because he sent jesus to die for our sins, and if we don't truly accept jesus' sacrifice, we continue to carry our own sins, which send us to hell. DUH
Religion is basic to all humans. Not having some sort of religion is a sign of bad mental health. Whether or not you agree with this doesn't change that it is a fact.
I believe in God but not religion and would very much like to know where it is that you got your "facts" because I have done much research into this field and nowhere did I find these "facts"
"Religion is basic to all humans." I'll agree with that. Religion is the earliest and most simplistic response to that most human of questions, "Why are we here?". It gives people a sense of meaning and purpose that was lacking in earlier periods of human history. Now, however, other answers are available. Now we know how humans came about, and the concept of a god is no longer necessary to explain why things happen in the world.
"Not having some sort of religion is a sign of bad mental health." This is just blind intolerance. Try to understand a point of view before declaring that something is wrong with the person that is different.
"Whether or not you agree with this doesn't change that it is a fact." I won't try to convince you. You've shown yourself to be irrational, and little can be done to change a radical.
The only requirement for everlasting life is that you believe that you are a sinner and that Christ died on the cross so that you may have ever lasting life. We as true Christians do not hate atheist only the sin that you are committing by denying God. And to be an American for a second I do have to say however if you are in the minority as an atheist or whatever the case may be you have no right in this country to change our laws or customs that were made by the majority or by elected officials who were elected by the people any thought otherwise would be socially unethical, and if you don't like our laws or believe in the system of our Untied Stated you are free to leave this country.
"you have no right in this country to change our laws or customs that were made by the majority or by elected officials who were elected by the people"
You are right. As atheists are not anywhere near a majority or powerful minority, there is no way that they as a group can bring about change to the laws or customs of the country.
However, be careful of the difference between a lack of rights by coincidence and a lack of rights by design. If the numbers do not work out in a group's favor, that's just coincidence. If there are laws preventing a group from exercising rights, then there is an injustice that should be changed regardless of the numbers.
So based on your own words, it is ok to discriminate against a person based on thier beliefs if the majority agrees. What a fucktard.
You obviously lack the ability to look at a situation objectively. I was born and raised as a roman catholic. I was baptized, recieved communion, and went to church every sunday after my parents got a divorce (lol), and yet I still find your thoughts to be downright atrociuos. Please stop giving anyone with a faith a bad name you moronic asshat.
P.S. I had a completely amicable departure form the church. I am even still friends with the father of my no ex-church.
This video makes many strong points. Unfortunately for this nation, the comments above completely prove his point. The ignorance is repulsive. This video is basic fact. Blue laws exist as do the "in god we trust" now on our currency...as does the laws withholding people from office who declare themselves atheists. These are extremely unsettling, sad facts.
I was an Atheist for several years but after my first child was born I knew God existed. I believe we need a separation of Church and State. We need to respect everyone's beliefs and not infringe upon their rights to those beliefs. Atheist should be trusted because they are honest enough to admit they don't believe (maybe someday they will). As far as the different religions, I believe their are many paths to God.
