The way I figure it, when you (and other posters) compare this to "eating meat", I'm sorry, bud....I can't make the connection. Y'see, when we "eat meat", it's for a specific reason and due to a specific method: we do it to live, due to our carniverous nature, and it's done within a structured system to accomplish that. But this puppy? Are either of those soldiers going to eat him? Are they going to wear its fur to keep warm? Are they going to use its crushed bones as tools? See what I'm saying? So what was the goddamn point of this? Honestly.
And even when if you've seen the more horrific ways/pictures people have died in Iraq (and I have), you can still chalk that up to humans vs. humans. It's still awful, but it's fair game. I think the revulsion/outrage of most decent folks on this thread, stems from the fact that this helpless, small animal was not only killed for no good reason.....but mostly due to just that: it was helpless. Period. And to some of our jaded, cynical friends out there, I'm sorry to tell you....but that small creature was very much ALIVE, when this young man did what he did. I guarantee you that.
However, even though I know and appreciate how enraged people are over these images, I think Freetobe hit the nail on the head, when she said to be careful in not tarring ALL soldiers with the same brush on this one. Difficult to do, yes; but true.

During the passing montage of pictures, there's one that comes up, showing an American soldier feeding a couple of stray dogs.....as well as another of a Yank soldier carrying a wounded infant in his arms, appearing to be visibly traumatized by whatever happened to that child.
In short, I ask that ALL keep this small viewpoint in mind, and avoid painting the young men over there, with the same awful brush.
Having said all of that, this is a VERY disturbing video, and I doubt very much if I have the fortitude to view it again. If there is still a functioning chain-of-command left over there, then I'd like to believe that there will be consequences for this particular soldier.

Yes, it is pretty sad when many more of these small creatures are abused by senseless nutjobs here at home; but again, I think peoples' revulsion at this clip stems from the fact that this particular cruelty was peformed by a lad in UNIFORM, i.e., "He's someone in uniform, and is supposed to reprsent US, and OUR values, and act responsibly therein." So when he dosen't....people will flip out (and deservedly so). I cannot recall seeing any images of, say, a cop, or a firefighter, or a paramedic, or even just a lousy security guard (rent-a-cop) committing this kind of act. But, in my opinion all of the audio does not match the visual events, but seems to have been added at a later date. Perhaps this video is a simple act of compassion by a few men of removing a dead dog off the road, and someone has modified the audio for some purpose of entertainment or propaganda.

Ok- so, people on this site seem to have mainly two separate opinions to express... They either want to give the big "fuck-you-and-die" spiel to the soldier, while others say that viewers of this video should look beyond what the soldier has done and realize that these soldiers can sometimes get the lines between war and typical life blurred... Well- I have an opinion. Not that it will really end up mattering to most. I have to first say that I've seen A LOT of REALLY disturbing things happen in my life. I've seen people animal death, human death, natural disasters that have probably devestated hundreds of thousands... And- I'm not really a naturally 'sensitive' person when it comes to these things... I'm not easy to be shaken, or to cry, etc... As scary as it sounds... I'm pretty numb to a lot of these types of subject matters, at times- even indifferent.. (as scary or horrible as that may sound.) But- its honest. But, ultimately- I think its important that when people watch this video, they need to realize- that plain and simply: This is NOT okay. Whether the marine is a war-tarnished head-case, or if he's just a bona-fide asshole with no couth. (NOTE: the puppy is NOT dead. I only watched this vid once, and from what I could dredge up in my memory, the pup looked pretty still the whole time. I assumed possibly he was already dead. hello...you can see that this is not a fake! he is holding on to the puppy the entire time and the camera follows his hand with the puupy in it untill he throws it and the yelps get further away untill you see the poor innocent puppy hit the ground... He & his buddy...we'll just call them the "puppy killers" should be dis-honorably discharged and charged with a felony cruelty to animals suit!!!
