakes in there.
I saw the correlation between the removal of morality/God from a particular public forum "coincides" with an increase in social ills and using a faulty logic to arrive there.
"I saw the correlation between the removal of morality/God from a particular public forum "coincides" with an increase in social ills and using a faulty logic to arrive there. "
Sad but true. Religion should not be banned from school, when so much other immoral crap is allowed. They have friggin gay/lesbian/transgender awareness days in school, but they can't allow bible-study? Yes it ok to respect others rights to whatever fucked up sick shit they're into, but we can't be respecting others rights to freely express their faith?
Well unless they're Muslims in the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport, then we fucking bend over backwards to allow these terrorist sympathizers to have special rooms to freely praise the God of terrorism.
You don't get it both ways Canuck. You can't eradicate Christianity in the name of enlightenment, yet pretend to respect peoples rights.
That's why I'm not a good Christian. Turn the other cheek my ass! An eye for an eye works better for me.
How can you expect me to argue with someone who says I said something that I DIDN'T SAY??? (e.g. "You can't eradicate Christianity in the name of enlightenment")
You both have a nasty habit of doing that, y'know.
Maybe when you BOTH get serious about reading what I write AND quoting me PROPERLY....I'll get serious about responding with some genuine and sincere retorts.
"Hey...Red River causing your pants to rise? "
Not near me, I'm on the side of MN. But I did recently read that something like 500 out of 30,000 people there had flood insurance, this after a flood in 97. Real fucking nice, lets just all depend on the feds for free bail-out money! If you live in a flood plain, there should be free capitalism for mortgage companies to require you to buy flood insurance, or suffer your own fate. This is not a lack of sympathy, this is demanding people take responsibility for themselves.
"You're right......people DO have a 'right' to be ignorant and effing dumb. "
Absolutely, people have a right to support Obama! But the belief is immaterial, it is your right. And you can't pretend to support the US constitution while openly suggesting it's ok to take away others rights that don't interfere with your rights.
"How can you expect me to argue with someone who says I said something that I DIDN'T SAY???"
You have said many times, you want to eliminate organized religion. People have a constitutionally protected right to the organized religion of their chosing.
"You both have a nasty habit of doing that, y'know. "
You never took anything I wrote out of context now did you? :-o At least I try to accurately capture your meaning.
Is it that we don't grasp what you say, or that you don't like what you see when we mirror your thoughts in the open? Perhaps you're not explaining your thoughts clearly?
I'm absolutely fine with not forcing religion on students, but you can't go denying students their right to worship. Now if you want to take religion outside school hours, certainly outside tax dollar funding, I'm ok with that.
But if you ban religion in public schools, then you damn sure better do it fairly. No Muslim charter public schools. Also no gay/lesbian/transgender groups in school, no meetings of any kind teaching diversity and tolerance on the public nickel, that's what you want right bug? Or are religious studies subject to special persecution and discrimination?
Bug-
Not even a religion class? Or, discussion of religions in other classes?
I think that religion is forbidden because some people are afraid that other people might see the merits of one religion over another. The operative word being "afraid."
This explains why the thought nazis don't want aything but straight Darwinian Evolution in school. If DE was so true and absolutely obvious, why not have a section or discussion on alternative explanations, if for no other reason than to show our young skulls full of mush the correct ways of thinking and how we arrived at this enlightened position? Fear, that's why.
It is one thing to not force a particular religion, in thought and practice, on our kids. It is quite another to remove all dialogue about God, religion and man's spiritual nature from the school rooms.
Those who oppose suppress freedom of thought and expression and create an orthodoxy that perpetuates this restricted thinking.
As for me, get it on the table. We learn much in our young lives that we spend decades reconciling. Just look a the diversity of opinion here and no one has been monolithic in their beliefs all their lives.
Of course, the Christian Hizbollah would like to teach their ID bullshit in school.
I don't think any religious group should be granted access to public schools, if they want to teach their bullshit they should run their own schools and not do it on the taxpayers money.
Bug
There already are schools like that and they are, in general, better schools because of their freedoms. Wouldn't it be good, in the great Western tradition, that our kids were taught to think and not just regurgitate the indoctrinational line.
People who were not afraid of the infusion of religion in their lives and in their societies: Socrates, Buddha, Newton, Kant, Galileo...
Somehow, amidst their unenlightened times, these people flourished no matter what they thought of God or religion.
What are you afraid of?
I know, that someone will leave the school systems and arrive at their place in life...thinking like me.
Surely not afraid of the fairy tales religions are. If there is anything in religion I am afraid of it is fanatics.
But religion in itself is nothing I am afraid of, I am just disgusted by it and by how stupid humans can be. It is just one big waste of time and resources.
If the various religions want to teach their religious beliefs in the facilities funded by the tax base, then what are all of those tax free churches, temples, ect for?
The only reason for wanting to bring religion under government sponsorship is money. Not enough money is flowing through those tax free buildings, so lets convert the children in a place where they are REQUIRED to attend.
The dark beast of religion needs money and power, and its fuel is always children.
Streamy: Children are easily manipulated, some of them never recover from religious indoctrination as is evident in your person. I as a parent don't want my son to be indoctrinated by one church or another.
No, I stated this before, I did give up any hope that Streamy will ever become anything like a reasonable person, when I am contradicting him I do that for the education and amusement of the more reasonable audience.
C - Nope. It does exemplify the power of conservative media to program its followers though. I'm no longer poking with the stick, but sometimes I'm unwilling to let Rush's rangers reiterate his talking points.
OB.....interesting post from you......serves as evidence that many have real lives that belie their site names.
Stream may engage here....for me, I'll leave it that, while I believe there is a supreme being, no one else has to do so. But in fact, many do...perhaps even the majority, if only an accurate poll might confirm. But we as a people have fashioned laws that marginalize this factor under the premise that "church" and "state" must be emphatically separated. This has given rise to the noisome chorus that we hear from the non-religious minority.
I do not want to offend them. But, now, somehow, we have managed to make laws that allow them to offend me. And others in the majority.
1. Ramon has an AK-47 with a 30-round clip. He usually misses 6 of every 10 shots and he uses 13 rounds per drive-by shootin. How many drive-by shootins can Ramon hit before he reloads?

Manolo, is that it, you sound alright, can we be friends. New labour are far from Socialists. You're liberal, most liberals are from privileged backgrounds, they have their parents as a safety net. Are you quantint, why are you so angry? are you ok, i know a number you can ring.
Streamy
I'll tell you what's happened to the once Great Britain;
It became lazy, complacent, ignorant, arrogant, what else would you expect from a country built on colonial slave trade finance, it deserves everything it gets. We're nearly as fat as you lot in america, our health service is a joke, our welfare service a target for free loaders, teenage pregnancies the worst in Europe. we are scum and yet i love Britain, it's green country side, it's deep history, its sunny weather, it's painfully polite people, it's beautiful women (one or two). God bless Britain. (But it's a shithole)
By the way i live near a town where Thomas Paine lived, his old house is up for sale, see link;
As for the green issue, come on man, do you really believe man has had no ill effect on this planet, come on man, look at us, we are a stain on this beautiful planet. We don't deserve this planet, and soon i believe the planet will gentle then abruptly finish with man, karma with the planet makes karma with your soul, i ain't no hippy , it just makes senes.
I smell what you are cookin', Skids.
One can only become pathologically lazy and complacent through one route: No need to be otherwise. When all or most basic needs are provided from outside, then it removes the need for one to get their own by their own means. (Remember the story posted some time ago about the wild pigs being corraled by farmers who simply started putting corn in a pile and then building a fence around the pigs.) Don't necessarilu agree with this being tied directly or causally to colonial slave trade as the slave trade in GB was ended 250 years ago...but, I do agree that we get what we deserve. Or, as I prefer to phrase it: we reap what we sow.
It is one thing to say we are not comprehensively destroying our home, which is what I am saying. It is another to say we are not having an ill effect, which is NOT what I am saying.
Predicated on a few principles:
-The Earth is not fragile.
-The damage we do is largely local in nature and can be fixed as such. (we do so routinely. The air quality and water quality in North America is vastly improved since the 70's due to active measures locally...measures that continue to this day and are, by and large, free market driven. Not all, but many.)
-The Earth has experienced extremes of all orders that have been caused by no actions of man.
-Computer models do not equal fact. Predictions do not either.
I do belive if more people had to manage a corner of land, they would appreciate it more.
Hey Streamy, i'm not daft enough to think that there's not more to this earth than just the physical, but that's something that's been touched on a fair bit here, to say the least..have a nice weekend.
Hey Canuck how's the no smoking going, i gave up new year, still tough now i can now see have stupid smoking was, it's madness, the high is from coming back to normal, just utter madness, well good luck, it's very simple, just don't smoke
Neither can you backup anything you write about "God" Stream? Please Don't recite scripture to me, when all that was written and put in the book Of God Was put there By sinners! Who in picking and choosing what was to be read, left out certain writings that the "Commission" did not see fit or thought better then have their own word challenged by what might Have been the truth?
Sinners, each and everyone one of them caught in a sinn just by conveying their ridiculous "opinions" on Gods True word,And covering up the message Jesus The Nazarene had put forth! It's real Funny(weird not ha ha) That to this day no actual words from this man have ever been recovered yet it seems that whatever power in charge at the time could muster up some gospel here or there to fill and produce quiet the Volume ? The true blasphemers are those who pretend to know the word of God Yet when they spew their vile words the truth be known for whom they truly represent!
Freedom of speech is a tricky thing my friend.
Terrorist use our own laws against us as would the Wolf dressed in sheep's Clothing? You say if we deny the religions their say in public school then we deny them their basic rights of our laws? Then How about letting White Supremacists have their official say as well,or Hamas and their message of "Death to Israel" ,Should these also be allowed vocal platforms in our PS's or in our government ?
I am a sinner Broken at birth, multiplied in sin from an ever sinning world!
I make no qualms about my situation, in fact I swim in my spiritual imperfection, knowing all the Time GOD loves me unconditionally!
If I appear to be a bit sanguine in my attitude with my relationship w/God it's only because I've worked on it unabatedly for sometime now.
God and myself have come to this apex, and made our own covenant, not to long ago.
peace right back attcha Stream, and everyone else who writes their words!
The reason it should be kept out of public forums is that foolish people use it to their advantage, to better their own position in life! People(most anyway) Can't handle God,or the concept of God or Gods true meaning? They take what they "think" they know and wield it like a ocd Child who's out of riddlin.
The Government is aware of this also, and this is one reason why they have tried to keep these two separate. the other is they don't want to share power with anyone either.
People should be able to worship any God of their choice as long as they're not truly infringing on others rights,Problem is that happens all to much. A person starts to harmlessly go about praying ,then is joined by another then some moron gets a notion that they need to step it up and blow up an abortion clinic?
People just don't get the God thing,They're to easily sidelined from the true meaning of the message and can't understand, or wont understand anyone else's beliefs are just as important to them?
People such as Oral Roberts, Pat Robertson, Louis Farakan and a Rabbi here and there add a few others from other Religious movements, take them right there on the spot and shoot them in the back of the head, right behind the ear with a 22 cal hollow point long range round. Religion is a bad thing and always has been from day one, The little good it's produced is seriously outweighed by the Harm it's caused over a few thousand years. Christ Never Had a Church, or a religion,Man Fucked up his words as best they could and watered down the true message of the this man.
The message is so simple, but none of us Knuckleheads can ever achieve ,or for some of us even begin to practice that message?
LOVE! Hell, I hope to try it some day soon. No? Or, is that a bit extreme?
Fartknocker
(I have never actually typed that word and trying to make a serious point seems to be diminished after typing "fartknocker". Keeps this all fun, though.)
You may wish religion and God to be removed from the public forum, but you do so at the expense of freedom of speech. There is no American tradition, beyond the last 50 years, that supported religion being removed from public forums. This includes schools, businesses, towns, Congress...you name it, it has been there.
There is no basis to conclude that people who pray together naturally arrive at blowing up abortion clinics. When Stalin strved millions, on purpose, he did not get there via prayer with others. When Dahmer systematically stalked and killed his victims... When the unabomber... I could go on. Those who advocate blowing up abortion clinics and then act on it are not acting on Christian doctrine and may be nuts. It is unrelated to the topic at hand. Suggesting that the founders were avoiding religious lunatics in public by keeping a gubment out of individual religious practices is silly.
Your solution: shoot the Pat Robertson et al...isn't that like blowing up an abortion clinic? You know, just kill the opposition, right? You must be no different in your extremism.
Then you say: "Religion is a bad thing and always has been from day one, The little good it's produced is seriously outweighed by the Harm it's caused over a few thousand years. Christ Never Had a Church, or a religion,Man Fucked up his words as best they could and watered down the true message of the this man."
You cannot back up any bit of this. It is all false.
Jesus had no church or religion?! He did have the Temple, as a Jew. He instructed the disciples (It's called the Great Commission) to go out and tell the story, thus establishing churches. This includes Paul.
I do agree that Jesus set the bar high and requires sacrifice, submission and Love. But that is not a reason to avoid the message or deny what it is.
Shit! Hate when that happens?(posting twice takes the coolness away) LOLOL!!

That might just be about the most serious and intelligent thing I've ever heard you say. Although I'm not sure Oral Roberts, Pat Robertson, Louis Farakan, and assorted Rabbis are guilty of conspiracy to commit murder.
Don't worry about it Knocker. Posting twice...some may need to hear it twice. :)
Couple of points:
Of course I can back up an enormous amount of my claims about God. Which one do you say I cannot back up? I will be glad to support any of them on a number of grounds. I meant to be very specific about your claims.
If I choose to use scripture, I will do so. Rejecting it out of hand on your part is part of a number of logical fallacies...among them: that because it was written some time ago and/or by sinners it is rendered false/unreliable, etc.
Why?
If there is a God who has revealed himself to man, why would biblical scripture be removed from this discussion? Your argument renders all historical or antiquated texts useless; and, we know that many of them are reliable, including the Bible.
I understand many people's concern about the books in the Bible. I would suggest an overview of their reliability and how the canon was developed before rejecting it out of hand. I have a hard time believing that God would send Jesus as the example and sacrifice and then, in a capricious manner, leave the books of the Bible solely to chance.
It is not true that no actual words of Jesus were recorded. Luke, among others, claims to be an eyewitness to Jesus' life and what he said. The dating of the texts and the reliablity of the transcriptions suggests it is so. It is hard to say that, on the one hand, there was a covering up of Jesus' message...while on the other, we have no recordings of his words. How can this statement be made?
Your argument ultimately suggests that there is no real way of ascertaining Jesus' message. Is this what you believe?
Freedom of speech is not so tricky, Knocker. Yes, allow Hamas to speak. Allow the White Supremecists to speak. This keeps them out in the open and the arguments availed to everyone. (Encitemnet to riots, notwithstanding.) If Hamas could put together a club at PS 97, then so be it.
I simply do not see why religion/ God is the topic that is verboten. (actually, I do understand; I am just pointing out the obvious.)
I am glad to hear you say that you are a broken human and sinful in nature. We all are. That is the reconciliation everyone will have to have: what to do about it.
I hope you have found Peace and Love in your relationship with God. That is all I have ever found there. (In me, i found awful, awful things. Just not in Him.)
Take care, Fartknocker
hahaha...I can't seem to let it go. The Beavis/Butthead in me comes out.
oh, and one other certainty i nearly forgot.
if there is a god, he doesn't want a stupid prick like canuck believing in him, so i guess he's at least happy on that front.
I need to post something here because the Q has a habit of chilling discourse. Many its past deposits seemed to have the effect of ending the thread altogether, as if the saner posters wished to avoid contamination by having their words too close to its own refuse.
So.....fartknocker, you need to chill a bit. Seems you're a bit tight on your view of religion. I think all the world's religions have had their share of misbegottens. While we know more about them than of the normal practicioners of their respective religions, they are seldom if ever taken to be characteristic of their belief systems. Bad news always travels faster...and farther....than mundane normal life stories, I think.
Lastly, I do not know Canuck nor his wife, but what little one can glean from the exchanges here suggests both are normal to above average members of the human race, something that no one might deduce of Q from his septic sentiments.
Q - have you stopped scratching yourself to bleed? Has you mom's obstetrician refunded her money for aiding in your breach into life? Do you know your dad? Does your mom? Do you need GPS to find your dick? Is it true that you use your dandruff as a spice? Do you use both hands to write? Do crayons still form one of the food groups in your diet? Are you still convinced that nose hair is sexy? In your mate? Do the pitchforks and torches outside bother your sleeping? Are you tired of being threatened with crosses and garlic bulbs? Do you remember how it was to bathe regularly? Have you actually ever bathed regularly? Do you mean to start anytime soon? Do you have a woman for a wife? Does your wife prefer other women? Or does your mate prefer other women? Other men?
Anyone other? Anything other? Do you?
Another keyboard excercise after which we may all scrape the Q residue from our shoes.
"Lastly, I do not know Canuck nor his wife, but what little one can glean from the exchanges here suggests both are normal to above average members of the human race, something that no one might deduce of Q from his septic sentiments."
Actually, we have fooled all of you.
In reality, we are the vanguard of an inter-galactic alien force who are preparing a list of Earthers to be used as slave-labor once the invasion is complete. Under The New Way Of It All, ALL females will be physically enhanced and will outnumber the males 3-1. Also I, personally, will be taking over as the Regional Governor of the entire eastern half of what was once known as North America which will instead be called "The Land Of Our House In The Middle Of The Street".
I was thinking more of that 80's tune, "Our House". You know....."Our house...in the middle of the street....our house....in the middle of the street...."
But still there is nothing wrong with nuclear energy, not even if 1000 years (average time between two major accidents) pass in just 7 years. We are now excessively safe from the next accident, which will happen no sooner than 1900 years from now....
I agree with cockroach. I interned at the Prairie Island Nuclear plant. I remember after a planned maintenance outage, the NRC wouldn't let them restart the reactor (1 of 2) until after they satisfied an NRC complaint. The complaint went as follows:
In the event of a major earthquake, in MN, resulting in the water level of the Mississippi river dropping over 10 feet, to the point that the nuclear plant could no longer draw in river water for reactor coolant, (of course this happened instantly) would the reactors have adequate coolant to perform a safe emergency shutdown.
Absofuckinglutely ridiculous! This is the beaurocratic bullshit that passes for the nuclear regulatory commission, and why nuclear power is so expensive. This plant has operated since the 70s, yet uses antiquated analog computers, because its so difficult to get approval to update anything.
Also, those outside nuclear waste storage casks they use, it was an engineering nightmare to monitor any accidental leaked radiation, since natural environmental radiation is like 2-3 orders of magnitude higher. Like trying to hear a mouse fart next to a 747 on take-off.
I would have no concerns if they want to build a nuke plant near my home. Cheap green energy, dump the waste in Canada. =D
Seems like you misunderstood me there significantly.
Fission power is a big mistake and extremely costly for a nation to use it. The only way to make money with nuclear power is to socialise the costs for waste storage.
And I am not yet talking about the risks of accidents...
While I agree the storage of nuclear waste is a problem, it would be a manageable problem, if people weren't so ridiculously overconcerned about the effects of radiation. Store the shit in Yucca mountain. If there would be a radiation leak, it is possible to clean it up. Most radiation is encapsulated in glass or is lower level waste. All would eventually be entombed in salt, which is environmentally stable for millions of years. The risks are manageable. Radioactive waste can be and is cleaned up on a regular basis. I'm not talking about the highly radioactive and explosively widespread waste of Chernobyl.
That entire Chernobyl accident could have been avoided had the Russians not been too cheap to build containment domes over their reactors, or used non-flammable neutron absorbing rods (we use Cadmium, Russia used flammable Graphite) to emergency stop the chain reaction, or simply not been experimentally screwing around.
With proper reactor design, nuclear fission reactors are very safe. Again, I agree storage of fission waste must be carefully controlled, but is manageable.
And while I also think nuclear fusion would be far preferable if economical and possible, we aren't there yet. But when we do discover cheap economically nuclear fusion, we won't be able to stuff that genie back in the bottle once its released, and it could very easily be used for evil purposes.
HD, any system designed to work flawless will fail at some point. It is a delusion to think a 100% safe system can be constructed.
The advanced technology did not work that well in preventing the Three Mile Island incident. It did neither for the numerous acidents with French reactors. There have been issues with German reactors leaking radioactivity (and I guess you are not going to accuse Germany of poor engineering skills).
Regarding storing the radioactive waste in salt: Look up what is currently going on in the German storage facility "Asse". Not exactly millions of years. Now you may point out that the structure was flawed to begin with, but a geological fact is that all salt formations do have the same problem, they are formed in geological active areas and it is always only a question of time until they start to leak.
"it would be a manageable problem, if people weren't so ridiculously overconcerned about the effects of radiation"
Aha...
I have to assume you are very much unfamiliar with the physical and biological facts of radiation. This is almost in the "duck and cover" category.
"any system designed to work flawless will fail at some point. It is a delusion to think a 100% safe system can be constructed."
True, but that doesn't mean it will catastrophically fail either. This is some of your wish for the worst thinking, like you have with global warming. How do you even drive a car? Aren't you afraid you'll crash at high speed, burst into flames, and slowly roast to death?
"The advanced technology did not work that well in preventing the Three Mile Island incident."
This was caused by a series of human errors, which have since been prevented. However, radiation leaked was very limited. It was an incident, hardly a disaster. It caused no harm, long term, or to people.
"It did neither for the numerous acidents with French reactors. There have been issues with German reactors leaking radioactivity (and I guess you are not going to accuse Germany of poor engineering skills)."
How many people have been harmed from these accidents? (German engineering is no better than US.)
Asse has groundwater flowing in to spread the radioactive leakage. Yucca was chosen because its in a desert, with no groundwater flow for millions of years. There is nothing geologically active about Yucca.
"I have to assume you are very much unfamiliar with the physical and biological facts of radiation. "
As a former military member and employee of a nuke plant, I am quite familiar with the effects of radiation. They are horrendous, at dangerous and prolonged exposure levels. But short of Chernobyl, any exposure to leaked radiation should be low level and short lived.
Trained to understand and deal with the risks, without being unreasonably scared of the unknown. Everything in this life is scarier if its foreign to you. Many are terrified of words like radiation, cancer, plaque, religion and sure these things can kill you. But if you understand the risks, preventative steps, treatments, and survivability rates, they become much less scary.
Consider this bug, how many people in the history of the world have died from radiation poisining? Feel free to factor in Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Chernobyl. You're probably still under 1 million people.
Which one kills more people, cars or nuclear energy? Which one pollutes the environment more? Which one is more likely to kill you or me this year?Maybe you should be railing against cars, instead of nuclear energy?
That's why I say people have an irrational fear of nuclear energy. It is extremely unlikely to kill you, as compared to so many more dangerous things we coexist with daily.
Howdy C, how've you been? So I see you quit the cancer sticks eh? Good for you! I was just talking to my Mom about a long time family friend that just died of lung cancer, it was a very sickening story to hear, about the last weeks of his life, and not an unfamiliar one. She also reminded me of my Grandfather who died of smoking induced lung cancer back in 77 and how horrible it was that it made her quit a 30 year, two pack a day habit cold turkey! Two years ago I lost a very close, life long friend to lung cancer. She too died an absolutely horrible death, leaving behind two pre-teen kids to a "not at home much" type father. It was the blood clots that first brought her down and put her in the hospital, where she wasted away in agony for 6 weeks! Even the morphine couldn't dull the pain, all along they just kept pumping in more chemo......just the most sickening scenario! The hopelessness, sorrow, regret, lost future (she was only 42) the heart break, those kids....
Two months ago, a good friend of mine's mother lost her battle with lung cancer, a great lady, one of my teachers in grade school. She was a life long smoker, diagnosed in January, given radiation and chemo, of which the effects made her look like she was 100 years old, she was optimistic though. They said they think they got it whipped and she had at least a year or two to live, she died two weeks later.
I wouldn't even want to see qlane go through that...it's THAT bad!
Stay with it C, if not for yourself, for your wonderful wife and kids AND friends. When your have that urge, think of them looking at you in that hospital bed, with all your hair gone, tubes sticking out of every orifice...and then some. Think of the fear, heartbreak, the helplessness they would feel, the loss. To divert your cravings go walk the dog, jog, hit the treadmill, YOU CAN DO IT!!
Look, I'm going to level with you: the reason I suddenly decided to quit was simply this: there was this gentleman I knew for many years who was a ranking Deputy Superintendant; we had an excellent working relationship and got along very well; so well, in fact, that he and I were always outside, having a smoke together. He bore an uncanny resemblance to Bruce Willis, both in terms of looks and personality, now that I think of it. We hadn't seen each other for about the last six years or so, what with each of us getting transfers and him going his way and me going mine. This past March 7th, he died of cancer.
And he was 51.
Now mind you, I've had a few mutual colleagues give me a hard time about this, saying "What, you needed to have a real face put to this to do something you shoulda done long ago??". Welllll....ya, I said. Sue me. It just made it more real, and for ME....that's the way it rolled. That's just the way it is.
Listen....I hope your ....brother-in-law? (I can't recall if that's the relationship) is doing okay. With the cancer thing, I mean. Any progress as far as beating it back with chemo? Radiotherapy? Anything? You know, in spite of the silly back-and-forth we've had with our wildly opposing viewpoints, I DO not wish THAT on anyone.
And if I could fix it for you...I would.
No one deserves THAT.
(Except for those on Death Row in a state penitentiary....or so I believe)
Thanks, Canuck
He's doing well and cancer free. However, he has not been able to produce his own red blood stem cells and is therefore staying on a number of medications that ostensibly keep him alive. His overall health is always in question, but the spectre of the cancer is now gone.
Thanks for asking.
A generation ago the distribution of income in the United States didn't look all that different from that of other advanced countries. We had more poverty, largely because of the unresolved legacy of slavery. But the gap between the economic elite and the middle class was no larger in America than it was in Europe.
Today, we're completely out of line with other advanced countries. The share of income received by the top 0.1 percent of Americans is twice the share received by the corresponding group in Britain, and three times the share in France. These days, to find societies as unequal as the United States you have to look beyond the advanced world, to Latin America. And if that comparison doesn't frighten you, it should.
For clarity...equitable does not mean equal. We should not under any circumstances desire an equal distribution of wealth.
Equitable...that's a different argument.
actually one of the the least equitable distributions of wealth occurs in russia (communist or otherwise, russia is a kleptocracy), moscow is one of the most expensive city to live in in the world, yet the average income of most russians is quite low ..... . i don't believe anybody argues that an equal distribution is possible or preferable ..... people should be paid what they are worth ... wealth doesn't trickle down but poverty will seep upwards. democratic countries often have a middle class. we are in danger of losing ours......
Point of clarity...Communist Russia circa 1960-1985: per capita income was very equally distributed...just well below western standards of poverty.
When the gubment takes a portion of the populations' income, redistributes it (Thus, devaluing it in the process), then the natural tendency will be towards the extremes with the middle class slowly creeping towards the bottom. Economists will argue how much has to be taken before the slide towards no middle class occurs, but the fact remains nonetheless.
This was the first, non-right wing arguments against the income tax.
It should be the current argument against what is happening now.
the truth is actually quite different .... from stalin to gorbachev the elite in russia lived very well indeed.... at the same time most of the population lived in poverty and fear... after the wall came down the situation actually became worse. the oligarchs (and their crime families) had unfettered access to the countries banks, markets, real estate and natural resources ....which they then promptly stole, cashed in and laundered .... they have since fled the country... the richest man in israel is one. others have taken up residence in the u.s and europe. .... when putin was the head commie he sworn to kill them if he got his hands on them and i don't blame him ... ...
.... do you know what got us out of the great depression? a vast pubic works project known as world war 2 ... apparently you actually can stimulate an economy by pumping money into it .... please don't presume to imply that i promote war .. far from it .... after reagans orgy of borrow and spend we invented our way out of economic catastrophy via silicon valley .... perhaps we can do the same with energy, embryonic stem cell technology etc. .... one thing is for sure tax breaks for the rich aint gonna do it.... like every other fukin republican idea from abstinence only to the invasion of iraq it's total bullshit....
by the way that was one hell of a budget proposal your guys came up with... no numbers just 19 pages of fluff ... right on.... keep up the good work
Chuck...you actually make a few of my points: That there was a very mathematically equal distribution of wealth in communist countries. A few at the top who managed the money and held it...and the vast majority of people kept in poverty. The math is clear: this is a very equal distribution, mathehatically.
Now Putin is one of them. Go figure.
Your assessment of the 80's is not entirely true. Marginal tax rates were cut and the gubment took in more money than ever as the economy boomed. It works every time. We all know what would happen now if tax rates were cut...capital gains included. BOOMTIME!
WW2 was not "the reason" we got out of the depression. We were on the way out before we got in. Gubment spending kept us in it with service programs and that useless rot. WW2 spurned contracts with private companies for sure...that is currently not the kind of spending suggesteed now.

The reason for this chaz is so many who follow these religions are so easily duped, and therefor when these miscreants rise to a level as to where they can cause real damage, and do so, sooner then later ,and all things come crashing down on their heads, and these very people and the Groups Hierarchy can blame the later?? No, sorry, not buying it! They have had more then a share in all this my friend.. It's out of control and has been since organized religion has been around.
Stream, I asked you not to "recite" Scripture to me,that's not dismissing it altogether?
Man does not now ,and never will know God as long as we where these bodies! The Bible was written as a guideline for man, full of story's meanings are parables, analogies and ment to be lessons in what to do and not to do? It's a book of laws,(commandments) many State and Federal laws hold 6,8,9 to the letter, which are also found in most countries too?
My point is simply that if you teach the bible to children in school, who will be there to translate it to them,You ? Or, God forbid,Me?
All you have is your opinion in how you interpret the bible. You believe you are also correct in your assessment. However, there are many scholars and so called "holy men" who'd disagree?
Now who's right? You? That would be a very brazen claim to say out of all these other people who study this (as well as yourself, if not more?) Could all be wrong?

I sometimes write to fast for my thoughts?
Stream, it is my belief the message of Jesus the Nazarene was that of Love, and in no uncertain terms "love your enemy" You Don't need a church to be with god,or have God's ear(so to speak)? God is in us all,and we need to just let God out through us to connect to The God that surrounds us.
God is omnipotent, all places all times, all at once! The most important place for us to be concerned with though,is the part of God which lives in us!
Take the Catholic Church for example,They tell millions upon millions of its followers that to be forgiven of your sins you must confess to their priests or otherwise God Ain't hearing it?? As long as this sinful lie is allowed to exist and the follower of this practice remain ignorant of the "truth" Then who can Blame a Sailor for his wanting to dismantle these Palaces of deceit!
Unlike Stalin, or any of his brethren,I'm not looking to wipe out God,for that's just silly? I'm looking to stop these Religions from avoiding paying taxes and then trying to play politics? Stop them from keeping the Poor full of fear and ignorance preaching about Some angry God that doesn't exist ?
"God is omnipotent, all places all times, all at once! The most important place for us to be concerned with though,is the part of God which lives in us!"
Y'know what?
You're an effing fruitcake.
And if you happened to live close by me, I'd effing slap you around just on general principle, for want of anything else.
Thanks, FK
I see your points better now. I appreciate what you are saying.
(Pay no real attention to Canuck. He hates God for some reason, and anyone who believes in Him.)
There are a couple of points to make about doctrine, since many of them are confused or glossed over.
We would need to discuss a particular biblical point to discern what is really contentious and questionable, and what is not. I think you may be throwing the baby out with the bath water when reducing the Bible to guidelines. Were the Bible as permissive as that, one's salvation would be less stringent, I suppose.
The Bible, through the Great Commission, demands establishments of churches. The early model would be the Temple. Churches were, early on, people's homes...hundreds and hundreds of homes. It even appears that Paul's letters were to a handful of people, not to entire congregations. I agree that one's salvation is not dependent on the formal attendance of church. However, one cannot not deny the strength one gains in a community of like-minded and accountable people, which is what the churches should be.
I am not as leary of religious people gaining power any more than non-religious people, at least not in America. The current culture is very hostile to overt religiosity, too much so, I believe. The pendulum has swung in the other direction, too far. There are already consequences.
You may believe that God is already in us and I would like to have more specifics on that belief. Early spiritualists believed the same thing and I think it is a potentially dangerous pathway. It specifically opened the door to the New Age movement which removes man's need to surrender his Will to God, if God isin fact already there. Just a thought for you, as I am making no judgment on your walk or your place with God.
I will reply in more depth, and I'll be more specific to which parts in the Bible I refer ?
Please check in?
As far as Canuk1963 , one Really only hates what one fears ,and one only fears what one does not understand ?
A little thing I like to tell my self in times of doubt. "though I walk through the Valley of death I shall fear no evil, For I'm the Baddest fucker in the Valley!"
"(Pay no real attention to Canuck. He hates God for some reason, and anyone who believes in Him.)"
Stream-O.....I'm gonna do something with you here, that I haven't done with you in a long while:
I'm going to be crude.
When the fuck are you EVER gonna stop fucking saying shit that I don't say? Huh? Like, seriously...are you THAT fucking stupid and clueless that you have to fucking lie and make up shit on this level?? Is that ALL you've got going for you? Between all of your fucked up rationalizing and your blatant horseshit about getting literally EVERYTHING I've said WRONG, it's a wonder you can fuckin' function on these boards at all.
Helldiver is the same fucking way: he can NOT get a single fucking thing right when he tries to quote me. Instead, he's too fucking busy watching John Wayne movies and forever-believing every war is WWII and every 'bad guy' is Adolph Hitler, and STILL gets every fucking thing wrong about THEM when he tries to make some vague point or comparison.
Now, have you got all of that?
besides, you can have all the conversations you want about your fucking Sky Wizard, and that's okay. But for ONCE......try to be correct in something I've said when you make a childish attempt to quote me.
Gawd, I'd say 90 per cent of the loons on the right are just plain fucking dumb. I wouldn't even give them the credit of saying their malicious or evil, because even THAT would take brains.
FK, if churches start paying taxes, then you can damn sure expect them to raise their political voices even louder. After all, it will become their right as a taxpayer...
"Helldiver is the same fucking way: he can NOT get a single fucking thing right when he tries to quote me. Instead, he's too fucking busy watching John Wayne movies and forever-believing every war is WWII and every 'bad guy' is Adolph Hitler, and STILL gets every fucking thing wrong about THEM when he tries to make some vague point or comparison. "
I'm just gonna chaulk this up to you badly needing a smoke, and I sincerely hope you remember your manners, or I'm gonna start talking about Hitler again.
Flea, are you familiar with the worship of the Flying Spagetti Monster? ;-)
The same guy who created this also sarcastically proves that global warming is caused by a lack of pirates in the world, proving that coincidence alone does not prove cause and effect.
I'm certain that we all know that a religion was created by a very poor science fiction writer who needed some quick cash, and tried to create a religion and was (Surprise) very successful.
As long as there are those willing to believe in magic and fantasies, then they will continue to exist, even when the magician explains the trick, and states there is no magic.
In 2000 years he will be the equivalent of Jesus, and His writings will be the word of God as well. Humans have a congenital defect in the comprehension of time.
Not punching holes in my logic, I'm not defending religion. I'm only defending people's right to believe and practice the religion of their choice freely, and concegrate in the church of their choice. I don't go to church. Some of you would try to forcibly eliminate religion from the world, believing you're doing the greater good by denying others their right to worship the fairytale of their chosing. Stalin tried to do that.
HD, I have no problem with people wanting to have their religion and going to their churches, as long as they do that without annoying others.
I do have a problem with people wanting to teach religion in school. And I do have a problem with people wanting to prohibit others from doing things well within the limits of civilized behaviour because they think it is a "sin".
And to make it clear: I think a crucifix on the wall of a school room is as misplaced as a school prayer room for muslims, or whatever else religious installation you may find within some schools and universities.
"We shouldn't spend a dime of tax dollars on religion" only means no religion should be taught in public education. That doesn't mean students are banned from praying, or forming their own religion clubs. Private education can do whatever they want. Muslim students are free to form clubs to, so long as we get an FBI informant in there.
Ahh yes.......canuck can't make a reasonable argument...soooo we go to threating quickly, among other traits associated to people with low intelligence. . . . no one likes you. . . . . they just like pissing on you. . . . and you make it soooo easy. . . . . . sad. .
Well , I've certainly never done harm to you, but if you feel the need to vent on posters then you're more then welcome to do so with this guy? Good luck to you in all things.
Sorry Mr. Obahafucur, As far as the venting comment, I was speaking to Canuck1963 and not to you? I find your commenting funny (along with most people here including Canuck1963,and hope you continue with your views no matter if they're opposed or not?
And YOU can shut the fuck up as well, you backwoods, swamp-running, catfish-sucking, buck-toothed, sawed-off, cover-all-wearing, sister-humping fucking inbred hillbilly-puke, you.
Streamo, It is a scientifically recognized fact (like global warming) that anyone who says "y'all" is in fact genetically prone to be a backwoods, swamp-running, catfish-sucking, buck-toothed, sawed-off, cover-all-wearing, sister-humping fucking inbred hillbilly-puke.
Whereas people who say "Yes we can" are either cartoon builders named Bob, or the second coming messiah.
I'm mailing out application forms to Miter, Goldie, Chaz, Pods, Surfer, Randall so they can petition EVERYONE in their respective states to apply and join the Dominion up here, and become brand new Canadian provinces. I mean, just take one look at the fucking fruitcakes and dolts above, and ask yourselves this question:
"Do I REALLY want to share a country (much less a continent) with the likes of THOSE ignorant, clueless, DUMB assholes, who are a fucking EMBARASSMENT to me?"
Apply now.
I'll fast-track it, I swear.
Afterwards, we'll take that fence you got right now in front of Mexico and move it north to the Mason-Dixon Line, thus separating the REAL fucking problem cases from the normal, educated types.
I rekon I'd sign yure pc o pahpur mr. c-......we dun hur in da souf wud jees piss oursulfs see-yun fence ya self in......shoo....wers it at? I gots me a righten stick
Well since you support the Union's cause to use torture and rape to protect the union's integrity during the civil war, I can assume the same logic would hold true today. Good luck to any wanting to suceed to Canada, not like the Canadian military will protect them.
Stream........you could git one in the State of Texas.........
No... I do not own a horse
yes...I do own weapons
no.....Do not belong to the Republican Party, and I ain't no cotdamned, limp wristed, salivating, bottom feeding, nipple sniffing, slime spewing Democrat either.
Still....it an old joke....thought I'd get it out fore one of y'all say hey, the only thing I here comes from Texas is steers an qu...err..um..really bad ass rodeo clowns! Fact. Sam Houston was not from Texas..Jack Cox is from Houston..so is Beyonce. Barbra Bush is not from here....but she does make her boys dress up like cowboys....
HAHA
I lived in Arizona years ago and when traveling back and forth I met a number of Texans. I asked them one time, "Why do y'all carry two guns? I mean, everyone has two guns on 'em."
The reply:
"Well, if you find yerself need'n a gun, you want one real bad."
I have no idea what to believe. Talk about contentious extremists...."the end of the world is coming but we can stop it if we act NOW!" ....as opposed to "the end is coming, someday, don't know when or how, but we can't do anything about it".
I like a conservative default position - the end is coming, and if we change certain things, we can delay it.
Few dispute the notion that the losses observed in our ozone cover are caused by emanations from the modern world....propellants and such. How can it be argued that man's other contaminations produced by all sorts of sources are not affecting our natural environment?
I have a non-technical education and history, so can not make technical determinations on my own...I rely on others with credentials in the relative skills. But they are incredibly polar in their positions. What's a poor, recovering English major to think?
Stream - did you notice on that same linked page the article regarding the abandoning of wind power efforts in Europe? Here on Cape Cod there is brewing a major controversy....a power generation company is pushing hard to establish a wind farm of some 130 turbines in Nantucket Sound, on federally controlled seas (shallow, closeby shorelines). Locals are alarmed because this is a tourist/vacation region prized for its (diminishing, regrettably) natural beauty. The banner they wave is environmentally neutral power generation, and how could one argue against that?
As one who is, on balance, more beauty oriented than pragmatic, I agree with the view that wind power is good, but siting is also a major issue...put them where they do not foul nature's exhibit of its beauty.
Thanks for the link.....as for global warming - I am still waiting for the uncontested answer. Meantime, conservative ideas are those I feel most comfortable holding.
Its not like half of Holland isn't below sea-level now. Can't we just give bulldozers and earth movers to all those economically depressed low altitude dwellers? Then they can build a marvel of the 18th century, called a sea-wall. They actually work, most of the time. New Orleans doesn't count. Although we could probably use something more modern instead of using little kids fingers to plug the leaks.
Chaz just bear in mind, that all the climatoligists that said there is no problem, are now out of work because they could not obtain federal funding to continue their research. You only hear one side of this story, continuously. And as Herman Goerring once said, "if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe you." I added that one just for Canuck, he loves Nazi references!
Chaz, very thoughtful position, in stark contrast to that of Streamy and HD. The major question in the global warming issue is: What are the consequences if the preditions are right and we continue like we had done for decades?
I don't see a contingency plan involving relocating to a planet without a climate system destabilized by human influence.
The other issue is that any nation continuing on the old path is stupid in doing so. Fossil fuel is running out and depending on it means to waste a lot of your GNP on imports.
Thanks, Chaz
I thought the article was very interesting. In many a scientific discussion, logic is left out. We heard for the better part of the last 20 years or so that the hole in the ozone was man-made. It was discovered in the late 40's I believe. It was assumed to be regulatory mechanism that expanded and contracted due to a number of reasons. No one remembers the non-political side of this, as HD points out, because it is difficult and almost impossible to receive funding dollars if there is not a crisis or problem. (Man has an interesting way of desiring his own power to destroy and then, on the other side of that coin, being the only possible fix to what he has destroyed or is in the process of, destroying. Psychology has a name for this: narcissism.) I wish more were as cautious as you.
Bug...I would suggest the major question is whether we are causing global climate change. Since that is not established.
No Streamy, the question is how stupid you want to be.
If you want to conduct a large scale experiment with a biosphere please find yourself another planet to do so. We do have exactly one sample available to study, plus a handful of incomplete data sets from neighbour planets that vary a lot from ours. Anyone who claims to know exactly what will happen is stupid, and anyone who claims that nothing can happen is naive.
Bug
Replace your snotty attitude with an unbiased approach and I might take what you say seriously. Were you to read what anyone has written, you will see no said exactly what will happen (except, of course, Al Gore and company) nor has anyone said nothing will happen.
So, as it stands right now, the global alarmists are the stupid ones and your alternative of naivete...not sure who they are.
We are already conducting a large scale biosphere experiment: it is simply living here. You have no earthly clue to what degree we are hurting our planet.
There you go again: No idea how badly we are hurting the biosphere.
And the resolution that comes from many indications that we may be hurting it badly is to just go on and see what happens?
Would you please be so kind and do that on your own planet, that is some planet on which I am not currently living? I kinda like the biosphere as it is right now and would be happy to know that it will stay more or less the same for the next couple generations at least.
The really funny thing is that the claims of how much it will cost to convert from fossil fuels to regenerative energies are just outright totally wrong. Converting to renewable energies is going to remove the requirement to import fuel, in most cases the requirement to buy any fuel at all. And with rising prices for raw materials anyone clinging to the classic burning of carbon based fuels will look really stupid. Or are the oil prices of last year are already forgotten?
"The other issue is that any nation continuing on the old path is stupid in doing so. Fossil fuel is running out and depending on it means to waste a lot of your GNP on imports."
Well frankly, this is a seperate issue, not entirely related to global warming. That's more of a national security and economics concern. However, current economics still say its far cheaper to pump energy out of the ground, then create it any other way. If your nation adopts more expensive domestic energy sources, that may make your nation more self-reliant, but not necessarily more globally competitive.
Natural capitalism will force energy sources to change as the price of oil rises, due to increasing cost, as we all witnessed last year.
"If you want to conduct a large scale experiment with a biosphere please find yourself another planet to do so. We do have exactly one sample available to study, plus a handful of incomplete data sets from neighbour planets that vary a lot from ours. Anyone who claims to know exactly what will happen is stupid, and anyone who claims that nothing can happen is naive."
What grasshopper says is true, and we can never know with 100% what will be the results of mankinds influence. What is known quite well already, is that when man attempts to fix a problem, without fully understanding it, he almost always FUCKS IT UP!
As I've pointed to before, dumping tires in the ocean to stimulate coral reefs, planning to dump iron in the ocean to soak up carbon, 70s planning to dump charcoal on the poles to prevent the coming ice age, releasing non-native species on new islands or continents for whatever reason, and the non-native species end up displacing and endangering the native species. Our history is full of man's good intentions that turn out badly.
Even bug has mentioned that if we cut off all pollution emissions tommorrow, that might end global dimming, and rapidly accelerate global warming.
Even if we fully understood the problem, if we could agree on global warming or global cooling for a few days, if we knew mankind was causing it, WE SURE AS HELL DON'T HAVE A FUCKING GLUE HOW TO REVERSE OR EVEN SLOW THE PROBLEM! How can you act without fully understanding the problem?
Besides, this Earth has endured many many cycles of climate change before, and will do so again. Global warming is not necessarily a bad thing, we just only hear the negatives. Yet global cooling is this horrible thing as well. How can both be so bad, I thought change is good?
"And the resolution that comes from many indications that we may be hurting it badly is to just go on and see what happens?"
Until we know what we're doing, yes.
"The really funny thing is that the claims of how much it will cost to convert from fossil fuels to regenerative energies are just outright totally wrong. "
And do you know this will end global warming/cooling, or just end global dimming and send Earth into global meltdown?
"Or are the oil prices of last year are already forgotten?"
Nope, US demand for oil is way down from last year, and falling.
No, I did not talk about "global dimming" due to pollution. And considering the amount of filtering that has been added in the last decades we should already see an effect of that.
Slow down of oil use is due to the recession. Or are you going to tell me that this is a trend due to thoughtful american citizens like yourself?
What is so cool about being such a lazy ignorant blob and clinging to old fashioned technology and thinking?
BTW: Iron fertilization of oceans for CO2 reduction has been put to the test by the Lohafex experiment. The result is that I would not recommend to invest in companies that intend to make money with the concept...
The interesting thing about climate change is that humans always generate a philosophy that they can live with, and to hell with the data. It is identical to the arguments for the past 40 years about the link between smoking and cancer.
No, Pods
It is the data that is not (a) agreed, (b) unbiased or (c) convincing.
If it is like the cigarette data then the those perpetrating the hoax are analogous to the tobacco companies.
I don't think you meant it that way.
But, why are we convinced climate change has only bad outcomes? As has been pointed out before, the Earth has seen wild swings in temps and other conditions. We haven't seen anything wild yet and predictions of massive swings are very much in dispute.
No one is suggesting we should not be stewards of this planet, Bug. But, if you can live a waste free life then you get to cast the first stone. Until then, you don't get to presume what I think about the environment beyond NOT believing in an eminent catastrophe.
Stream - "It is the data that is not (a) agreed, (b) unbiased or (c) convincing. If it is like the cigarette data then the those perpetrating the hoax are analogous to the tobacco companies."
"Slow down of oil use is due to the recession. Or are you going to tell me that this is a trend due to thoughtful american citizens like yourself?"
Continued slowdown of oil use is due to the recession. Immediate slowdown of oil use was due to $4 a gallon gas. Its all about economics, always has been, always will be. Economics will eventually force us all to some other fuel source, but not today.
"What is so cool about being such a lazy ignorant blob and clinging to old fashioned technology and thinking?"
This "old fashioned technology" (and what is old fashioned about drilling sideways for oil two miles below the oceans surface?) is both more effective and more cost efficient than any other existing power source. Wind and solar kinda need wind and sun to work, unless you just created the ultimate battery. What's so great about being a lazy ignorant hippy?
"The interesting thing about climate change is that humans always generate a philosophy that they can live with, and to hell with the data."
But in the 70s, scientists were convinced the next ice age was upon us. Thank God we didn't overreact to that and start dumping soot on the polar ice. Humans always misinterpret data without all the facts, and always see the sky as falling.
"No one is suggesting we should not be stewards of this planet, Bug. But, if you can live a waste free life then you get to cast the first stone. Until then, you don't get to presume what I think about the environment beyond NOT believing in an eminent catastrophe."
Wow ! Now THIS (recent posts above) IS ENTERTAINMENT !
Canuck....you didn't mention how your doing re: the butts....hope you're still on track.
FK....respectfully put notions. Don't agree, but that's the reason for vanilla and chocolate. BTW, I belong to that large group you suggest are deceived Catholics. I'm on the lookout for sailors in my church from now on...thakns for the tip.
Stream - always well spoken. Preachy, but well spoken.
Cman - man, you are ON your game ! Got the f-bombs dialed in and firing at will. (Are you a sailor, btw)?
We don't need no stinkin' Glumbert vids...we can amuse ourselves !
You've got too much time invested in this challenge....you do NOT want to waste that.
Besides, aren't you already feeling physically better? And doesn't calling yourself a "non-smoker" make you feel a step higher than the unenlightened?
You're probably drinking more coffee than usual...caffeine is another addiction, but a hell of a lot less hurtful. Drink up. Is your food tasting a bit more "perked" up? Man, this IS the way to go!
Re: "f-bombs".....basically, you're a good shit and so am I. I don't think of bombing you (or anyone else). Maybe it's a respect thing.
My use of the more crude vernacular IS restrained, even in private life....I just look at it as a too easy way to emphasize. Thinking of the emotion, searching for the word, framing ideas, all with commonly acceptable terminology....well, that's a challenge I prefer. But don't be nearby when I blam the hammer on my finger. Proof that I know all the words will ensue...much more satisfying for being rarely used.
NO SMOKES. You're done.
YOU ARE A NON-SMOKER ! Feels good, you must admit.
Makes no difference, HD....it's all amusement after all, with bits of warmth from one poster to another born of natural affection for common thoughts. You, for instance, present hardly an inviting moniker, so your posts are colored by that factor. Yet you emerge as a person who has given thought to the more heartfelt issues of life.
This sort of thing separates the interesting posters from the "rabble"...and one must admit, this site has really interesting posters. Podman, Canuck, Miter, Stream, Deb, Garbage, Skids, just to id a few who always add, always entertain or inform or agitate....I mean, why be here if all you want is to talk smut....these and many others add much. Chucknorris alone accounts for innumerable worthy links and ideas (though I must say I worry about his platform...hopefully it is truly care-oriented, and not mustering a revolution).
Man......I for the first time since being in this position (5yr) had to cut back everyones hours here.......been running two shifts, 12hrs, back to back, 5 days a week minimum. Down to ten's now. A few hours less for each man, but overall thats around 1000 less working hours in the shop..........hopefully I'm making a mistake, and pulling in the hours to soon. But I have deal with the realities in the order amounts...backlogs...that we have and can't count on the ones I've quoted and may or may not get...........Hope this is bad as it gets here.....
Perhaps it is possible that the present tenants here are making this site work despite the absence of videos, which, in large part, have been uninspiring anyway.
pod,
Thanks for the link! Super movie.... so eerie and weird, at least for the day it was made. Probably considered tame by today's standard. I might have to watch that again..... it would be most excellent on my home movie system..... gads! I don't even know if my husband has ever seen it!!
Good day people, interesting subject on the radio yesterday, the second biggest decision for your health, the first being not smoking, seems to be your omega 3 and omega 6 fat content, the ratio in your body should be 1 (omega 3) to 2 (omega 6).
Omega 3 = found in fish, Omega 6 = veg fat / nut extract, i believe.
There was a big increase of heart disease / cancer / mental illness/ modern illnesses/from the 50's onwards, which was due to the intruction of omega 6 in to our diets in the 20's and 30's.
May want to check your ratio out, some people have found to have ratio's of 1: 15, you need 1:2,
OK, since this video is stuck here for all eternity, I'll give you my "miter loves his guns"...just a practice session for me really. The goal of which is, at a fast pace, to hit paper at 12 feet, preferably within the outer circle. Now, I've kinda done this awhile, so I practice at 30 feet, not an easy deal with a .45 auto and a .38 snub (my carry tools) and if you can consistently put lead to paper at 30 feet....you got to pity the attacker at 12!
Checked out the Glumbert group on Facebook....interesting. May go that way if this site doesn't survive.
Isn't this where the doc and the intern start shouting for the paddles and the adrenalin?
"Glumbert has stopped breathing....check his pulse...DAMMIT GET THE CODE BLUE TEAM IN HERE.....YOU - GET THE DEFIBRILLATOR NOW ! YOU - LOAD A SYRINGE WITH ADRENALIN ! YOU - GET THAT BAG ON HIM AND BREATH FOR HIM. DAMMIT, WE'RE NOT GONNA LOSE HIM.......(heart monitor stops beeping and lapses into a long, uninterrupted small wail........) CLEAR ! (major electrical pulse and convulsion.....no change) CLEAR ! (another body contortion as the electrical charge impacts.....no change) DAMMIT, KEEP THAT BAG BREATHING........BRING ME THE SYRINGE (tensions grow as the doc hold the syringe up against the light - camera closeup here - presses carefully on the plunger to expell air bubbles, then feels with his other hand for the space between the upper thorasic ribs, places the syringe between his fingers and firmly thrusts it into the non-responsive heart of his patient). Then, once again, "CLEAR .... AND PRAY ... ".
Even now, as the doc repositions the paddles for a last desparate attempt ro revive this former faulted-yet-worthy life, the team shows the first signs of despair...few believe the patient will recover....few believe he will breath again....."CLEAR................" (the sound of another jolt....then silence..)
Since it got turned into a mini flame-war last time I asked, we'll just it it another go. Glumbert is basically at a point of worthlessness. Due to the fact that most users here are here for the social aspect, i.e. debates, warm, heartfelt conversations between Stream-O' and his good friends, and, as just mentioned, the senseless bashing. In order for everyone to bash in the relative comfort of a non-broken site, this one would need to be replaced. I looked into Wordpress, and I'm not sure it'd be my first choice. You've got Blogger and Freewebs, both of which would likely require less work and be easier to use. Somebody showed me a Facebook page, but I've long had it in my head that Facebook is almost as useless as MySpace. Anyway, enough. I think we're having BLT's for dinner, and I'm STARVED. I'm sure most of you know how bad the public school lunches are. [Excluding Manolo, who quite obviously never went to school.] Respond sensibly, because turning this one into a little flame war a second time would be entirely rude.
If you cannot get to Symantec, then it is likely you are infected, and you will have to find the FixDwndp.exe file from another site, or from a uninfected computer.
Why is it liberal treehuggers always use Macs, and conservative oil-burners always use PCs? Is this just one more example of how conservative oil-burners are smarter? Does this go against societal norms computer appeal to hippies? Or is it that Macs have completely dominated public education (by giving them away to lure children, much as drug dealers do), which is the source of most liberal treehugging thought? Maybe if you worked in the real world, you would learn to use a PC, which is the industry norm.
Know why Macs are more resistant to viruses? Because there's so few of them, its not worth anybodies time to write programs (even viruses) for them.
You conservatives do use M$ crap because you are stupid, that is the complete and sad story. If you were smart you would at least run Linux.
I do work in the real world and I have studied computer science, including classes on system design. So don't try to tell me how an operating system should look like and what the reasons are why MacOS is less prone to virus attacks than Windows.
My work environment is about 60% Mac, 10% Linux and 30% Windows. My customers do use the majority of my products on Windows, but we do develop major parts of the products on Macs for the simple reason that the productivity is much higher (less downtime due to system fuckups, less driver issues, which is important if you develop hardware).
Were you calling my post drivel, or just shedding your guilty conscience by confessing to your alias? Because that is a quality video my friend (trying to sound a bit like McCain).
If Glumbert is on it's last legs would it be nice to see an alias list?
Just to see if people are who people thought they were or not.
I'll start....
webx3u, twowords, swine and linker.
There, Good bye all, time to get on with real life.
According to some, my alias's were asshole, torture-lover, idiot, moron, redneck, flag-waver, and more.
You guys are all amateurs, my wife generates better names than that every fight. Although, she is kinda fond of "asshole". But I'm not sure if she means it cruelly, or if she actually believes its my middle name. Baby induced sleep deprivation is very stressful on marriages.
Those were not "aliases". Still can't read...can you?
Those wer logical, factual-based value-based judgements leveleld at YOU by ME, based upon your silly, limited knowledge of...well...just about anything and everything.
To call them "aliases" means you are trying to give yourself credit you do NOT deserve.
As for your ignorance and inconsistancy on a multitude of topics, as well as changing your opinion after you've been confronted with the clear wrongness of what you've said, you set the bar very high.
streamy ..... remember, missionary position only!!!!! don't try anything fancy right out of the gate, safety first. also, it might help if you kept your half-baked opinions/convictions to yourself for the first few years.
Maybe just maybe, we are all brains in a vat (think matrix) but even better than that, the earth is on someones laptop and we are all computer generated beings.
OK the technology doesn't exist yet, no not in our world, but maybe it's already happened.
But if the technology did exist, we wouldn't know it anyway, cause we'd be brains in a vat... At least we wouldn't have to worry about global warming, the end of oil, and Obama turning America into a socialist tyranny anymore.
Granny with her gun will now become the official message board of Glumbert. Maybe the person who runs the site just got sick of approving videos that everyone said sucked. Or maybe they are on holiday.
Obviously liberals believe Obama is skidding, since he is the messiah, and bigger governments solve all problems.
Conservatives believe Obama is accelerating for the bigger crash, with massive inflation coming, even deeper recession, the world ditching the US dollar, and permanent decrease in US standard of living.
I actually hope the liberals are right, but I know better. Spending your way out of debt doesn't work for individuals, it doesn't work for government. When even European nations start ripping on Obama's plan as spending too much, that's friggin scary! That's like Rosie O'donnel telling you to stop eating too much.
I did just lock a sweet 4.875% 30 year fixed mortgage refinance, so when the massive double-digit inflation hits, assuming I still have a job, I should be able to pay off my house easily! I'm such an optimist. ;-)
If a double digit inflation hits you can maybe pay off the mortgage if you have some bean cans stored :)
I think the Dollar will lose the position as standard trade currency in any case, no matter how this all works out.
So far much of Europe is less affected than the USA are, no idea if it will stay this way, but it is easy to criticise from a more stable position. The problem for the USA is that the industiral production base is at such a low level. You can not get our of a recession on consulting jobs.
I'd rather have Romney driving the bus over the cliff. He might slow down first, rather than accelerate, but its still the fall that kills. But we can't have him, because he believes in a slightly less acceptable superstition than Obama right?
if that was a level 2 vest that should have stopped a 9 mm ...... he probably bought a cheap i mexican imitation, by the way that sure did look like a 9 mil bullet hole ... he'll know soon enough
Helldiver, are you joking me or what! A democrat? With a gun? LOL! Looks like a true blue republican 2nd amendment supporter to me!
Now, for equal opportunity...I'll show you a Democrat, or should I say, how our newly elected officials in Washington would like things to be (gun bans and such)....
Chuck, that vest did stop the bullet. Without the ballistic plate in place, even without penetration, it will still bite you a little. Especially if you are a scrawny redneck!
Miter, I was joking. Whenever Canuck identifies someone as a Republican, they automatically get the stupid in-bred flag-waving redneck label thrown in for free, as if all Republicans can be so neatly generalized and bigoted against.
I agree, the vest did its job of stopping the bullet from penetrating his chest. That don't mean its not gonna hurt! If it had penetrated where it did, I don't think he would have remained standing for long.
"Whenever Canuck identifies someone as a Republican, they automatically get the stupid in-bred flag-waving redneck label thrown in for free, as if all Republicans can be so neatly generalized and bigoted against."
Yes.
I would even add 'dumb' and 'clueless' to the list.
Yep, He is either on a long vacation, working on flash player 10, or just letting the site go. So just in case this place goes down I have joined Miter and others at Break.com as PodmanGlumbert. Somebody else already had the Podman ID :(
Change is almost always good. Only time will tell.
This thing is morphing into a chat site, which, in fact, may not be an unhappy outcome, given the quality of many posters here.
But it won't last.
I expect I'll keep checking daily for a while. It is a bit addictive, after all, and I really don't look forward to searching for a replacement (facebook is just too freakin' bizarre - like a word-based Ponzi scheme - or Madoff scheme, to be more current - where they chain "friends" and "relatives" into a exponentially expanding web).
Being fundamentally lazy, I don't relish the notion of having to learn and blend with another entirely different ration of posters...just too much of a pain where one needs no pain.
With posts still arriving, I wonder if we are in denial about Glumbert's passing, or just hoping it's a coma from which he'll emerge if we just wait long enough. We'll see.
Another site that would be fun to switch to is numaga.com It is a video site hosted in the Netherlands, which means no beeps over swearing and no abnoxious black bars over boobs.
Can you get thirty year fixed rates in america???? the land of credit!
My brother in law who's an Architect, has designed a house for a top london banker, he told him at the end of next year interest rates will rocket, he said this last year and he's provin to be right.
Yessiree Skids, with interest rate's at an all time low, 4.65 30 year fixed, all you need is a very good credit rating 760 or better and 10 - 20 percent down for a down payment. Now is a real good time to buy! All home sales are up, new house starts are up, the bottom has been reached, don't wait if your in the market, things are about to turn around. I've been getting lots of calls for remodeling, still a tight job market here (understatement) but as in the past, when remodeling picks up, the pendulum has swung the other way! The US decline is over folks, start spending on those things you need (new cars from the "big" three may be risky) prices are at the very lowest they'll ever get! And by all means START REMODELING!!!! (miter needs the work!)
I think inflation and interest rates will definately skyrocket soon. I predict double-digit inflation in 2 years. Not sure if the housing market has bottomed out yet, but its coming soon. I'm starting to think about adding on to my house, but am waiting another few months for spring, and to make sure I still have a job!
It is a great time to buy a car! Car companies are giving you guarantees if you lose your job, and the feds are covering GM and Chrysler warranties. Which can't possibly be worse than how fucking poorly GM stood behind their warranties in the past. :-( Plus, you get a tax deduction this year if you're old car was over 8 years old.
They started with the car subsidizing here in Germany, you are getting 2500 Euro when your old car is at least nine years old and goes to the scrap yard to be replaced for a new one.
For the type of cars that profit most from this the amount is more or less the VAT. The German branch of GM, Opel, has been able to sell enough cars due to this law to gain sufficient liquidity to survive for the moment.
Seems like a lot of good cars will be going to the junkyard prematurely, at great government expense. I'm not for sacrificing tax dollars to keep private industries alive.
From: 'David LaBonte' My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register which, of course, was not printed. So, I decided to 'print' it myself by sending it out on the Internet. Pass it along if you feel so inclined. Written in response to a series of letters to the editor in the OrangeCounty Register:
Dear Editor: So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren't being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.
Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times.. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.
They had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.
Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France, and Japan . None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one people.
When we liberated France, no one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German- American or the Irish-American. The people of France saw only Americans.. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.
And here we are in 2008 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges, only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.
And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn't start talking about dismantling theUnited States just yet.
Canuck - far from it for me to support OB....his past performances here have rarely been pleasant.
Still, this letter has merit, and to label it as Xenophobic is wrong.
Orange County in southern California, much like most of the southern border regions in recent years, suffers from an enormous influx of (key word here) "illegal" immigrants. One is not Xenophobic if one resents the arrival of people who wish to preserve their own culture, demand full citizen rights (welfare, food stamps, use of hospitals as primary care resources - uninsured, of course), drive without licenses, registrations, insurance....and so on, as if they deserved the same status as those who legally belong to and work to support the society.
Add to that the enormous increase in criminal activity over recent years in that region, clearly related to the illigal immigrant "industry", and the drug trade.
Xenophobic? So if your neighbor who arrived illegaly from another country, and who has yet to pay a contribution to your commonwealth, decides to drive uninsured and slams into your car, are you Xenphobic when you get pissed off (as you often do with much slighter causes)?
C - again, not crediting OB with much.....this letter resonates in the US...the grand offer inscribed on the Statue of Liberty has been used to demonize any US effort to require "legal" immigration.
A long time ago a young associate of mine chaired a meeting and fielded a question (which I can't recall) asking what to do about a similar dilemma...and she responded "you are not the conscience of the world"...meaning to say that the questioner need not blame herself for not being able to meet all needs from all people in all circumstances.
That's US.....we are not responsible for the entire world's needs, though we certainly serve them better than any other resource. I think.
The US guilt factor amazes me sometimes. We may do stupid things - hell, all countries/cultures do, but we're the most visible - but we do wonderful things too.
OK.......that's enough. I just sparked to the Xenophobic note....and....I think, all told, we are thoroughly entitled to whine once in a while.
Bruins have beat up Toronto this year....looks like we'll have to be offering them tickets, if they want to be at the Stanley Cup finals.
C, xenophobic? How do you figure? There's no fear of immigrants, just a disgust for the disrespect shown by some illegals, the loss of jobs, the handouts of welfare, medicare. Many, many, many ,many Americans have died for "what we stand for", are we to just turn away from that? Say oh what the fuck, that was then this is now? Just because it's at the moment "politically correct"? I don't fucking think so sheriff, not while I'm still breathing. We have been tolerant as all get out, giving and giving some more. This whole "PC" fad we are currently in will be gone one day, the sooner the better, as we turn back to common sense values and law, the way it's always been till now. To me it's like filling a giant ship, it only holds so many, can only feed so many, only employ so many. Overload it and everyone goes down with the ship. I'd like to add to that, the greedy SOB's that send our manufacturing over sea's to the lowest bidder...add those two and there you have the problem with the US as well as the rest of the world hanging on our ass for every damn thing. Damn good thing I'm not the one in power holding Obama's marionette strings, whomever that may be! I'd kick the whole lot of em out, and prosecute anyone who moves jobs/manufacturing out of this country!
Right on Rosemary LaBonte, the vast majority are with you!
Miter, a country is not much like a ship. But you can not fill a country with unskilled people who not even properly speak the official language. This is going to unbalance the society sooner or later, there are only so many floors to scrub and dishes to wash.
The result of PC immigration laws and practices can be seen in Europe as well as in the USA. Immigrants who are not fit to work and who raise children who will not be fit either since they too don't learn the local language.
Asking for a certain standard is not xenophobic, it is the logical thing to do. But since when do politicians do logical things?
Wow, great rant Chaz and Miter, saved me from having to piss off Canuck again. Even Podman and Bug disagreed with C, must be some seriously strong opinions about this topic.
I have no problem with legal immigrants, and would even make legal immigration easier, to curb the illegal immigration enough so law enforcement could control the problem. But to come here illegally, demanding constitutional rights of US citizens, demanding entitlements, not learning English, and not pledging loyalty to America, well that's just rude! That's like someone breaking into your house, demanding your food, money, and car, and telling you that you owe that to them.
The only thing that might be construed as xenophobic in this, would be to assume all illegal immigrants are guilty of these things. Most immigrants, even illegal ones, still want to assimilate to earn themselves their slice of the American dream. But a society can only assimilate so many people, so fast. Not like us immigrants assimilated to the Native Americans very well! Ok, we took up planting corn.
The people who usually get the most pissed off discussing illegal immigrants, are the legal immigrants.
Its possible Canuck only lashed out because the post had "Hitler" in it. Canuck really hates to read that "H" word. ;-)
Some folks disagreed with my interperetation of this piece.
So what?
Does that give you something to crow about? So crow away, if it gives you pleasure. Their disagreements are NOT based or founded upon oblivious ignorance or blind, malicious arrogance bordering on being supremely stupid (like many of YOUR observations).
As for the whole "Hitler" thingy...that is something I have skewered YOU on, mostly because you've been wrong just about everytime you've brought him AND his regime. But if you think "he bothers me" personally....well, keep at it, then.
Besides....why don't you just relax? Can't you see how stale this site has become?? You just seemed the likeliest candidate for a small bit of selective targetting on my part, in an attempt to alleviate the boredom of not seeing any more new vids cropping up around here. Mind you, I think you're still way off the mark on some things (especially maybe when you allow nationalistic fervor to perhaps cloud your reasoning a bit), but for the most part....IT'S STARTING TO GET DULLLLLLL AROUND HERE.
So I chose.....you.
You should feel honored.
P.S.
You should know that in my many, MANY travels down 'South', I have experienced nothing but the greatest of legendary "southern hospitality", along with their great food. Oddly, a great many of those folks down THEAH have shown a peculiar affinity for Canada and Canadians, as well as displaying an unexpected geographical knowledge (many times even from first-hand experience).
Listen guys, maybe I should elaborate here; you see, you're preaching to the choir on this whole issue of immigration. Canada, much like the U.S., has struggled for YEARS with how best to initiate/implement some kind of responsible immigration reform. Believe me.....I've seen/dealt with FIRST-HAND examples of abuses by some so-called 'immigrants', and guys, I'll tell you, I felt like choking some of these pricks with my bare hands. Honestly. Don't know if either of you recall me telling you tghis, but my own parents emmigrated to this country, having arrived here in 1960 from eastern Europe; they fled communist oppression; the Cold War was in full swing; and simply telling 'them', i.e., the powers-that-were, that you wanted to move to the West could have meant either a long prison stay....or a death sentence, at worst. But, in the end, they did. Now, back then, the rule and expectation was simple: work...or starve. Sure, there was 'welfare', but it bears little resemblence to the current system that exists. Plus....you just couldn't live or settle wherever you damn well pleased. You had to live for two years where the government told you that you could live, and after that....take your pick. Soooo....the Old Man rolled up his sleeves, and got to work in the mines up in nothern Ontario; my mom got whatever pennies-per hour job SHE could get, and that's the way it was. This was on top of raising three kids, mind you. Add a language barrier to this, and you'll get an idea of what the hell they must have gone through. By the time they both passed on, they were living comfortably in a nice house in the northwestern part of Toronto, debt-free.......but only after having worked most of their lives like dogs.
But the problem I have with the above story is this:
There are far, far too many people (both THERE and HERE) who are way too prone to using the immigration to mask/advance an anti-immigrant, or 'xenophobic' agenda; sure, it SOUNDS like it might make some sense on the surface...but once you get that ball rolling, can you (or anyone) TRUST that it will be implemented accordiongly? Or fairly? Or civilly? I mean...can you TRUST that it would be so? I tell you, even in spite of my own strong feelings on this one...I say no way. Next thing you know, is that if lot of these fear-mongering types have their way, they'll turn My country AND yours into another Checkpoint Charlie, and have us ALL living within the boundaries of concrete walls. Is THAT what you want?
SENSIBLE immigration reform? Absolutely.
KNEE-JERK implementation of a fear or anger-based philosophy?
By-the-by....today in Binghampton, N.Y., someone who was disgruntled with the calibre of immigrants being present in the U.S. decided to vent his frustration in a minor way, and did something small....like...ummm...errrrr....ahhhhh......getting a weapon and murdering at least 13 of them in cold blood on a kill-crazy rampage.
While they were writing their......citizenship exams.
Do you boys think this is what the inbred known as OB and good ol' Rosemary LaBONE had in mind?
Or no?
Or maybe this was just an....abberation? Fluke? Isolated incident? Oh, I'm VERY sure there can be a REASONED response to sensible immigration reform.
ok.........posting over and over and and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over . . . . . . . . . . doesn't say anything. . . . . . . . . . just insulting . . . . . . . . . . seek help c minus
ooff.....ya got meeeee!!!!....oh please oh please get of me c. i can't take it...... . . . . . . . umm.......is that what you need? . . . . delusional bleeding cunt.....how about you sticking that tampon in your mouth and shut the fuck up......... . . . .
The day I need "reading comprehension" tips from a fuckin' pea-brain like yourself, is the day I turn in all of my degrees and diplomas to the George W. Bush Library.
Come to think of it....that might actually help him out (having something literate and intellient in there, I mean).
I damn c minus....you really burned me there....ahuh...got me..ya right....good job. Your wit is so superior to everyone else's here, it doesn't even make sense us.
Big government failing to do the job it is constitutionally mandated to do. I don't mean deport all illegal immigrants, I mean control immigration to eliminate illegal immigration. I do feel for illegal immigrants, they should be given a path to legal citizenship, but they can't be rewarded for breaking our laws.
helldiver many believe that the justice department of the districts along the US/Mexico border have become compromised by the political and criminal influence of exteremley wealthy and powerful interests on both sides of the border. Border patrol agents who interdict drug runners are often prosecuted themselves while the punks are given immunity, ... one individual in particular bears scrutiny .... JOHN SUTTON US ATTORNEY WESERN DISTRICT TEXAS...check him out.... on the other end of the spectrum the US attorney in San Diego seems to have done a pretty good job (naturally she was fired by her boss, a well known religious fanatic named monica goodling, a graduate of jerry fallwell bible college and number 2 at the justice department, no shit .... ,,,,
by the way religious fruitcake monica goodling has been the only employee in the historyof the justice dept. to take the fifth amendment rather than answer congressional inquiry ......
Imagine a red indian glumbert posting back when white man first appeared;
Bigfoot; I don't know white man bring guns and suger, suger sweet and man called kevin cosner help me when my arm don't work.
Paledog; Yes but these bloody illegal immigrants are a pain, you give them an inch they take a mile
Bigfoot; But we need guns to fight cherokee?
Paledog; Ok, let illegal white man in, but he only get small wage and shit job, anyway why he come here?
Bigfoot; Europe is shit and the religious types surpressed.
Gingerhead; Amen
Question; Why do people immigrate? think about that !
Like someone posted once the first DNA was found in Africa, so that's everyones homeland..in theory...in theory we are all earthlings on a ball in space fighting for survival.
LMAO!! I always loved Glumbert play writes! Thanks Skid.I'm on My way to New Mexico tomorrow for my friends Bachelor farewell. He'd rather hike the San Miguel or camp up on the Via Grande then do the lap dance thing.. and no it's not Stream! LOL!!
I also joined that Break.com that Pod mentioned, course I'll join most any site allowing me to keep in touch with most of the posters here incase this place folds?
Hell! We've been doing this for almost,if not 2 years some of us? Seems a shame to lose touch just cause one site can't keep up. How do I find where you're posting over on break.com pod or Miter? I fear I will not see Bigfoot In my travels, Although A Cherokee I'm most certainly going to run into, along with a Few pueblos and some Sioux.
Gingerhead...lol Southpark? Paledog, of which I am!
Randal, a non lap dance type bachelor party...out in the great outdoors, in New Mexico...hmmm again...entheogens come to mind....so to speak.
At Break.com, to find a persons profile, if you know the name they're posting under, just enter that in the search box. Enter mitercut and you'll find me, although I only have a few vids that are already on YouTube. I really need to get some new videos!
I did start to dabble in my "painting with explosives" idea, for which I have a photo of my first "painting", I have posted it on the glumbert facebook page...
My first attempt was interesting, in that I found I need to use non flammable paint! It created a rather large brush fire, that I was not expecting, reason being every time I try to ignite flammable liquids with an explosion, it just consumes all the oxygen and no fire...but oh boy not this time! It threw liquid fire everywhere and everywhere was in the dry brush! LOL!
How do you set profile pic? Looked everywhere and I'm missing it obviously? I need to go and pack, I'll try to take some good picks and I'll post them on either site!
Later all, Hope your here when I get back? If not you know where to find us!! LOL!!
R- go to: My profile section - Modify. They have blocked me from making any more changes to my profile, because I think I used a option in a way they had not intended. But hey, if they don't want us using those things that way, then don't give us the option. It takes a programmer to really break a program.Maybe tomorrow they will let me try again.
R - Break put a lock on my break account, and the only action I could take was deleting it. Maybe it was the name, maybe it was actually using the features they provided, but I'm deleted.
A woman was called in front of a Texas grand jury for possible manslaughter charges after she shot a mugger 6 times in the back as he
was running away with her purse. She had her hand on her gun when he
grabbed the purse, and she was left with the revolver in her hand.
When asked by the grand jury why she shot the man 6 times in the back as he was running away she replied under oath:
"Because when I pulled the trigger the 7th time it only went click".
She was acquitted of all charges...... That's the way it is in Texas.
I almost forgot to tell of my April fools experience! I was out riding my ATV in the late afternoon, when I came back to put it away there was a card and note on my windshield, this is what it said.....
I'm looking for you, I have some very important questions to ask you, I have been to all the local homes in the area trying to find out who you are, now I know. Please contact me as soon as possible it is very important.
Thank you ---- -----
I was a tad curious to say the least, then I read the attached business card, my mind raced, I was a bit freaked out, but I thought to myself, I have done nothing wrong, what the f are you worried about, this is what the card had on it...(name removed)
STATE OF MICHIGAN
MICHIGAN STATE POLICE
FORENSIC SCIENCE DIVISION
DETECTIVE SGT. ---- ------
STATE POLICE SPECIALIST
FIREARMS AND TOOL MARK IDENTIFICATION UNIT
I called the number and the above person said he was looking for a missing hunting blind! Somehow he found out I was the person who removed it (off our private property!) He thought I ripped it off or something, but I set it nicely by a big oak tree on what turns out to be his dads land and he didn't see it. My approach to the trespassing detective was to invite him to hunt that area in the future, as long as I meet him and set some ground rules (where we all are for shooting purposes). With all the crazy crap that goes on over there, I figure another officer out in the woods is a good idea!
Here's a taste of some (not all) of the crap that went on.....
Van drives slowly down adjoining county rd, window opens, shotgun barrel comes out, BOOM down goes a doe, right in front of me!
Find completely drunk and lost moron in the woods, no hunter orange, during gun season.
Walk out to blind pre dawn, smelling an awful smoke smell, as the sun comes up I see a smoking "mass" in the back twenty woods, turns out to be a stolen pickup someone smashed into a tree and burned.
Walk up, shotgun in hand, to a small sedan parked back in off the road, I see a man in it, I approach stealthily from the side to discover a man getting a BJ, from another man (my eyes, my eyes!)
Observe a car driving in the freshly planted soybeans and park, I zip over on my ATV and discover a man getting a BJ, this time from a woman, at least twenty years his senior.
Go to get my "doghouse blind" not there, stolen.
Did not witness, but heard all about; at night two teens drunken and doing spins in the south-west hay field, seeing car headlights approaching, they punch it, lose control, hit a bridge guardrail and flipped, breaking the neck of the 17 year old passenger, he is now paralyzed from the neck down, the 15 year old unlicensed driver is unhurt (it's always that way).
Ragging brush fire swept over 6 acres because some moron shot a tracer round into a roll of hay...oh wait that was me...never mind.
While splitting wood, in the woods (where else), I see a truck slowly going down another adjoining county rd, it stops, two dudes jump out and begin dumping a bunch of rotten wood and shingles, I'm on foot and can do nothing about it. I was carrying at the time and was real tempted to start popping off some rounds! That one still pisses me off!
See man going in and out of same above county rd, doing something what I don't know, I get to the edge of the field and start yelling at him, no response, I get over to him on ATV and start asking him wtf are you doing, no response, then I realize he's deaf and just picking up returnables.
Same area again, I find a truck just in the field by the road, I look around and find no one, then out of nowhere a guy come up behind me holding a pistol in his hand (pointing down) I was unarmed and felt stupid for not being so, that won't happen again out there let me tell you! Turned out he was checking traps he set (legal in the right of way).
There's much more, but don't want to bore anyone.....
Umm...noyou have no sting..................sorryjust because you proclaim yourself the victor by a "stinging" insult doesn't really prove anything.........really............i mean if what you say is true(you being far superior to my small "pea-brain")...you are therefore lowering yourself to my standards are you not?
anyhoo darling....hope you take some time and check out that link
it's about the similarities you have with Hitler
oh and.......i figure i'll go ahead and make it clear to you......your insults are as weak as your arguments here.......and if i had any respect for you maybe they'd sting? but you don't deserve any of that.....you demand? not shure whats wrong with you? psychotic?brain tumor?molested by daddy?but what ever it is you should seek help.sorrylove ob

C - I for one do not think one crazy man disproves the basis for the discussion. You above the rest of us (as you yourself have stated), understand that laws and their enforcement are one of the few things that hold a society together.
I do think the illegals should be given a choice. One month in jail for each year they have spent in the US illegally, or you can leave and petition the government for legal entry.
I have to live by the rules of this country, why should illegals be immune from practically every standing law on our books?
If I don't pay income tax - I go to jail, if I don't have a drivers license and drive - I go to jail, If I don't have insurance and get in a accident - I go to jail, If I falsify documents for capital gain - I go to jail, and on, and on, and on. And they do all of this while despising the US, and mockingly laugh at the generosity of its people.
Yes there is real anger at the whole breakdown of law and enforcement in this country. Here is a guy saying what most Americans are felling about the total breakdown of law and governance: THE BEST WAY TO ROB A BANK IS TO OWN ONE: http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/04032009/profile.html
And the breakdown of the media as well:
..."polls show that huge numbers of issues and positions that are held by large numbers of Americans are ones that are virtually never heard in our media discussions." http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/04032009/profile2.html
The real fear in America is that the citizens have no control of voice in this republic, and if that's true, is there really a "republic" at all?
The illegal issue must be confronted by truth and not the PC crap that roots its continuance. It has become a kind of passively accepted idea in America that nothing should cause pain or distress, even if it is upholding law against crime.
Unless a society can embrace the truth of a situation without bias, then no solution can be enacted, because a foundation of lies cannot support anything of value. Hence, the underlying solution for criminal activities actually lies in the honesty and courage of its populace to confront such activities without personal or political bias, and enforce the rules that create a society with full regard of the pain so induced as the cost of such enforcement.
In simpler terms, most of the adults in America need to really grow up and accept the actions required for the society that they want, over the PC BS that gives us the society that we have.
Stephen Hawking, in a talk about the origin of the universe, and after working backwards to the "big bang", used these words, NO LIE: "...and the universe created itself...". Look it up on TED.com, searching on his name. HIs presentation there is immensely interesting.
How is it that the world's leading atheist/pragmatist/thinker/scientist can believe THAT ! Something from nothing ? Existence from non-existence? Happenstance ? Whoa.....what a concept....an uncaused cause. Sound familiar?
Seems to me there's lots of room for people to hold an alternate belief with at least equal equanimity - in a supreme being, for example - when the alternative is to believe the idea that, in some serendipitous moment before which there existed NOTHING, a universe spontaneously appeared, OF ITS OWN MAKING ! ? !
The clip you cite, with its sanctimonious, somewhat snotty and cloyingly superior narrator, with his tony phrasing and accent, absolutely drips disdain and disrespect while he peddles his own belief system.
But I understand his position and grant him perfect liberty to enjoy it. Frankly, it's OK with me if he believes Stephen Hawking created the universe...whatever floats his philosophical boat.
Meantime, I'm gonna hit church on Sundays and let the self-indulgent pragmatists get together wherever they do and comtemplate Hawking's pronouncements over tonics and biscuits. What the hell...it all comes out the same in the end anyway.
(OK....I admit I went to some length to irritate some people with this post and I figured, halfway though it, that I'd just delete the thing...but after I was done, I thought - what the hell....I'm gonna post it anyway...there IS some reasonableness there and it might be fun to see if anyone reacts...assuming that anyone is returning to this coma-stricken site.)
Why does something from nothing mandate a deity be involved. I'm not trying your faith, but faith will always exist, because true faith required no linkage to science, or to anything at all.
None of the parameters of the Gods can be proven or disproven by any method of science. Because religion has NOTHING to with science, and science has NOTHING to do with Gods. They are separated entirely by their founding philosophy. Correct?
"Why does something from nothing mandate a deity be involved. I'm not trying your faith, but faith will always exist, because true faith required no linkage to science, or to anything at all. "
...I didn't mean to give the impression that a deity is "mandated" in my post...my point was simply that believing in an "uncaused cause" applies to both views equally, that of Hawking and that of a theist. I'd suggest that it is no more bizarre to believe "nothing" created the universe (as in, it, while in a state of nonexistence, created itself) than to believe "something" created the universe (as in a pre-existing supreme being created the universe)...both are fundamentally illogical, hence the need for "faith" to believe in either.
"None of the parameters of the Gods can be proven or disproven by any method of science. Because religion has NOTHING to with science, and science has NOTHING to do with Gods. They are separated entirely by their founding philosophy. Correct?"
Well, yeah, I guess I can agree to that with reservations: There are obvious points where they clash, i.e., science and religion. Clearly, as science advances, it becomes increasingly involved in the fundamental elements of life. Separating plant life and animal life from human life, the potential for conflict takes a quantum leap upwards with incursions into the latter, at least with most all the religions I have heard of. Obviously, this is an inevitablility...religions by and large have rules to live by based on a specific value system. Most value systems place heavy emphasis on preserving human life in all its stages, while science tends to view life in its smallest components, separate from its entirety...and always, science seeks to experiment to learn, to find answers, to solve mysteries, to discover. We've seen what has developed over the last century, and in the last 25 years most particularly....not just abortion, or euthanasia (assisted suicides), but also embryonic stem cell research, gene splicing and cloning and other experiments involving the very basics of our being....many believe these are threats to, or direct attacks on human life.
I'm absolutely happy that I am surrounded by people who believe differently from me....there's something healthy in always questioning one's own philosophy, which is what that diversity promotes.
I get uncomfortable sometimes as science approaches the notion of creation of human life, especially when I hear the word "mutant" as a possible result of scientific experimentation. I worry that researchers fixated on experimentation may lose sight of the larger picture - the one that religions tend to hold in highest value. Most agree we shouldn't mess in this area, but you gotta know that IF something can be examined, observed, parsed and replicated, THEN that's what will inevitably happen.
Carried on quite a bit...sorry. Appreciate your views...always solid, even the ones I may not support personally.
chaz - "not just abortion, or euthanasia (assisted suicides), but also embryonic stem cell research, gene splicing and cloning and other experiments involving the very basics of our being....many believe these are threats to, or direct attacks on human life. "
I find it interesting that faith based value systems will accept ANY of the discoveries of science. How do you accept vaccines, but not stem cells. Why is it a 'God given miracle' for sterile women to give birth via heavy handed science, yet abortion of a nonviable fetus is science run amok?
Seems to me to actually live true to ones faith in God, one would have to reject ALL of the fruits of science; buildings, cars, clothes, computers, everything. Why is it only one religion on earth does this?
...and I don't think anyone has the right to decide in cases of assisted suicide except the one who wants it. Individuals being full grown or unborn are not the possessions of religious groups.

Damn - the trouble with discussing controversial issues with intelligent people is their tendency to make intelligent arguments. At this juncture I am at risk for coming across like Streamo...who, BTW, makes sense often, despite the detractors he attracts.
"Embryonic" stem cells - key word being "embryo"....NOT "stem cells". My understanding (non-technical) is that scientists have been able to develop equally usable stem cells from assorted other sources other than embryos, umbilical cord being the most advertised, but I believe normal skin tissue also. The issue here is that a human embryo is a potential human life...the others are not. So, given the ready availability of alternatives, why need a human embryo be sacrificed? And the underlying issue, beyond that simple point, is the absolutely predictable eventuality that human embryos will be "manufactured" specifically for the purpose of being sacrificed for science...something many feel demeans the value of human life.
Regarding vaccines, these preserve or protect human (and other) life, with no harm to other human life. And the "miracle of life" via science is also supportive of new human life, hardly objectionable to most religions (but not all). Calling this positive support of human life "heavy handed" just doesn't make sense to me.
The "abortion" thing will ever bedevil people of diverse opinions. To abort a "non-viable" fetus has that ring of sense, but not sensibility, in my view. You can make a great argument in support of this practice, citing incest and rape, but reality has shown that the overwhelming number of abortions are not at all to protect victim women, but to avoid social embarassment, inconvenience, or financial responsibility. Hell, these are the same reasons most murders are perpetrated amongst adults. Wouldn't you think the folks would have caught on by now? Sheeesh !
"Seems to me to actually live true to ones faith in God, one would have to reject ALL of the fruits of science; buildings, cars, clothes, computers, everything. Why is it only one religion on earth does this?"
Is that really what you think? Surprises me. You appear to have a view of religiosity that varies quite a bit from reality....and I say that without the intent of challenging your own beliefs. Hell, the world is overwhelmingly populated by "believers" of one sort of another. One does not leave rational and responsible life when one follows one or another faith group. It is not, after all, the same as Jonesville, or the comet people, or Branch Davidians - or that faith group you refer to. Most religions (particularly in western world countries) are fully engaged in all aspects of life, good and bad. I hope you just were trying to overstate your view that clearly and aggressively challenges all faith systems on the grounds of their lack of objective proof.
"...and I don't think anyone has the right to decide in cases of assisted suicide except the one who wants it."
Yeah, can't argue much on the suicide issue, except to note that it is not the patient/victim that draws the criticism....it's the doc or other person who actually cooperates in or performs the deed. People commit suicide. That is a tragic reality, generally made by people in deep distress, or emotional unbalance, or some other deeply problematic situation. A second party being involved creates an entirely different situation.
Do you suppose they (the assisters) should be licensed after attending, like a college major sort of thing, or some sort of training program? Make it a physician specialty? ("Deaths Are Us")! Maybe advertise? Become a hospital-provided "benefit"?
Good grief, the hippocratic oath disintegrates to nothing the moment those trusted to make life supporting decisions begin to make life ending decisions. How prone might they be to "eliminate problems", if euthanasia should become an accepted practice? And, make no mistake, money would enter the process and color the decisions...it always does.
"Individuals being full grown or unborn are not the possessions of religious groups."
No question.....they are not. What they are, however, are human lives. What they are not are livestock. The rules are and should be different between them. Many animal species eat their own young....no human group does, irrespective of how primitive or advanced they might be. So perhaps human life is not comparable to any other, and apparently the various societies of the world believe something similar.
Pod.....I've seen the ragging Streamo has taken for his views. I do not particularly care who or how many agree with me, nor do I wish to make any other poster look bad. AND...abortion is such an incendiary issue, I certainly want to avoid the emotional contest it generates. Hope you don't mind if we continue to disagree....respectfully, of course.
Yeah, we can disagree, and your answers were interesting.
I think a "Deaths Are Us" is a great idea. In the movie Soylent Green they depicted such a industry, of course they had a innovative solution to the disposal problem. I think a "going home" place would be nicer than dying strapped to the medical/money suction devices of the local HMO corporation.
But, don't think for a moment that doctors do not assist death, because they do thousands of times per day.
And I did have a college professor who belonged to a group (religious I think) that had gatherings to eat the placenta of anyone born into the faith. So indirectly they do consume the fetus, probably with garlic and mushrooms, and a nice Chianti, ... I didn't ask.
Chaz, cosmology is advanced to a point where anyone understanding it sufficiently can see that there is no place for a god (any god) within this universe. How the universe came into being is a thing that so far escapes explanation when it goes before the big bang, since this would involve to know what it is "outside" the universe and this is something not observable.
But our current knowledge points towards the universe being basically an uneven distribution of nothing.
Streamy by the way makes no sense at all. He is just a loudmouth who gives himself the appearance of understanding science, yet he only uses the words and presents twisted versions of the scientific theories. If you think he makes sense then only because he supports your religious beliefs (some at least).
Stem cells: I am not much into that field, but I understand that embroynal stem cells have different properties from those from other sources and are the most useful for research.
Potential human life: An ejaculation is also potential human life. Where do you draw your artifical line?
Abortion: Why does religion care so much about unborn life, but gives a shit about the born ones? I would rather see an abortion than a contribution to the trailer park population. How much love for life is it to force a mother to raise a child she does not want or love? Don't we already have enough failed existences around?
All glumberters should play this game when it comes out so they can take out their aggression on each other. See you on the battlefield.
http://www.battlefield-heroes.com/
Haha, it still isn't out? It was due out fall of LAST year.. I'd long since forgot about it. Dice and EA's people must be almost as inefficient as the ones running Glumbert...
Again, here we have yet another tragedy, yet another senseless mass killing, by yet another crazed lunatic with a gun. The fact that he was an immigrant/legal citizen, killing immigrants that were learning to become US citizens legaly, is irrelevant. They were learning english, and taking citizenship classes, the type of immigrant that no one has a problem with.
On a nice day, in a nice town sat the immigration office. Outside, on the front of the building, as in most gun massacres' in the past few months/years, hung a big official sign reading "NO GUNS, THIS IS A GUN FREE BUILDING".
Sickening how the nut jobs seem to prey upon the most innocent, unsuspecting people, just as sickening as the sign on the building and it's message. Which literally means, come kill here, we are unarmed.
Nut jobs like this come from all race's, religions, sex's, and income levels, they are the evil that lurks within. All that death and heartbreak could potentially be avoided by one person with a concealed weapon. No armed guard, nor the police, nor any security has as much power to stop this kind of senseless, selfish act, as the right to bear arms and carry a concealed weapon does. The most powerful advantage in self defense (unfortunately in offense as well) is the element of surprise, and in the case of nut jobs, the possibility of an armed victim, an unseen unknown armed victim....may, can, and does thwart this type of tragedy. Time and time again, we see where the killers go, who are all cowards...to the nearest "gun free zone"...knowing they are free from any armed interference. Police, and security, of which their presence is very rare, with their uniforms on, are a bulls-eye and when present, are usually the first to go....by surprise attack. We all have a right to self defense and life. Since this is the case yet again, I'll repeat my tireless phrase, "when seconds count, the police are minutes away"!
Ask yourself a question;
If a crazed lunatic killer was coming for you or your family, would you post a sign on your home saying "This is a gun free home"? I think not!
The evil element is amongst us, you never know when, you never know where.
In a college study, a group of men and women were asked thier views on "gun control" the ones in favor of, were then grouped together and asked about their views in detail. They then grouped the very strongest anti gun persons together and asked them to visualize and answer a "what if" scenario question. The question was; if a person entered your home and tried to kidnap, rape, or kill your child, and there was a gun in your hand, what would you do...put it down and call the police? Or use it, either as a threat or to shoot? The overwhelming response was to shoot AND kill!
After the study 75 percent of these people were AGAINST gun bans!
Read into that what you want, the way I see it is... A classic example of "following the crowd" or reading and hearing biased views from the "media elite. The lies, the propaganda, all seem to melt away when personally confronted by a situation that hits close to home. It is human to survive, to make tools for that purpose, really it's the only real purpose of every single organism on Earth, to survive and reproduce, to evolve. Some will say it is a God given right, even the evolve part!
Of course this is my opinion, of which I have a right to. Which segways neatly into my next rant....
The Canuck...
I've notice some "C" bashing (yah think?) going on...again. One might even misinterpret my comment (somewhere up there) as Canuck bashing, not the case! C, I luv ya man, so don't take offense...
I see a man who is opinionated to say the least. He has a right to state his views as much as you, me, or anyone. I don't always agree, but I don't come after him with childish insults and put-downs! In all fairness, lately, I see HIM doing the same damn thing, which is more or less defensive posturing due to the unrelenting shit slung his way, I would (and do) do the same thing. As far as I'm concerned, the "regulars" here should show a measure of respect for one another...C included, he is not one of these lame ass alias duech bags who deserve it, but again...that's my opinion....and like assholes......
How about taking down the basketball hoop from the garage and mounting deer and elk antlers on the 'what used to be a backboard'?
That's what my hubby did
Sure sign a gun owner lives here. Makes a great conversation piece with the new neighbors too! : )
you will get no bashing from me miter. . . . "unrelenting shit slung his way".............minus Q...if you read down this thread you will see who slings it first......at multiple targets....kinda like a sawed off with no brains holding it.
Three police officers were also killed outright yesterday in Pittsburgh, PA., allegedly by a guy who was afraid "Obama was going to take away his gun rights".
I'm pretty certain that majority of cops waking up this morning have some pretty strong views about the civilian population owning guns en masse, let alone assault rifles (which is what this fellow apparently used).
THis horrendous incident brings to mind what happened up here a few years ago, when four Mounties were killed in Alberta by a homicidal nut.
I luv you too, man....but for sure we will NOT see eye-to-eye on this whole gun-thingy thing.
Miter, there is one thing the two of us agree: Guns are not evil, but the people owning them might be.
But there is one thing we definitely do not agree on: An armed populace.
Just a little bit of statistics. Germany has a rather restrictive gun law.
We just had a school massacre some weeks ago (which of course prompted some politicians to call for a total ban of guns), 16 dead, including the 17 year old boy who grabbed the Beretta and several hundereds shots from his dads nightstand (which is illegal in Germany, gun and amunition have to be in a safe).
The last such thing was 2006 where the only casualty was the guy running amok, he injured a few people but did not kill anybody due to inefficient weapon equipment (two muzzle loaders and a .22 rifle was all he could lay his hands on).
Before that there were 17 dead in 2002. Nothing in the 1990s...
There are about 10 million legal guns in Germany, Populace 82 million.
How does the defenseless German society compare to the armed USA?
You can not ever get the guns gone forever. They will always be here. Even banned outright, criminals will still be packin heat. As we all read the headlines, hour by hour lately you see the wrath from the stress of this economic fallout. Bug, I read about that killer in your neck of the woods, as you stated, most every thing about that was illegal, the gun, the storage, the possession, the "rather restrictive gun law".....none of those laws stopped him from killing did it? No, they just took guns from people who may have been able to intervene. Guns do not do this, severely messed up crazy people do. How fucked up in the head must you be to kill FIVE of your own kids...to get back at your cheating wife...that's off the chart looney tunes! How fucked up in the head must he have been to, want to commit suicide, but first gunna take as many as he can with him. He puts on freaking body armor and blocks the exit with his car! If they had no gun, they would still have many other options. You can't outlaw every single object that could be used to kill, we'd all end up naked and walking to work! I guess that would be the reverse angle on carrying concealed...no need to, you can see what everyone's packin!
I understand where you guys are coming from, it's just all going crazy out there, seems like if you take the guns away this won't happen. But it does, has, and will, guns or not. Life kinda sucks like that.
I am not talking about outlawing guns, I talk about reasonable rules to have them and store them.
Of course laws will not stop criminals or mad people, but making guns as readily available as kitchen knifes does add opportunities for more killing.
The idea of the armed citizen who happens to be around (and able) to stop somebody running amok is more like a dream than a reality. More likely you will end up with someone shooting someone else in a drunken fight.
LOL Bug, you and I sure like to go round and round on this don't we! Well, I'm game.....
"The idea of the armed citizen who happens to be around (and able) to stop somebody running amok is more like a dream than a reality. More likely you will end up with someone shooting someone else in a drunken fight."
That simply has not been the case here in the US. With anywhere from 800,000 to 2.5 million gun self defensive uses per year, I would say this would be considerably more reality, than dream. Yes, there have been a few incidents with drunks and legaly carried guns, but not many. Incredible, considering the US being, by far, the most heavily armed society in the world, some 90 guns for every 100 people, around 200 to 300 million guns. Almost one for every man woman and child. The latest figures show gun deaths in the US, which include....gang on gang, criminals shot by police, suicide, self defense (no innocent victim) and murder of inocents, all totaled around 30,000. Remove the one's where there is no innocent victim, suicide, 17,642, gang on gang 8,655, leaving around 4000 actual innocent victim deaths by gun per year. The FBI stat's are a bit different, they include gang and drug related deaths, thier number is 15,517. Let's compare that to a few other categories;
Per year deaths in US
12,000 accidental deaths by doctors
Automotive 42,116
Common flu 20,000
Smoking 440,000 (You looking at this one C? Hang tough!)
Non vehicular alcohol 85,000
Poor diet couch potato lifestyles 365,000
The reality of this issue is guns get more press, more hype yet they are no more, or less tragic than any other death.
John Kates, professor of constitutional and criminal law, and an esteemed criminologist, co-author of Armed: New Perspectives On Gun Control, sum's it up nicely and I quote him...
"Unfortunately, an almost perfect inverse correlation exists between those who are affected by gun laws, particularly bans, and those whom enforcement should affect. Those easiest to disarm are the responsible and law abiding citizens whose guns represent no meaningful social problem. Irresponsible and criminal owners, whose gun possession creates or exacerbates so many social ills, are the ones most difficult to disarm."
Bug, I know you say you're not for "outlawing guns" but any gun law that restricts, prohibits, tax's, etc., law abiding citizens from owning, possessing, or using a gun is just that! Owning a gun is a huge responsibility, one that requires training, proper storage and knowledge of thier whereabouts at all times!
I know you won't change your views, just like I won't. Hopefully our discourse will enlighten some who read this and may be on the fence about it. Maybe even save a life! (C, put the cig down!)
Total killings in Germany are about 2500 per year, way less than 1000 by guns and only every few years any by legal guns.
In any case, if we ever meet we sure should go to a gun range and have some fun :)
Local championship for 30m crossbow were on Saturday, though I was not quite into it since I had a big party in the evening and was in the middle of the preparations, but still was good enough to qualify for the next level :)
I came across this comment from a blogger at another website I look at sometimes:
"There is a vast left-wing conspiracy in this country! It's called the Constitution of the United States of America. Those liberals took the country away from an authoritarian monarchy, then they took slavery away from the slavers, then they took child labor away from the sweat shops, then they took the 80 hr work week away from the corporations, etc. etc. If that's not a vast left-wing conspiracy I don't know what is."
Oh jesus h christ canuck........I read you comment.....why would you repost someones else's comment? Do you agree with it? Do you believe that the democratic party was responsible for all of those?Liberal party?Left wingers? Why would you post that? Is you knowledge of American parties limited to democrats, and repubs?Do you sniff glue?Did you used to?
I DO believe that from a historical perspective, liberal/democrat parties (even those up here), have traditionally done far more good for the average working stiff, than any republican/conservative party. Conservative/republican ideologies traditionally tend to be all about slashing, cutting, out-sourcing, exploiting and very rarely about "creating" or "improving " , i.e., jobs, work programs, quality of life for the average working stiff, allowing union representation if workers so choose (which is a guaranteed right), etc, etc. Rather, they have always tended to favour the well-off, whole fall within a very defined minority who seem to control the majority of the wealth.
There is no doubt in my mind, that without the counter-balance of a liberal/democrat agenda, that the average American AND Canadian working man, would be in 100 per cent worse shape today than he already is. Besides, it sure as hell was NOT any conservative or "republican" individuals who helped create or supported a 40-hour work week, created social security, improved maternity leave for women, etc etc.....now was it?
And I'm sensitive about my glue-sniffing so don't bring it up again, thank you very much.
Miter, I completely agree with your thinking on the right to own firearms. Gun laws will never stop the criminals from owning guns, only the responsible law abiding citizens. Plus gun ownership is maybe the last recourse we citizens have to ensure our government does not become a tyranny.
As for Canuck, it is my opinion that he is usually the first to insult and berate others, the first to become irrational and rude. That is why he attracts the attention he does, not for his views, but for the manner he delivers them. I've tried very hard to be civil, without reciprocation. Respect must be earned.

On a lighter, or one might say "higher" note, yesterday was the, 38th annual "Ann Arbor Hash Bash", it was a nice sunny day. I was bored to tears, had completed all the yard work, the honey dues, picked up the dog crap and it was only just after noon. I thought maybe I would walk the pup at the bash, see what terror I could strike in the guilty stoned youth that packed the U of M diag. My dog Major is, well, lets say trained. Trained to follow hand commands, to search for certain items of my choosing. I had a blast!!!! I absolutely regret not having my trusty video cam with me, although it may have lessened my "your busted" factor. Time after time, dread locked stoners, tie dyed hippie chick wanna be's and just regular joe's, would eye me as I approached. You could tell by body language alone who was most likely "holding"....so those were the ones I messed with.
First, I would lock eyes with them, even though I was wearing shades. Walk toward them after changing direction abruptly, LOL some ran at this point, as I would head thier way, I was directing Major's nose by pointing here and there, then pointing down, his signal to search. The look on thier faces, LOL it was like they were just petrified, didn't want to move, then I would just walk on by. Just about every time I would then hear behind me sighs of relief and laughter and "oh my god, did you see that dog!" "yeah man, I though we were busted" "me too, I got all this shit in my pocket". Then, afterword, the whole thing moved down a few blocks, off UofM property to a huge street party, bands, munchies and clouds and clouds of pot smoke in the air, I think it got my dog stoned! We got home and he ate like crazy and just crashed all night! LOL One of the things that amazes me, is where and how many piercings some people get...and those are just what I can see, and all those tattoo's, on some of the hottest young ladies...I'm talking one or both arms, neck, whole back....oh man that going to be expensive to remove and you know they'll all be hating them in a few years! That's it, just tying to add something, anything, to this glumbert coma! Anyone else got a story?
Mr mitercut I believe to train a dog or bitch to scent out certain "substances" you must use the said "substance" as a training tool...am I right or wrong? . .So what did YOU do with the said "substance" after the training??????????????
I was a very happy man. My wonderful girlfriend and I had been dating for over a year, and so we decided to get married. There was only one little thing bothering me...It was her beautiful younger sister. My prospective sister-in-law was twenty-two, wore very tight miniskirts, and generally was bra-less. She would regularly bend down when she was near me, and I always got more than a nice view. It had to be deliberate, because she never did it when she was near anyone else. One day her 'little' sister called and asked me to come over to check the wedding invitations. She was alone when I arrived, and she whispered to me that she had feelings and desires for me that she couldn't overcome. She told me that she wanted me just once before I got married and committed my life to her sister.
Well, I was in total shock, and couldn't say a word. She said, "I'm going upstairs to my bedroom, and if you want one last wild fling, just come up and get me." I was stunned and frozen in shock as I watched her go up the stairs. I stood there for a moment, then turned and made a beeline straight to the front door. I opened the door, and headed straight towards my car.
Lo and behold, my entire future family was standing outside, all clapping! With tears in his eyes, my father-in-law hugged me and said, We are very happy that you have passed our little test. "We couldn't ask for a better man for our daughter. Welcome to the family." And the moral of this story is: Always keep your condoms in your car.
'Preciate your support, Skids. Wish I could live in a black-and-white world, but for me it has always been a black frame, white certer and shades of gray from one to the other....so few things are absolutes and most things are open to question/judgement. I really think that life is that way.
Really Nice Post!! Thanks friend! I am happy to see this. Any way, I know another fantastic site www.uploaded.tv where you may earn money by uploading your own photos, music and videos. Its really nice and I wish it would be helpful for you.
Did you notice that the Binghamton incident was perpetrated by an immigrant, and not someone unhappy with immigrants? You've likely already read the opinions of the officials at the scene....that he blamed his inability to keep a job on the his poor english language skills. He was ethnically Chinese but was raised in Viet Nam. He took language classes at the facility that was his target. He was laid off recently, and it appears he'd lost at least one other job, perhaps more. The report suggests his motive was "loss of face", which I believe is a major aspect of life in his culture. Suicide was his ultimate purpose, but revenge before dying is what motivated his indiscriminate slaughtering of those attending English classes at the American Civic Association building.
As to your Turkish aeronaut, at least he didn't hurt anyone. Be happy to trade you one of our nutzos for him.
canuck - welcome back! youo are the saddest man in the world.
"here's how i've spent my spare time"
what??!! if glumbert isn't working, you have to find something else to do? why don't you try boning mrs canuck, if you can stop making yourself sick?
haw haw haw!!!
Don't worry C, he's got another effigy video coming, and I won't leave you out of it this time. If all goes as planned, I'll have it up later on today. Let me just say, this pain in the ass will get one of his own!
Although, if truth be told, I'm surprised those pursuing F-16's didn't shoot down this idiot, and simply call it a day (especially in this post-9/11 enviroment).
I disagree with that bug. You simply wait for the Cessna to be over nothing, fire a single missile, and head for home. Not like a Cessna is gonna dodge it. The remains after a missile hit to a Cessna would likely do little damage to the ground. They let him live, simple as that.
Obah, I can vouch for that statement!!! I was married to one for 23 years...well the last 12 of it were the veg days. So, I know many other veg heads as well, most of whom are that way not for health issues, but for the animal angle. These people or at least the majority of these people have so many health problems and take so many supplements it unreal! I could go on and on, but wont (this time) it's a part of my life I would rather forget!
Off I go for some video making, going to really rattle some windows today, wish I had that second cam for reverse/multiple angle shots. I'm going to have to hit the dirt (snow) on this one, hopelfully I won't need to call YOU for the bail money!!!
How stupid of me...........can't open the link, but can collect the meaning from the other posts.
SOX RULE ! Look and learn.
(Winstons were my faorite...sort of rebellion against the Marlboro onslaught, trend-wise. Killers all. I might live to 100 elsewise...now hoping for next year. Not nice.)
GO CANUCK...........he's a non-smoker, y'know. Hate him or love him...he don't smoke no more.
I smoked nothing but dope for 26 years. Then I decided to give it up.
After a week, I realized the "real me" was insane, so I started again.
Best decision I ever made.
Giving up smoking anything is madness.
Good God! This place needs a good boot up the anus these days. Beats me how anyone has the energy to constantly insult another human being. Believe me, life's too short.
To those who asked, I am pretty well. I dip in and out occasionally, but every time I log on I see these nasty children playing their idiotic games. Depressing - drivel even.
Un freaking believable!!!!!!!!!!!!! No sound on video cam...AGAIN!!!!! It is so time for a new one!!! GRRRRRR!!!!!! At least I noticed it BEFORE filming this time. Sorry C, you're going to have to wait a bit longer.
Oh oh, all is not lost yet...I checked my warranty and it, of course, expired last week!!! So I figure wtf, might as well open her up and fix it myself. First off, one question comes to mind, what micro fingered workers they must have to build these things! After about a half hour of tearing it down, I find the internal mic flat cable was loose! Yippie it works! Back out I go!!!
One other thing, in honor of Arseface, I will change my "story line" just a bit to give him a, slightly altered, mitercut version of his want for someone getting a... "good boot up the anus" LOL!
OK, it's done. Now the big question of the day is....will YouTube show it, they've gotten all pissy about ANY music being copyrighted. If they don't I'll have to figure something out.
All I'll say is, don't mess with the Canuck when he's trying to quit cigarettes!
(You own live hand grenades?? Fuuuuuuck meeeee......)
I shall forever honor the the name of Mitercut!!!
LOLOLOL!!
P.S.
I ain't even gonna remind you about the Tigers losing again to the Jays for the second time in a row yesterday...not after this STUPENDOUS production!! LOL!
Seriously, dude....thank you a million times for that little ditty.
haha......Oh wait, thats sad. 35mpg vs 35 miles....on a single full charge? That is if you don't run into a pothole during that trip. Ah shit.....ya know whats really sad is there are dumber people in elected offices maker bigger decisions than this little P.O.S. . . . What happend to this place?
They also need to get rid of that senile old fart Lutz, that was re-hired by Wagner because back when he was designing the stagecoach, 'he was great'.
Not that his age is the problem really, but this company needs to fire everyone earning over 500k a year, and try building JUST ONE practical QUALITY car.
The problem is not with anyone EARNING 500k, the problem is with those guys who just simply GET 500k or more for doing nothing or even hurting he company.
I heard the Canadian who discovered GhostNet say on Monday that the US was not targeted in any of the tracking they did. So I guess this has changed either for technical or political reasons.
I remember a report about 7 years ago that explosives had been planted at many critical points along transmission lines by Russian agents, and that they could be set off when given the command (it was unknown how they would be triggered).
As for your little baseball broadside, this was a sympathetic gift given to the lowly Tigers (who, I might add, have nevah been the same since the departure of dear ol' Sparky Anderson).
They shall crush the Tigers, the Bosox AND the Yankees at their next meeting.
But my BIGGEST thrill will be (and the wifey gets a kick outta this one!) will be later this month, when they go against and WIPE OUT the Kansas City Royals; I'm still holding a grudge over the '85 ALCS series.
Just opened the page and on the top right corner I see the following ad: Find A Gay Grandpa Meet Local Gay Grandpas Today. View Profiles 100% Free. Join Now! www.GayMatureDating.com
Seriously, how tasteless can Google Adwords be? At least five single malts now to get rid of the picture this projected...
What is really sad about this story is that only one person died in the accident, a baseball player, and something the media labels "two others". It would appear that the "others" were not human, and of no importance to anyone, and just the stuff to fill graves. The media barley makes not of them.
This story and all of the others like it, is exactly why I despise idolatry in all of its forms. The American news media is just garbage at best, and just propaganda as usual.
That was awesome Bug! I need to get a cam like that and put it on my dog! Maybe attach one to a deer so I can see where the big bucks hide! No wait! Put one on a rocket and fire it at some friends and watch em flee LOL! Oh the possibilities!
seeing as how glumbert is finished, here's my suggestion. why doesn't canuck just hold open house and invite us all for drinks and food? then his wife could gang bang mrs canuck and go home happy.
haw haw haw!!!
Huh??!! Whats a matter cant put sentences together? Must be from that grenade up your ass LOL LOL LOL Which by the way..miter dude..that was fucking funny as shit!!!!!!!!!! You are fuckin crazy miter dont you know when mr. grenades pin is pulled he's no longer your friend..where the hell do you get grenades anyway I could use a few. Only thing missing was all the shit qlanitpimp is full of flying out LOL LOL LOL FTW!!
LOL, thanks a-harasser..I think. Come on guys, the grenade wasn't real, or should I say it's been demilled. When a real grenades spoon is released, you hear an immediate loud snap or pop as the fuse is activated. Here's a good example.....
......the "hardware" of choice these days is the MK11 SWS (Sniper Weapon System), which is based on the super scary accurate (.5 inch MOA) SR-25 automatic rifle. This rifle was built to meet Navy Seals requirements, has a 7.62 round which will reach out and accurately "touch someone" at 1500 yards. It sports a 20 round mag, QD scope rings, Leupold Vari-X Mil-dot scope (night vision scoped as well), Harris swivel bas bipod on a Knight's mount, QD sound suppressor mounted to the 20 inch floating barrel and rail system, with, of course, back up iron sights (which may have been used in this extremely close shot). This rifle is not fully automatic.
Specs are:
7.62 caliber
15.3 lbs. (empty)
45.5 inches long
Effective range 1500 ft.
Rate of fire 750 per minute
Velocity at muzzle 2951 fps
Mags 20/10/5
Some truly fine marksmen all things considered....moving target, moving platform, night-vision scoped, very close proximity, extremely stressful situation, three shot simultaneous shots...shit you can't make this stuff up for a movie!
This is what America needs right now, something to be proud of (for a day or two anyway), and we have many "things" to be proud of on this deal!
I wonder how it feels if you are a gang of four pirates in a life boat run out of fuel surrounded by a frigate, a destroyer, and an amphibic assault vessel (aka small carrier). Outgunned does not exactly describe the situation...
Quite right. The bad thing is that this solved only the one situation, there are more people and ships still in the hands of the pirates and the pirates are now more likely to kill anyone getting in their way.
The only solution would be to clean up the whole fucked up country.
"The only solution would be to clean up the whole fucked up country."
America already tried that. Maybe its Germany's or Canada's turn to clean up Somalia? I'd just as soon drop laser guided bombs on each and every Somali pirate ship or base.
U.S. and Canadian forces went to Somalia (as we did) in the early nineties; We have one thing in common with this: niether one of our countries accomplished jack-shit. We pulled out after some of our guys tortured and killed a Somali teenager; you guys pulled out after a botched attempt to capture a Somali warlord, and lost 19 troops in the process.
Notice the photogenic qualities one of our soldiers has, when that photo was taken? Isn't that something for all of us to be proud of? Golly, what a hero he was.
Please become more aware of who is at your northern frontier.
Ok, that was a significant contribution. I found it amusing that our forces referred to Canadian medical evacs as "the body snatchers". But quite the nasty racist incident, which along with the Blackhawk down incident, I'm sure caused serious harm to coalition / Somali relations, probably along the lines of Abu Graib.
listen canuck - everybody knows you're a moron. just don't prove it by these stupid posts.
here's the real scenario
1. the world's only superpower uses hitmen to murder three desperate men from one of the world's poorest countries who were only trying to make some spare cash. big deal! bet you wish you could have seen their brains flying everywhere.
2. even the uncle tom obama is praising these guys. that should tell you something. god - america stinks, and so do pathetic vermin like you who ass lick the u.s.
Since I know you're only trying to yank a chain here, I won't even counter with the truth. Besides, I'm done with lunch and need to get back to that fire escape I'm building. I love building in the middle of campus in Ann Arbor, all those hot little college girls walking by.....mmm mmm!
If you're trying to make your living stealing from others what doesn't belong to you, (while risking others lives at the same time) you deserve a cruel fate.
Next time yer down this way holla at me, I'll wipe your punk ass across this town bitch.
I aint fucking around neitha....I'll fuck yer ass up. This aint just type halfwit.
We can meet any place ya like....damn yer a fucking moron....ya wife still with cha? or did she sew up her pus and move to Greenland? Fuck man...you really are fucking stupid, I the type of man that'll kick it off anywere you dense half brained fuck twit. And I aint givin ya attitude..This is the way it is ya fuck...ya stupid fuck....some one aught ta slap the shit out of your mother fer not drowning the mistake your father made before he cut his dick off in shame. What?
Any more?
Oh, and I can't help that you guys have an undertrained, underdeveloped, weak ass military.
Second, let's try to see if a worthless piece of easily-intimidated dogshit like yourself can scrape up enough balls to say that again, after reading this.
Think you can manage it?
Thirdly, tell me where you live so I can kick the living fuck outta you, just for the sheer sport and enjoyment of it (although I know you won't, but hey---it's nice to think about).
Her death brings the total of Canadian soldiers killed to 117 out of 120 they sent since Sep 11. Altough it's mostly because they have an undertrained, useless army full of unwanted housewifes. They still use those numbers to beat up on there US cousins
No....wait...I'm actually glad you typed all that out.
Now I'm gonna wait and see how many folks call you out on it (much as they've done with me on occassion, whenever they feel I've "crossed a line"). And if they stay silent, or feel there's anything even REMOTELY redeeming or humorous about a sorry sack of low-class shit like yourself....well, now we're gonna see.
C - I think most of us purposely ignore the Q wart. As you have often noted, this sort of scut rants solely to elicit response...deny it that recognition and it becomes merely a noisome twit. It does have one value, however....by comparison to Q's base mutterings here, most all other posters appear to be highly sophisticated mental giants.
Canuck is typically overreacting by taking this comment "To bad Canada has a useless army" way too personally, but I can understand that.
But obahtafucur, you stepped way over the line calling that fallen Canadian solder an "unwanted housewife". That unwanted housewife volunteered to help avenge America against our enemy the Taliban. She volunteered to go overseas and fight to protect our way of life, did you?
She's not even American, yet she gave her life helping to defeat our enemy. Show some fucking respect, she's earned it. You on the other hand, have just seriously degraded yourself.
obahtafucur, I may have overreacted. But disrespecting Canuck and disrespecting Canada's fallen soldiers are two very different things. I'm not defending Canuck, I agree he can be an ass. I'm defending the honor of that young soldier that can no longer defend herself, because she died fighting our enemy. Maybe you got too careless in your hatred of Canuck, but I thought you knew better.
Hey, I am pretty good natured most of the time. But if some one threatens to beat the living fuck out of me...........and all I got is a keyboard.......I'll hit 'em ta make it hurt. Below the belt? How? I am totally aware of the reasons they are over there. I didn't mean to start a pep rally for 'em on this site, but I'm sure they appreciate it. In other words I wasn't goofing on them. I goofing on canuck. Using housewife as the punchline instead of I'll beat you up.
Bug, I saw this the other night when it was on, I'm still luvin it! I used to dabble in "rockets" the home built type. Think I may get back into building some biguns....now if only I could get some of those rocket motors they used in this video....
Numaga seems kinda weird, and so few users so far, the site may have a chance to be more like Glumbert than youtube, and they have a moderator, so it maybe too quiet and restrictive for the Youtube types.
I noticed after joining that the Break.com crowd are mostly just like youtube crowd, so I don't feel bad they kicked me out.
Listen up you stinking maggots. . It seems you just don't get, well I've been appointed to inform ya...yer days are numbered. You would cry, you scream if you knew half the things I seen...please PLEASE just do as I say....Repent, and leave your evil ways!
OK, we're back to bickering I see...again. I'll try to start up my "tell a life story" deal....again. Funny, you would think some here would have a few good ones to tell, with all the diversity in location's and personalities.
So then.....
Back in the day, mid 80's, a "friend" was into building aircraft, both new, WWI (Bristol F2B) and WWII (North American AT-6, Douglas C-47), restoration and recreation for the Hollywood movie people. The main "man" in all of this was an x nam vet copter pilot (now deceased, damn those flat spins) and was somewhat of a rogue. He formulated a plan to "get some" hard, if not impossible, to find parts that were needed on an aircraft he owned. The unique place to find these parts, was a DEA impound where they kept seized and impounded drug aircraft in Florida. He and "someone else" drove all night from New Mexico in a (throw away) junker car in case of the need to ditch it, snuck in to find the parts and found that the aircraft in question was only in need of a battery to fly. So instead of grabbing some parts, he decided to get it running and fly it out of there! Now, of course this wasn't me, but I'll tell the rest of the story from the perspective of one of the participants.
We snuck in under the fence, it was totaly dark about 12 am, we found the battery we needed and changed it out. There was fuel in the tanks, we were ready to go. As the engine's gauges came into the green we got out onto the runway, never even stopping bouncing across taxiways and probably alligators, lining up on the runway we see all hell breaking loose up at the tower end of the airport/impound, which was on the opposite end of the runway we were on. We could see some sort of security heading out after us, all we had on was the belly strobe so I guess that's what they were seeing. We pushed the throttles in and started our roll out, got airborne, and....we were not getting full power!!!! Bad gas? Clogged filter? No time to do a damn thing about it. We did the wing and a prayer thing, as we flew just over the top of the now several security vehicles that had come charging down the runway. We were only 10 or so feet off the ground when it became apparent, in the moon light, that there was a wall of palm trees ahead, and we were not gaining much altitude! Funny how calm I felt, I knew we would make it, and we did, I could see palm trees zipping by in the belly strobe light below us. We flew all the way back to NM under the radar (a whole other story in it's self) to land on a secluded two lane paved road next to his storage unit he owned. These were the day's before cell phones so we had to call our "buddies" in after we landed. After about an hour after thier arrival, these guys had completely disassembled this aircraft and were in the process of putting it into storage when....the cops came. They wanted to know WTF we were doing out there, we told them just loading plane parts into storage, but they weren't buying it. They demanded proof of ownership or title, for which "the boss man" whipped out the title to his identical aircraft (also in parts in the same storage unit) and grabbed something from that one with a vin number as "proof". Satisfied, they left!
Oh the good ole days, fun while they lasted!I mean that's what my "friend" says anyway!
Miter-Sounds like somthing out of snake eater, fun. . CBitch.......yo ass needs ta shut it........or how bout this dickhead...put us all on what you call R.S. . .
Miter....keep telling YOUR stories and no one else is likely to want to follow....gad, you've had such a unique history. I mean, I could tell the emotionally draining tale of how I, being on scholarship as an English major, drew an "F" in a Shakespeare course first quarter exam, and the tense drama that followed as I engaged the professor in taut discussions of the
Bard's imagery during the second quarter in a touchingly heartfelt effort to sway his next grade......but I am guessing that this drama might fall a bit short of the interest level you have already set for personal storytelling.
Just guessing. Can't hardly wait for your next "chapter".
I'm thinking the person that does the daily video updating has been arrested for some crime, can't post bail, and is awaiting trial. So here we are, just waiting for the SOB to get out.
.....or this person runs the whole show from a computer in his basement, he died a few weeks back of a drug overdose and is right now, at this moment, a rotting corpse hunched over the keyboard.
.....or this same person, while sitting in his basement glumbert control center, heard a knock at the door, answering it he see's three midgets and a Great Dane....no I can't go there....
