Maybe next, they can move on to institutionalized, fucndamentalist/extremist "christian" and "muslim" zealots (two sides of the same coin, so to speak, one being no better than the other).
It's not just glumbert, it's everywhere. Thanks to the recent media attention people are slowly starting to realize what a crock of shit Scientology is.
I think good 'ole Tom posting his video about his "religion" is helping people realize this more than anything.
Ba ha. Now that's how I like to see people rip on scientology. Point out the ridiculousness of the "religion" as opposed to protesting with signs like "Honk if you hate scientology". Good stuff.

You know, thinking about this for a minute, how is Scientology different from any other "religion"? I mean come on, we were put here by "aliens", how is that any loonier than being made in the image of a "God"? Or Christ being born from a "virgin"? Really, It's all ignorance! To wit, there's more "proof" of aliens than a "God"!
Wait 2000 years, maybe by then scientology has become as credible as other religions. Though these days it is not as easy any more to get rid of information as it was in the days when the library of Alexandria was lost.

mitercut, it's much "loonier" because it was created by some Sci-Fi Author, not an individual seen as divine. As a matter of fact, many of the accounts in the Bible have been proven as Historical Fact, and the more we discover in the way of Anthropology, the more we find physical, scientific evidence supporting Biblical events. Not to mention that the three major religions of this world all share the same God, the same Prophets, and many of the same texts. It is kind of difficult to believe that such a following could all be wrong.

Historical research shows support for many of the events described in the bible except for several of the core events i.e. Jesus. Interestingly there are no accounts of that whole story in the roman history. So likely those events were rather unimpressive and later versions of the story overhyped. After all it took decades before the first written accounts of Jesus were generated.
The roots of scientology are much less remote in time and documentation is much more reliable these days. If you look at certain phases in the history of christianity scientology looks rather nice and cozy (only in comparison though).
But in any case: Did you ever read anything from Hubbard? He definitely had to either find honest work or found a sect, his writing was too bad to make a good living...
