That sucks!!!! That pilot tried so hard to find ot if they were friendly or not!! Higher ups should know where the friendlies are!! My CO told our gunner to fire up some of our own tanks when I was Desert Storm, he should have know they were our tanks and not enemy. Thank God noone was hurt.
My god, I feel so bad for all of them. The men on the ground for obvious reasons, but also the men in the air who in the heat of battle, had quick decisions to make and the wrong information handed to them. Everyone lost that day. I have been fired upon by friendlies while in Baghdad on mission. None of us were hurt and we were all pretty angry afterwards, but we realized that it was not the men doing the firing, but the men on the radio who told them that our element was no where near there. These things will happen; it's tragic, but it happens.
