remember when bikes where transportion, it would take me ten childhoods to get that good.
I use to have a great time watching my kids race BMX until the first trip to the ER.
Pretty good rap too.

From what I watched of it the kid is good, stands out at what he does. But I feel the same way about this stuff as canuck feels about cat videos. Seen enough of them.
randal, you are a deep thinker! I was so concerned with keeping track of the movie staying in line with Stephen's vision, I missed a lot of the things you mentioned!
For the record, I think your scenario 1 and scenario 2 both played a part in the movie, but that you could come up with them is pretty cool. After reading your comments, I realized both elements were present. I will add my own little thought though. I think they deliberately went for "shock value" at the end, Hollywood style. Drag that little extra emotion out of you, with a vengeance. Stephen was much more subtle.
I hadn't thought about the "sacrifice" angle, but it certainly could be interpreted that way. After that, everything was all better, just as the "crazy" woman predicted. Hmmmm.....
I'd like to see the movie again now, with a better insight.
Later randal!
