Brigham Young University clearly knows how to teach its students the foundations of a free society.

It's possible you'll find an example of this -- somewhere -- that the Democrats have done. But really, the Bush-Cheney '04 campaign was notorious for setting up protest zones that were miles away from campaign rallies, and forcing protestors to limit thier activity to those areas -- all in the name of security. Not so with the Kerry campaign in '04, with the College Republicans getting within shouting distance (though they were mainly shouted down). People were even getting kicked out of Bush campaign events because they were wearing t-shirts with protest messages printed on them. Pathetic.

...well put? A delusional belief that there's a difference between democrat and republican is...well put? I will disagree with not only azegada but with the video as well. Believing that the world should be a better place and trying to voice your opinion makes you a better citizen than those who sit by and let their rights get stolen by no good theocrats. Being 'liberal' is not 'fantasy' and being 'republican' is not 'reality'. Those who believe in such idiocy are most of what the core problem is in our society. Panzies that do not stand up for their own countries TRUE values.

"Who Cares"...briliant point of view azegada. While our country goes to hell you just sit there and worry about your own 'precious' life. Those of us who are grown, mautre adults and care about the welfare of our fellow neighbors will try to overcome the increased taxation that your type of people cause on the rest of the country. Thank you, at least, for creating a bit of a challenge as being a roadblock to intelligence and the betterment of society.

However, I'm sorry, I agree with what the protestors were saying and all and they should have had their signs returned at the end of the school day, but, they were on private property and allowing the administrators not to control what happens on their property goes against what the protesters are protesting: Freedom. I mean, the same occurs on high school grounds as well (college is still a school environment) meaning you automatically loose a lot of rights. Now, public property (IE sidewalks, civic structures, etc). That's just fascist to try and enforce the free speech zones. And, of course, apathetic (and just pathetic) stupid people, no pointing fingers, will just sit by and let these things happen to our country without pause or reflection to think what effect that will have on ourself s or our fellow or future neighbor.

PS. It is a shame that those people went through all that trouble just to have their signs taken and be pushed around. A shame, but not necessarily 'wrong'.

I really hate people like this, they should be dropped off in the middle of Africa with no money and whomever makes it back gets to carry a sign home.

Leave it to religious nuts to be the ones who hate freedom of speech. I really doubt the VP is going to be that fragile that some college kids ranting things is in need of suppression.

isn't byu a private college? so they get to decide what happens on their property? but not like me deciding to claim FIRST. too

Screw that BS....anywhere I happen to be standing is a free speech zone, made so simply because I'm standing there. To Quote Michael Badnarik "I don't have the right to free speech because the Constitution says I do, I have the right to free speech because the Government isn't big enough to shut me up!"
