The idea that the US was founded on "christian principles" is a myth put out by christians with an agenda. Some of the mean who founded the US were christian some were not. The US was founded to leave room for freedom of religion not to show preference to one in particular. Religion mixing into every other facet of life is not a good thing. One only need look at the middle east to see what damage unchecked religion does to a society. Its time people stop teaching their kids that "faith" is some kind of virtue and that their invisable man is more real and holy than what can be experienced in their lives. The US will only be hurting itself if it continues down this path of blurring the lines between religion, politics, and society.
How about I force you to listen to what my religion is all about. I don't think you'd like that at all. Well, that's how I feel about listening to Chuck try to force feed me his. People should be FREE to worship whatever god they feel they need to....at home or at their church. It's a right. But don't bring into the government. There are too many religions for that. Not to mention the non religious people, who are as just as good (or bad) as any religious person.
I just lost ALL respect for chuck norris (not that I had any in the beginning). It still amazes me that people devote their entire life to an invisible guy and a vacation village in the sky. As David Cross would say, "the bible is the most D
Im willing to bet that Chuck doesn't give two shits about religion or what we think of it. Im sure that he did this spot simply because he was paid to do so.
So all you posters don't want your kids learning about the most popular book of all time, huh? Why? Because ignorance of this book seems to be bliss to you, huh? Well, I want my kids to know about all important books throughout time and want them to know about them so that they can make that decision about religion that you posters so desparately want to preserve and protect.
Why are you so anti-educational? (I realize that there is significant room for abuse of this particular book by teachers, but don't isolate your children from knowledge----it will only make them bitter later). Maybe you posters are suffering from that bitterness.......
The Bible is not educational. It is religious in nature and it can be nothing else. It is technically possible to study it only in the philosophical sense, but the Bible is clearly not a history book or a work of literature.
