Inane. Is this the most exciting thing that happens in baseball? Thank God we Brits have REAL games, like cricket, shove ha'penny, cheese rolling....
Oh well, maybe baseball isn't so bad after all.
It's the bounce that gets ya Gymyg... Baseballs have no seam, cricket balls do. Makes for fun when you're facing something that moves in the air as well as off the ground.
Check out Curtley Ambrose, Courtney Walsh, or a bunch of other west indies bowlers...
The 'rawalpindi express' broke 100mph as well - mind you he was also removed from the pakistan team for a number of reasons, one of which may be have been steroid abuse. None of that in baseball (ahem)...
:-)
Baseball is really a game of rounders which came from Ireland. This explains why beer is an essential part of spectating
Cricket did not originate from Ireland, but beer is still a vital component of spectating. Also as the west indies, africans, indians, bangladeshis, sri lankans, kiwis, aussies and even the dutch all play the game there IS one common non-beer factor involved. Marajiuna
Mixed with beer it is an ideal way of spending up to 3 days watching a bunch of guys 200m away play a game which you need to go home and watch on TV in order to see the details
ps Bob Wolmer was the Pakistan cricket coach. He was found dead in his hotel room hours after the pakistan team lost the world cup finals - obviously a dangerous sport (if you're asllegedly involved in betting fixes...)
