Bad science embarrasses good science and men of good sense more than it does people of faith, and I'm afraid all the math, all the physics and all the logic/common sense/reason are on the side of those who are beginning to see your side as a giant. My green habits i look upon as being respectful towards the earth (God made heaven and earth so thats got to be good)
My consumer habits where i use fairtrade i look at as being humane (Humanity is a good thing right, probably promoted by God)
My charity i look upon as being charitable, in an imbalanced world it may alleviate some western guilt if looked upon cynically (But charity is a good thing if done for the right reason and not self recognition, which god would recognize right ?)
As for the Hitler or the government comment, i don't see how my decision to carry out the above has anything to do with bush/hitler, ok my actions are based upon scientific evidence/theory, but also common sense surely

The large problem that I (and many, many others) have is with the modern Environmental Movement. It has created false catastrophes and exagerrated claims for about 40 years. I am still waiting for any global prediction that has been promoted by this movement to come true or even approach it.
It was your first post that was silly...patently silly. If you believe the catastrophic predictions of the Leafy Greens, then more pwer to you. But, keep your (ultimately) leftist definitions of compassion and charity out of the gubment...which is one of the larger points made by those opposing Al Gore's vain rise in notoriety, if not in influence. I brought Hitler into the conversation because most the global warming crowd (Gore has actually asked for) that dissent be stifled. That's happening everywhere, and it was exactly the same tactic used by the Nazis in Germany 1934-1938 or so against the professional and science classes. Most of America is more green than you probably know, except some notable rich people, Gore and Hollywood crowd among them, who came up with the carbon offset credits to cover their excesses. One generation after Lenin, even while Stalin was alive, party leaders were using similar logic to justify stretch limos and private dachas, i.e. the creation of a higher class of equals among equals....citizen Robespierre. It's a law of nature, in other words...human nature. Within one generation bureaucrats totally forget or subordinate the mission that put them in power and they gather power, and the accoutrements of power unto themselves. That's a law. That's why, with all its warts, i like the current system, where rich people from time to time get to moon poor schmos like you and me. I came up in the environmental movement in the 70s. I was in all the papers, and am still one. Between 1969- and the early nineties, air and water quality, including (especially) pollution in this country improved by app 95%. You can look up the exact numbers, I'm doing this acapella. Since that time all the political currency of the left has been toward spending, in real; dollars, 3x-4x the money it took to get hat 90% drop to get another 1% drop? The Global warming scam is just one more attempt, only from a different direction. Why? Welll, my own, based on experience in the past and common sense, is that cleaner air, less fuel or other carbon emissions has nothing to do with it...but political control does. I approve of anyone who wants to be green in whatever way floats your boat. Again, I'm as green as they get. But i will not condone the tearing up the US Constitution and handing our country over to a bunch of science-based politicians (talk about your oxymorons) and bureaucrats because I know what will happen. We already have 75 years of proof. All you have to do, as I did in the early 90s is fly out of Frankfurt and fly east. At the Polish border the sky, at 35,000 feet turned dark with pollution. I didn't see the sky for 2 months in Russia and Ukraine even though there were no clouds! Anyone who thinks that sort of govt will save us from a climatic disaster is wrong, at the least, dark and agenda driven at the worst. I don't mind debating global warming with anyone, just for the fun of it, but I won't argue the politics of it. Been there, see that. On that account, I fight. They even got their hands dirty. Within five years after I left there as many lawyers as there scientists. At EPA the "eternal" mission (infinite) mission is to regularly assess water., air etc quality. It's a function of science. The finite mission is to regulate, i.e., make new rules. There just isn't a need for new regs every day, at least from the scientists' point of viw, and the law. So how do regulators justify their rice bowl? It's common sense really, but at least you can see why scientists have been subordinated to lawyers in the environmental agencies. What will the preachers do when the Devil is saved? They lose their fucking jobs, that's what. Bureaucrats don't do that. My enemy, in fact, our enemy here at the Scat Patrol, aren't green earthers, but the type of government they want to superimpose on us all in order to exercise their idea of power. You can of course draw a middle course, but you have to clear about it. You seem like the sort of person who can articulate your own ideas clearly, so i suggest you do. Now you know how we feel here. - Is it common knowledge that the data he bases all of his information on is from NASA, and they have admitted that the information is tainted and not reliable due to an incorrect base temperature measurement?
- Is it common knowledge that Jimmy Carter established a committee to examine the issue of "Global Cooling" headed by Walter Mondale (more fucking useless than Gore - but not by much) that included several scientists that concluded that we were heading into a global ice age cycle?
- Is it common knowledge that global climate cycles include general times of warming (like the dirty 30's and desert like conditions in parts of North America) and general cycles of cooling including the years of 1960's to the late 1970's where ice caps increased in depth and agricultural harvest was diminished in the Northern Hemisphere?

Anyway, I can attest to the notions of environmentalists, rightfully as well as wrongfully, which might apply to our forrests and waht not. These same people, through VERY good intentiosn are causing much harm to our environment. Surely, there is a happy medium?

What does that mean?
We are to give our all, to the betterment of not only the other species around us, but to other humans firstly.
