I've noticed that American audiences seem to call out "whoooo heeeee hoooooooo" and "wheeee hooooweeeeee eee whooo", and also "whooeeeeee wheeeeoooooooo" a lot. Why is this? What does it all mean?
Its american english "whoooooo heeeeee hoooooooo" actually means "you're so awesome" , "wheeeeee hooooweeeeee eee whooo"(pronounced weeeooooo, the h is silent, means " that guy rocks" and finally "whoooeeeeeewheeeoooooo" is actually aleutian for "Oh fuck i forgot to get a babysitter" PEACE
It is a generic phrase that can be applied to a wide variety of scenarios. The actual translation is "i want to sound cool but don't have the intelligence, creativity or maturity to display my unwarranted excitement in a more specififc manner"
I hope this explanation makes it easy to understand why it is heard so much in the USA.
Actually try it yourself-- you'll find you go hoarse much more quickly if you're just screaming. "woooeoooh" saves your vocal cords. Also when it started only cool people were doing it, so it made you unique... just like everyone else.
Nice piece, often the Daily Show interns put something lame together, this was really good, because every college student has been offered free swag for getting another credit card.
