... where are the old, fat, and infirm that one normally finds among the passenger population? This "test" is bogus unless they use representative test subjects, not youthful, thin and athletic shills! Boo.
Nobody in high heels, nobody with a baby, nobody trying to take anything with them, and the cabin isn't full of smoke either...
That said, those are problems you are going to have in any plane, so if the A380 can get all the test passengers off in 77 seconds, and the 747 can do a plane load of test passengers in 77 seconds too, then it does say that the evacuation procedure/equipment/etc is as good as other planes... And short of equipping everyone with ejection seats, that is all you can hope for.
it would be highly interesting if they were to incent the passengers (i.e. like a real disaster) with, say, $10000 to the first 100 passengers off the plane (the $10000 would likely cause the same sort of commotion that impending death would)......i bet they couldn't get 1/2 of them off in 20 minutes because people would be crawling over each other to get out and collect the money
what they should do is on a return trip of one of those planes, touch down and declare theres a bomb on the plane or something, then well see some results
